- The warpaint on Hawke's nose is actually kaddis to help their mabari recognise them in battle. Hawke wears it all the time because they never believe in being unprepared and are savvy enough to know that they tend to attract fights on a regular basis. Plus it looks kinda cool.

+ Irving and Gregoir had an affair in their youth which ended amicably but still informs their relationship. They bicker like an old married couple because that's what they'd be in another life.
Hm, for something completely different, I always pictured Gregoir as Rhys' father after a little thing he had going with Wynne when they were younger. :S

Zevran: This Gregoir fellow is suddenly much more interesting.
Hehe.
Alternatively: Wynne's baby father is actually Ser Thrask's father. The two half-brothers were never aware of their relationship and likely never will be on this side of the Fade. Ser Thrask Senior, however, imparted very strong values of mages deserving both care and friendship.
It wasn't a love-match between him and Wynne, though, as she was a bit wild in her youth.
And up to her middle ages. :-)

+ Wynne can drink any member of the group completely under the table.
+ Oghren is a complete lightweight. He's plastered after the Fereldan equivalent of Peach Schnaps. He's a happy drunk, though, so that's why the gang lets him go wild.
+ Oghren's father was, however, a Grey Warden and that's actually why he can drink the chalice pretty easily. Alistair had a similar "tummy ache" reaction. So would the Old God Baby as an adult.
+ Schmooples stays at a rebuilt Vigil's Keep if the Warden romanced Leliana. Sigrun looks after it and protects it from a drunk Oghren trying to eat it.
+ Ser Pounce A Lot was confiscated by the Wardens of Orleis during his trial for being an abomination. Nathaniel rescued it from being put out and has adopted it for his own.
+ Velanna eventually returns to Vigil's Keep after a few months away from them. She continues to disappear for months at a time but always returns to the Wardens.
Only someone who looks at her book rapidly filling up with stories from various Dalish clans has an idea of what she's doing.
+ When Justice was freed by Ander's death, it regained its sanity and apologized to Anders' spirit. He then led it to rejoin Karl, if unromanced, or to stand vigil for Hawke until she rejoined him.
Hoping they'd forgive him when they, too, crossed over into the Fade.

- The Guardian of the Sacred Ashes is actually Maferath. Guilt ridden after his betrayal of Andraste, he traveled to where he heard her ashes were held and swore his life to protecting her remains, and his existence has been forever linked to the ashes ever since. So much time has passed, that he hardly even remembers this, but his devotion to protecting his former beloved's memory endured.
Why he looks different in the Shade riddle room, was because that was how he looked when he arrived, but what is keeping him alive has made him appear more youthful.

Dalish Male Rogue warden
Male Rogue Hawke
Main Cities/Villages
+ Lothering is no longer habitable, survivors moved north into the bannorn and rebuilt it calling it new lothering.
+ Red Cliffe village is destroyed, but not uninhabitable, its is rebuilt into a more permanent form (Use stones idiots, not wood for your houses)
+ Orzammar uses the blight to reclaim a good number of lost thaigs (Caridan's cross, Ortan Thaig, Cadash Thaig, Aeducan Thaig) and begins to prosper under bhelen.
+ Haven is taken over by the chantry and is cleansed of all its dragon cult worshipers, it is now a very large village with many pilgrims traveling through it.
+ Circle tower is rebuilt, and benefits greatly under alistair and anora's rule... doesnt last long as they rebell when many first enchanters are killed at the white spire in val rouyeax.
+ 1/2 of Denerim is severely devastated and is rebuilt much like red cliffe, in a more permanent fashion.
+ Amaranthine is destroyed, but is later rebuilt, by the warden commander, to be a city that rivals the size of highever and denerim.
+ Kirkwall is hit hard after the events of the mage rebellion, but thanks to the city being built in a better fashion, it suffers very little damage, and benefits greatly for a short time after hawke is named viscount.
+ Sebastian uses the motivation from the mage rebellion to go home and retake starkhaven before a rebellion happens there. He succeeds in taking the throne, but cannot stop the rebellion. Starkhaven has closed its doors to both templars and mages and remains closed off to rebuild.
NPCs
+ Ashalle (old woman who acted as replacement mother for warden) gets land near ostagar and dies of old age as a land owner.
+ Arl eamon has a daughter, however unbeknownst to him, this daughter is not his, but lady isolde and bann teagans daughter. (seriously, he looks like hes 60, how can he have another kid?)
+ Connor free of the demon rebels with the other mages at the circle tower and finds his way to tevinter, along with his younger 1/2 sister.
+ Kaitlyn (find her brother in red cliffe chick) finds her way to denerim and marries bann teagan now arl teagan of red cliffe.
+ Valindrian is named to alistair's court
+ Wade and Herren move to vigil's keep and decide to stay permanently (unless a certain inquisitor can persuade them to move)
+ Sergeant Kylon survives the siege of denerim and retires to a nice place out in the hinterlands.
+ The Blackstone Irregulars Flourish under Raelnor's leadership, and earn a good reputation by hunting darkspawn stragglers and protecting the people as they rebuild. (taoran would have made them a bunch of underworld thugs)
+ The Mages Collective flourishes after the siege of denerim allows a chance for many mages to escape or avoid being caught. These mages help facilitate unrest and ideas of rebellion among the other mages through out thedas.
+ K takes the leadership of the thieves/rogues in denerim, and quickly establishes himself as a crime lord.... he is still in hiding today
+ Alistair's sister goldanna is killed via a retcon during the siege of denerim (she wasnt supposed to be a character, alistair is fiona's kid and has no sister)
+ Blacksmith Owen survives the destruction of redcliffe and has rebuilt his shop, his daughter Valena married a merchant and is living in denerim
+ Lanaya's dalish tribe is still wandering the brecilian forest.
+ Not much from the characters of orzammar as they pretty much stay put.
+ The nobles of Amaranthine fall into line after the rebellion plots are quelled by the warden commander in amaranthine and hawke in kirkwall.
+ Cullen leads the templars for a time, until the nevarran accord is cancelled, hawke forces the templars from the city and cullen decides to break off from the templars.
+ Everrybody in kirkwall minds their own business, so everyone is pretty much the same... except happier cause there are no mages or templars in the city.
Companions
+ Sten is the new arishok after hawke kicks the crap out of the old one, leliana searches for her lost love the warden before coming to the inquisition, Morrigan does what morrigan does, ogrhen is in the wardens (who are in dire need of cash for a new alcohol budget), Alistair is king of ferelden, Wynne is dead, shale is fighting my pigeon army of darkness (we will defeat her!), Zevran is in hiding from the crows, Dog has taken over the Anderfels and is in a "civil war" with the wardens, Loghain is dead.
+Nathaniel is with the wardens, Sigrun is still with the wardens, Velanna is still a warden
+ Aveline is holding down the fort in kirkwall as guard captain, hawke has disappeared with merrill. A new temporary viscount is elected till hawke returns.
+ Isabella has gone back to being a pirate, fenris is now a freedom fighter in tevinter and seheron, sebastian rules starkahaven and has locked his city up tight, varric gets dragged to the inquisition, bethany is a warden, anders is dead (thank god), Tallis has returned to the qunari for now.

+ Sarcastic Hawke uses humour to cover up the fact that he/she is actually scared sh*tless most of the time.
+ Their humour also didn't really come out to the forefront until Malcolm died, and he/she figured they should take their father's place as the person who keeps the mood around the Hawke household light. It was actually one of the last things Malcolm wished of his son/daughter, because he knew Leandra and Bethany would need a lot of cheering up after he was gone.

Post-game headcanons:
> The Wardens launch an investigation into the Hero of Ferelden, after word comes to them of the Dark Ritual and the Architect's survival. When the Warden hears of their intent to detain her/him, the Warden leaves Nathaniel in charge of Vigil's Keep, and Sigrun in charge of the Peak, and takes off.
If a mage, s/he goes to throw their lot in to the mage rebellion. If an elf, the elven rebellion. A Dalish Warden makes the decision to investigate the use of Eluvians they've been hearing about lately, starting with finding Merrill.
> Nathaniel, Sigrun, Velanna, Oghren, Bethany/Carver and Alistair/Loghain all work under the command of the Warden.
Bethany and Carver gain a unique friendship with them if an Amell. Carver's is more vitriolic, but Bethany's develops a fond sibling relationship. It goes a long way towards restoring her sunny disposition. This is especially true if Alistair is a Warden with her.
> Hawke leaves Kirkwall with Isabela, taking Merrill with them. They stay constantly on the move to avoid pursuit, and use it as an excuse to travel the length of Thedas. Merrill never quite gets over her seasickness though. Fenris goes to Starkhaven to take up Sebastian's offer of work, and is surprised by the respect he is given within the army.
In-game headcanons (mostly for my own Hawke):
> Hawke doesn't leave Kirkwall before the events of Act 3, because Leandra wants to stay and revive the family name. As their only remaining family (besides Gamlen), Hawke wants to see this wish come true. After her death, Hawke's main motivation to stay is gaining revenge on Meredith - for persecuting innocent mages (like potentially Bethany), while letting monsters like Quentin roam free.
> Aggressive Mage Hawke isn't originally as hard-bitten as they are in-game. Malcolm's death forced a lot of extra responsibility onto their shoulders, including keeping themselves and Bethany hidden from templars, and dealing with Carver's griping. The destruction of Hawke's home hardens them further, and especially Bethany's death. Hawke was closest to her, and felt that being mages gave them (and Malcolm) a bond that non-mages couldn't understand. Working as an impoverished mercenary makes them more ruthless, and knowing that their status as a mage puts Leandra and Caver in danger sours them. Losing both brother and mother is a further blow. If Carver dies or becomes a Warden, Hawke feels they could have protected him better and that their time together was wasted (especially with Hawke favouring Beth and neglecting him). It isn't until finally leaving Kirkwall that Hawke begins to lose some of their roughness.

DAO and DAA:
+ The Warden is at the Keep doing her Commander duties when she hears of the Inquisition. She helps them but behind the scenes so that it'll never get public she was involved. The Warden Commander and Inquisitor communicate via letters and she herself is on the road often.
+ Alistair is the Warden Commander's right hand (and lover) and helps delegate affairs at the Keep when she's busy with the Inquisition.
+ Zevran occasionally visits as he's slowly working his way up in the Crows, having taken out some of their important figureheads with some help from the Warden Commander.
+ Shale and Wynne are travelling around the world. Pigeons see their population dwindling.
+ Leliana became part of the Seekers when meeting Cassandra. She claims the Warden Commander is missing to avoid people from suspecting the Commander is actually helping them.
+ Oghren is still around and Felsi occasionally brings their son to the Keep. While the parents don't always hit it off, they agree to try to get their son an apprenticeship for the future Captain. Oghren often takes front line in melee battles.
+ Sten has returned to his homeland with many cookies.
+ Dog is at the Keep enjoying his well earned rest but doesn't relent from killing any pests he sees.
+ Morrigan left with her lil demon baby. Unknowingly to the Warden(s), she helps the Inquisitor so that her demon baby isn't in danger with the fade breach.
+ Nathaniel is still around having restored the Howe name and leads an entire squadron of scouts. He is punctual and never dances around the point.
+ Sigrun is still around and is the Warden Commander's left hand and immediate Vice-Commander when it comes to darkspawn matters. Nathaniel and Alistair often don't let Sigrun too long out of their sight due to her nature of wanting to return to the Deep Roads.
+ Velanna eventually snuck out at night to the Deep Roads to find her sister. No one heard from her again.
+ Anora is Queen and rules the best she can but has trouble with the City Elves, partly due to some of her racist advisors.
DA2:
+ Hawke is on a boat with Isabela. She has no one else left to keep her in Kirkwall. Her travels make her collide with the fade breach and finds herself helping the Inquisitor.
+ Anders dissapeared after Hawke let him go.
+ Aveline stayed in Kirkwall as Guard Captain and maintains proper order with her carefully selected guards.
+ Isabela is on a boat with Hawke. When Hawke goes to help the Inquisitor, she stays behind and takes care of looters and demons trying to run amock.
+ Fenris left, no one knows where he is.
+ Merrill reconciled with her clan and she is now their Keeper.
+ Sebastian stayed in Kirkwall to help rebuild the Chantry.
+ Varric decided to stay with Cassandra as circumstances forced him to.

Nayllen "nayl" trevelyn
Age:22
Found to have magic at the age of 7 he was taken to the circle his elder sister kara a templar who was the KC stationed there. He was assigned to his cousin kristofer as his apprentice. As a magical prodigy he too his harrowing at 16 passing it in record time. As tradition of the ostwick circle after the harrowing of the apprentices all the magi(harrowed) and templars celibrate by having a free love party for and entire day. Nayl was nervous seeing so many intimate, it wasnt til a templar named meyna made feel "welcome". After the celebration nayl divided his time between gaining his enchanter rank and spending time with meyna. For 6 years they were a happy couple considering marriage, nayl finally gained his his coveted rank of enchater at 22 for his papers on the fade and spirit bonding. When the MT war broke out ostwick's circle remained uninvolved until templars from another circle came to annul them. Kristofer and kara rallied a strong defence that lasted 2 days. When the templars breached the circle, the magi and templars fought against the invaders. Many ostwicks died, meyna found nayl bleeding heavily after defeating a demon that BM summoned she helped him to his cousin and sister to a secret passage leading to safety. But during the escape kara was slain by a templar, meyna passed nayl to kristofer and told them to run not before sharing a passionate kiss with nayl... he never her again. A year later nayl was last seen at the peace conference.
Personality: a bit shy, witty, sarcastic and mildly arrogant when it comes to book smarts. Nayl valued the circle he lived in since it was dominatly isolationist but never cared much for the others. His main goals in life before the war were inheiret his cousins status and support his family, now with the inquisition he sees isolation only makes magi and templars hate eachother so he sees it as he must set things right and procet the world
Politics: has isolationist veiws but it does stop him from doing what he believes is right/fair.
Alignment: neutral good

+ Anders and the Warden Commander actually communicated fairly regularly the entire time he was in Kirkwall. The Warden Commander's presence and advice helped keep Anders stable even if they were always troubled by how grim Anders had become. The Warden Commander even visited Kirkwall a few times, using their prestige to save Apostates via the Rite of Conscription or helping Fereldans.
It was the Warden's disappearance that caused Anders to have their final nervous breakdown.

HC on hawke and merril living together
Hawke and merril tried having a hot and heavy romance and be a couple but before leandra died she always foynd a way to act as over-bearing but loving mother/in law. One time after hawke spent 6 sovereigns to have couples retreat to antiva leandra somehow snuck into the trip and chatted merrils ears off about having 12 kids with her some and telling her various stories of hawke as a teen.. one of how she caught hawke "polishing his sword"

A paragon warden is living it up as a living god on Orzammar with their romance option making ridiculous half breed babies that all have nobility.
Wade and Herren went to Orzammar as well mostly because Wade wanted to learn their crafts...but since the dwarves stuff is so much better Herren can't sell any of Wades work. He spends every night sobbing into their emptying wallets.

I imagine Wade actually is better than most Non-Caridan or Branka-level dwarves.
Which they'd STILL not be able to sell because no dwarf would admit that.

This is pretty much my own headcanon for Sarcastic Hawke's offbeat sense of humour.
- A Sarcastic Hawke's casual snarking at Carver's expense isn't not meant to show him up in front of other people or done out of malice, but because Hawke's noticed that Carver doesn't have many friends because of his surly attitude. Hawke's trying to teach him to develop a sense of humour and to stop taking himself so seriously, so people will like him more.
- A Warrior or Rogue Hawke never joined the King's army out of a sense of patriotic duty, but because Carver had signed up in a fit of pique after a heated argument about wanting to be a solider. When Hawke and their mother went to try to bring him back, they found out they couldn't drag him home without having Carver be executed as a deserter, so Hawke was forced to sign up as well simply to make sure that he came home safely.

This sounds about right, but I actually am a bit more sympathetic to Carver.
+ Carver's immense irritation is primarily due to the fact he's one of the best fighters in the Hinterlands but no one notices because either Hawke is overshadowing him or they have to keep quiet because it's a family of mages. His youthful looks, one might say "boyish", cause people to not only think he's younger than he is but that he's not a deadly combatant. It gets worse when Aveline refuses to let him be a guard because his mindsets not right for it despite the fact he's fully capable of trashing half the gangs in the city. He feels, rightfully, she's mothering him/sistering him and that's incredibly annoying.
+ Part of the reason why Carver finds the Grey Wardens such a breath of fresh air is it's a group which is dour, humorless, and you achieve your position through merit. No one cares about Carver's family in the Wardens and he's allowed to just be himself. Even if his cousin is the Hero of Fereldan, he's allowed to earn his place through hard work which he does fighting Darkspawn in Fereldan and the Deep Roads. Carver was just looking for someone to recognize his abilities and he finds that as a Warden.
+ As a Templar, Carver is actually miserable. Everyone expects him to be twice the Templar everyone else is due to his apostate past and they get seriously irritated when he IS because he's a better warrior than anyone but Cullen or Meredith. The fact he does consider mages to be human beings is viewed as grounds for suspicion but he's quite capable of carving up Blood Mages which take whole squadrons to deal with. It's really, in a way, worse than being with Hawke's group because it's the same lack of respect but with none of the camaraderie.
+ Carver placed second in the tournament Ser Jory won to impress Duncan. He would have won if not for throwing it at the last minute on behalf of his sister and some Templars there. He places third if Hawke is a warrior. Either way, Duncan took note of him and made it a point that he would come back for them after the events of Ostagar.

After leandra past and the arishok died. The couple often tried to concieve due to find a letter leadra wrote jokingly but trouble in kirkwall often humourously intervened. At one point isabella walked in on them half jokingly. Asking to join... both said no which to her sound like the went qunari.
Isolationist manifesto for all ostwick magi:
Magic exists to serve man never rule over him. To some this means mages should serve the non magically inclined, but here at the ostick circle it means we do not involve ourselves with them aside from the templars allowed to serve here. We are neigher saints nor monsters but most do not see it that way so it is not better to hide from those who wish us ill? Ignorance can never be eradicated and while noble to try it is futile. We have everything the non mages have loe food, comfert, and safety, we need little from them and they little of us aside from wars and blights. We are separate but equal, we both bleed red but our gifts set us apart from them. Now apprentices who are given this upon enter the ostwick circle take these words to heart but remember love thy templar and msge brother and sister, love thy non mage cousins but remember that may never be apart of the mundane world aside from those who live in the tower~First enchanter kristofer, 9:12 upon switching the circle from the libertarian alignment and taking up his rank as First enchanter
