How about four genasi clerics, each worshipping one of the elemental gods (Akadi, Istishia, Kossuth, Grumbar), and each taking appropriate domains (Air, Water, Fire, Earth). They'd get the following bonus domain spells:

Air: Call Lightning, Chain Lightning

Water: Poison, Ice Storm

Fire: Fireball, Wall of Fire

Earth: Stoneskin, Energy Immunity

One small detail I need to get off my chest.  It really annoys me that all four Genasi were dealt fighter as their preferred class.  It seems kind of mailed in given the varied skill sets they are given. I could also stand to not have them suffering the charisma penalty, but I suppose that at least makes sense.

Being descended from djinn, I'd have expected their favoured class to be sorcerer (like the D'hinni - halflings with djinn ancestry). Although I suppose that would have been cruel, given their charisma penalty.

That would be so awesome and far more appropriate given their heritage, for sure.

Judging by the way the toons look and their abilities, if I were going to tweak the genasi, I would have only given the Charisma penalty to the Earth Genasi and made barbarian their favored class.  I totally agree that Fire Genasi at the least, deserve to be modeled in such a way that sorcerer would be their favored class.  I know I would find a person with fire for hair pretty charismatic. Air Genasi, I guess I can see moving quietly with the wind, so maybe they make good rogues or rangers. The Water Genasi, I have a little more trouble getting a model for in my mind.  With constitution as their best ability, I guess fighter makes sense, but the wild, untamed nature of water also says barbarian to me.  I've just remembered that they are described as having clammy skin and sometimes scales (or was it gills?), so let's reinstate that charisma penalty for them.

SoZ is my favorite campaign for playing around with character builds since leveling happens pretty quickly and you get to mess with four PCs instead of one.  It also offers some fun mechanics, but the story isn't exactly the selling point which is fine, because I doubt that was ever the intention.  So, after a bit of my test drive with the aforementioned group of genasi, I have come to the conclusion that I just don't care for them and I probably won't continue any further with this one.  Whatever it is they do isn't worth the one level handicap and I'm still turned off by the fighter preferred class and the knock on charisma for all four types.  I feel it really handcuffs their individual flavors.  Does anyone here love or swear by Genasi and want to try to sell me on them in the future?  Something about them makes me really want to like them, but the feeling just isn't there.

Two Genasi are OK (Air & Earth) if you want to be a (Dex & Str) Fighter/X/X/X. Not much else use for them, and the other two are completely underwhelming. Which is a bit of a shame as they look quite cool.

Seems like we had a thread about this last year. Several silly suggestions for parties of all Bards based on rock bands (the Bardles? the Throwing Stones?)

The all halfling party sounded like a lot of fun as well.

Please tell me that the Throwing Stones were a group of halfling twerps armed with slings.

Maybe a "Crue" of four evil warlocks modeled after Shout at the Devil era Motley Crue?

Old thread, but if anyone's still looking for ideas, I'm currently playing SoZ with an evil party using "evil classes": an assassin, a blackguard, a stormlord and a warlock. It makes for a well-rounded party covering pretty much all your needs, and it has some more flavour than "generic warrior, generic rogue", etc. A pale master and/or red wizard could be a good option if you want some arcane power on top.

I suppose similar thematic parties could be done by grouping other classes into certain categories (good-aligned classes, arcane classes, nature classes, warrior classes, race-specific classes...).

I always love threads like this, no matter how old they are.  I was recently thinking about a party of four spellcasters all specializing in different schools.  I guess that's nothing too imaginative though.  I can't remember if there was a reason the party was on the Vigilant or not, but I suppose it can be assumed that they were on their way to some kind of meeting of the minds for wizards.

I assume the idea of four Wood Elven rangers has been done either by keeping them all as pure rangers or splitting off into their own specialized prestige classes.

I really like your idea of all evil specific classes, but I really don't like warlock or pale master and I think the one way I would like to try a Blackguard is by taking ten levels of RDD first, which wouldn't do much for me in SoZ.  I might be inclined to just be a pack of assassins wreaking havoc in the wilderness plundering caves of hapless batiri.

If we're going with power and min-maxing race's advantage alone, there is no real selling point for genasi. LA +1 is too hard a penalty for planetouched races, none of them are really as powerful as the big-3, human, halfling and dwarf. I think this is another proof of "good design, bad implementation". They shouldn't simply copy-paste a race from PnP to PC game without re-adjustment. It's not going to work. Thing is, a lot of planetouched races' powers can't be implemented by the mechanics of PC game like NWN 2.

If I'm to play genasi/tiefling/aasimar, I prefer to "re-adjust" them so the LA +1 can be more justified. This is my proposal;
-. No penalty to ability scores (doesn't make sense a half-breed of powerful beings is seen as less charismatic or get the worst part both progenitors).
-. Total of +6 ability scores bonus (similar to yuan-ti pureblood).
-. Free feat, Toughness for Earth Genasi, Dash for Air Genasi, Power Attack for Fire Genasi, Blind-Fight for Water Genasi.
