Unity was originally planned for Oct, but slid back to match up with the other assassin creed game, doubt anyone knew at EAware that this would happen.

Was a Halo game and GTA game also in that same month?

Not in the same month, but there were some pretty big games coming out in the same timeframe.

Eh. LittleBigPlanet 3 comes out on November 18th too and that's not going to stop me from buying either of the games. People will buy the games they want. Doesn't matter when they come out.

That would be ironic. Catering to the CoD crowd, and getting poor sales because of CoD.

This turned me on:

doom1.jpg

God damn I love that game.... :(

When I first got into dragon age i was at EB/Gamestop to buy a preorder of Bayonetta and I had some left over cash so I looked at the back display and chose dragon age (I also saw a ton of banner ads on gamefaqs too pre-adblock and at the time and knew nothing of Bioware/Mas Effect/Dragon age). At the time I was not a 'RPG' gamer as I mainly play competitive fighters like Tekken, and Non-SF4 street fighters, KOF and others. Anyway, eventually I got tired of bayonetta (Still an amazing game) and tried out dragon age and here I am.

I'm just saying don't think that people will sleep on dragon age because if gamers are like me if they are in the store, and have money in addition to a good marketing campaign, Dragon age inquisition will do just fine.

I'm proof.

October has much more better games , also all these mentioned games are played like GTA5..and HALO ?! its in the past, COD is specific audience.

I would be more worried about Far Cry 4's prospects releasing against Call of Duty and the next-gen GTA5. There's a lot of overlap in those fanbases, I would imagine.

Inquisition will sell fine. The OP acts as if Dragon Age is a game made by (and published) by an indie developer. It's an established series with plenty of fans and a gigantic publisher. Besides, none of the games the OP listed are RPG's so what else is an RPG fan going to buy in November? Move it back to October and then Inquisition is competing against Shadows of Mordor which is the bigger competition than two FPS games and a re-release of a last gen game. OP forgets that Inquisition is marketing towards a specific audience (the RPG crowd so I highly doubt CoD and Halo matter here). Half the people who buy CoD and Halo probably don't even play RPG's.

I think putting Inquisition up against another RPG would do worst.

But then, I think, the only games that don't sell well when going up against competition are indie games. The majority of people ultimately buy the AAA games over them. And we're talking as if people will only buy one of the mentioned games in this thread and no other. I'm not certain on the statistics but I'm pretty sure there's plenty of people who'll buy two games at once.

Also it's nearer to the holiday season now so people can get friends/family to gift them games they can't afford at Christmas. Only small titles don't seem to sell well during the holiday periods so I don't think Bioware would have anything to worry about.

Eh, not really interested in COD (although my husband might be, but I am the gamer in the family. He only plays occasionally). GTA5, been there, done that. I don't have an xbox so Halo means nothing to me.

I admit I am looking forward to both Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed, but nothing... NOTHING... can possibly beat out DAI for my most anticipated game of the year. I will ignore all other games until I have finished DAI if need be.

I will probably make sure to get COD for the hubby though. But he plays on console and I play on PC so it works out perfectly.

There's no need to worry, OP.  COD and Halo are both FPS games and GTA V is an open-world game.  DA:I is a RPG, which is a completely different genre.

COD fans are going to stick to COD, Halo fans are going to stick to Halo, and GTA fans are going to stick to GTA.  Yes, there are those gamers who are into multiple genres- hell, I'm one of them- but they're going to go with whichever game most appeals to them.

I'm more worried about what kind of gamers the MP will attract, tbh.  Look at ME3: it's a 3rd person shooter with a horde mode MP.  Most of the people who jumped into ME3 from other games were COD kids who only cared about multiplayer, and we all know how bad they can get with cursing out people.  I'll admit, I used to be a COD kid too (minus the cursing people out), but I played it smart and started with ME2 (I'm on PS3 and ME1 wasn't available at the time) so I could get a feel for the story.  Then again, I only heard about ME through G4's AoTS when they talked about the outrage over ME3's ending and I decided that I wanted to see why everyone was so upset, so I started with ME2 and never looked back.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that having MP in DA:I is pretty cool, but it might attract the wrong kind of gamers.  But then, I guess we'll have to wait and see, right?

If CoD can have another story as great as this one:

BLOPS2-RaulMenendez.jpeg

YES

Raul Menendez was just great, one of my favorite antagonists. Black Ops 2 was an incredibly pleasant surprise as far as the story goes all around (loved the implementation of choice and consequences in there too).

I am also one of the mythical creatures that plays CoD primarily for SP.

On topic, as many have stated, there will be some overlap, I myself enjoy all franchises listed, but I doubt it will be a big overlap all things considered.

On November 18th, here are the following games that will be released:

Dragon Age: Inquistion

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

GTA V for PS4/Xbone

Far Cry 4

Little Big Planet 3

I mean good god, I don't even remember which of these games had that date first but this is overload. How are these 5 games not going to eat away at each other's potential sales? There's just no way.

Folks are just not understanding. EA invested a lot of money into DA:I. It's their only non-sports title dropping for the rest of this year. DA:I has a lot of competition during launch. That will make a dent, like it or not. Add in the fact that BioWare's reputation has soured for more than a few people. Genre won't matter if the suits are looking at quarterly numbers. It isn't about whether the game will or won't sell. It will. RPGs have a very long shelf life. It's about whether or not the suits like the close-to-release numbers enough and if they think it warrants expansions and sequels.
