You have some interesting characters there, windsea! I especially like Quarian and AI. Didn't think of having two interconnected characters, perhaps they complement each other in combat?

Malfunctioning Shepard AI would be hilarious! :D

Race: Turian
Sex: Female
Class: Cabal / Adept
Weapons: Pistols, Submachine guns
Background: A battle scarred-veteran of the fighting on Palaven and a Turian military 'lifer.'Was severely wounded during the fighting and evacuated to the Citadel for medical treatment. Her mate and child remained on Palaven and were never seen again. Suffering from survivor's guilt

Race: Yahg

Sex: Male

Class: Tank / Soldier

Weapons: Assault rifles, shotguns

Background: Captured by Batarian slavers who sold him to a Terminus warlord fond of watching slaves fight and kill each other for sport. After several years as a prized pit fighter, he led a slave revolt that murdered his master. Escaped in his master's ship and went pirate. Founded a small colony of runaway slaves turned pirates on a derelict space station where he ruled as their 'king.' Lost it all during the Reaper War. Will only serve the protagonist if dominance is first established. (besting him in combat or a high intimidation check)

Race: Asari

Sex: Female

Class: Commando / Vanguard

Weapons: Shotguns, pistols

Background: Born on the Asari colony of Lusia, she is a veteran with nearly 250 years of service as a commando in the Asari Republics Navy. During the Reaper War she was stranded on Thessia when the Reapers defeated the fleet defending it. Spent the rest of the war as a guerrilla, waging hit and run attacks against occupying Reaper forces. Part of the post-war's 'lost generation.' Countless close calls with death have caused her to become disillusioned and directionless. Having left the military, she now devotes her time to living every moment like it might be her last. Race: Batarian

Sex: Male

Class: Special Intervention Unit / Sentinel

Weapons: Sniper Rifles. submachine guns

Background: Part of the elite Batarian Special Intervention Unit, he was recruited for a black ops mission that later evolved into the Skyllian Blitz. While serving as an adviser to the mercenary and pirate proxies attacking human colonies, he was wounded and captured during the failed assault on Elysium. He spent several years in Alliance military detention centers, stubbornly refusing to provide actionable intelligence while under interrogation. In the chaos and confusion of the Reaper invasion, he was able to escape from his Alliance holding cell. Stranded on a human world and a firm believer in the old maxim that an enemy of an enemy is a friend, he joined with a band of human civilian refugees in the wilderness and forged them into a hardened resistance cell. While he remains a Hegemony patriot, he developed a grudging respect for humans after spending months fighting beside them.

Awesome! The problem with the elcor is that you won't be able to have them with you when exploring - they won't fit in the Mako :)

I very much doubt a krogan who can headbutt banshees & atlas mechs, and carries around a warhammer which probably was used to smash a thresher maws brains out would be even slightly intimidated by this armour-covered sloth.
That said, it still sounds like a nice idea.

As for mine:

Race: Rachni
Gender: Male
Class: Brood Warrior (Vanguard)
Weapons: Shotgun & Pistols (Not entirely sure since the codex doesn't go into specifics about exactly what kind of weapons they made but let's just assume they used these)
Abilities:
-Immunity (For a set amount of time, the user and all team mates are given a large damage resistance bonus)
-Acid Spit (Spit acid which can ignore shields and directly damage health/weakens armour)
-Dark Channel (More emphasis on slowing targets)

I like the idea of a Rachni party member but communication would have to be done with a intermediary.  Their hive-mind long range communication thingy would make for a fun character.

of course there are still problem with non-humanoid party member on the technical side, so them, Hanar, and Elcor are unlikely.

I've always had a soft spot for Batarians. I'd like to have a Batarian former slaver in the vein of javik/wrex who while reprehensible on the surface when you initially meet him you warm to him over the course of the game as you start to appreciate their perspective on historical events and gain deeper insight into their culture... you come to understand that they are basically a council race in waiting that had their socio-cultural development derailed by successive dictatorial regimes at critical junctures in their history not unlike the krogan. Perhaps slavery might have ended centuries ago had democracy and equal rights prevailed, i.e. a what if the south had won scenario.

The entire race is tarred as a bunch of slavers but I bet that's only the ruling class and those who serve them as with any civilization who are a tiny minority in practice and given the state of the Batarian economy options for everyday people are pretty limited within and outside of Batarian space which is why so many resort to piracy, smuggling, etc. After years of supressing desent and democratic movements the people have basically given up. A sad cautionary but hopeful tale as with Wrex and before you know it you're rooting for them.

Also, please no Rachni. They can't talk. The only way you can communicate with a Rachni is with direct contact with the Queen.

I would love to have a Rachni on the team but it would mean no banter during missions. It will also mean that your character does not lead as Rachni will always do what the queen says (at least that was my impression on them). If it coincides with your wishes, good, if not, that's your loss :)

Mass Effect: Revelation has a section that sheds some light on batarian culture and it goes quite well with your theory. I agree that it will be an interesting thing to implement, though I think that the general grudge/dislike of humans should be present. I'd hate to see them turned in "we love humans, only small minority is against you" kind of race. They are a proud race, as Balak puts it :)

Ah, another human in alien costume.

I understand where are you coming from but almost all races in ME universe fit that criterion. The ones that don't have no ability to use cover and some are even forced to have other species doing the fighting (hanar).

Speaking of hanar, I'd love to see a hanar mafia boss. You've come to this one, on the day of its daughter's wedding... :D

I know a lot of the characters seem 'too human' in ME but that doesn't mean they have to be stereotypes either. They can still have their own non-human actions, beliefs and feelings, as well as having their own sayings.
