I'm replaying SOZ (again, arhh, will I ever finish it) and I decided to pick some pregenerated characters, so I noticed something weird...

Many of PGC have Merchant friend feat - even thou I didn't preorder the game. One character was paladin6/barbarian6 and when I picked him out, he lost all barbarian levels, but kept an experience. Other character didn't lost an level, but he had enough XP to advance a level.

Did you experience this?

Merchant friend ? Blessed of Waukeen I assume ?

Don't know which version you have but Neverwinter Nights 2 "complete" came with all the premium pre-order stuff including special merchants and the feat. My version did at the very least. I assume its your game version. I cant speak to GOG, or other versions.

SOZ on party creation sets level as I recall (its been a while)... so if you start with too low or too high a character level would it not automatically level you up (or down?) as the case may be. Level 5 on average ?

Continue playing ; its actually a fine adventure and hits a sweet spot when you finally move to the Sword Coast in my opinion. Other than one buggy area towards the latter half (Temple of Umberlee) the party you end up with is quite and enjoyable troop. Especially if you custom design a party with a little thought to their backgrounds. Your choice of pregenerated may or may not lessen your enjoyment.

(Thoughts posted in other threads:

I really enjoyed a party of all Elves sort of a nature wardens group. Companions of Silverymoon - cousins at war with or against Eldreth Veluuthra (there is an encounter) :Ranger-Shadowdancer/Swashbuckler-Rogue/Druid/Wizard-Arcane Archer.

A party

I also enjoyed a party of planetouched: 2 Aasimar and 2 Thiflings : Guardians of Ysgard. Fighter-Divine Champion/Cleric/ Wizard-Eldritch Knight/Rogue Invisible Blade. All Chaotic Good/Neutral.

I even encourage taking all the game "NPCs" if only for a limited time and tactical exploring. Now having said that I actually RPing player characters levels 7 - 15 which is a personal sweet spot; and the potential money available is way over the top.

Pregenerated character have Merchant's Friend, but my custom created ones have Blessed of Waukeen. I have NWN2 Gold edition (OC, MOTB, SOZ). Didn't notice extra content.

Both of the feats and all their related merchants/merchandise have always been available on every version.  You simply had to unlock them with a console code.  I think.  Or perhaps they were uploaded to the original forum sometime in the first hours of the game?  In any case, I have always had them both in play.

Your barbarian/paladin de-leveled because it is an illegal combo.  Paladins must be Lawful, barbarians cannot be.  The pre-generated character must have been created by a designer with a modded game (and a twisted sense of humor).

I don't think I ever use console. I brought the game and only have spell fixes mod. There's chance my brother and his friend exchanged character, but I can't ask him.

Your brother and his friend may not have done anything.  The entries for both Feats are on the universally used Feats.2da.  You may or may not have the stores/items (which are separate files) on your system, but that won't matter for SOZ since they only show up in the OC.

There's an alignment conflict, but it's not illegal. Perhaps there's a bug when importing those kinds of characters, but the combo is viable as long as your alignment moves from lawful to neutral.

After a very few patches all of the limited edition and pre-order NWN2 OC stuff was unlocked, not that the console couldn't remedy it. My first play through was without Merchant's Friend and Blessed of Wuakeen (NWN2 "CD" was my Christmas present the first year, per request). I was quite surprised during my second run with the pre-order stuff, but still couldn't afford any of it for a good portion of the game.

I remember downloading the MotB stuff before they were unlocked (I think Kaedrin released them).

I think there were three more for MotB

Edit:

Chauntea's Blessing
Mystra's Blessing
Mieliki's Blessing

Been a while since I've read their descriptions. They're pretty cool.
