If DA:I lasts me as long as I think it will, the other games that I MUST have (Mordor, GTAV) at some point will hopefully had a price cut.
DA:I's release date is the most crowded week I've ever seen for gaming.

Don't forget Binding of Issac: Rebirth. Oh and Civilization: Beyond Earth as well. Those two are probably the only games that I care about other than DA:I this year.

Inquisition is the only game out of that list in the OP that interests me. Not a huge line up for some

More like December. ![]()
But yeah, that's the only game at the moment I'm hyped to play besides DAI and I already got Pillars during KS campaign. ![]()

They don't, we make the story up in our heads while feeling good for pwning the AI since we obviously can't cut it out in MP.
Yep... people really think that, thing is... i do quite well in MP shooters, always in the top 3-5 with no practice what so ever, yet i still can't stand it, MP is just outright mind numbing to me. I would much rather be playing through the SP (Although, sadly, imo the sp campaigns have been regressing since cod4)

At least Witcher 3 is delayed until next year... as you say, of course players may enjoy games of different genres and might have a tough time deciding between games, but if you only would have money/time for one 100+ hours RPG game this fall, the decision would have been even harder.
Not for me personally since I haven't played the Witcher series (I might take a look at it later) but I've heard many people say they are relieved that the two of them aren't coming out at the same time.

DAI is my most anticipated game, but I still have BL PS, both AC and Civ BE all on preorder. Plus Into the Long Dark is going to be out in some format. And right now I'm spending every free moment in Destiny.

I still have my GTA V, so the next gen version can wait. I'm definitely getting Far Cry 4 on release. I haven't bought a COD game since COD 4, and never will again, so that'll be ignored. And as much as I LOVE Halo, that's going to have to wait too since I don't want to have both systems just yet...it's already hard enough to find time to play games.

Didn't you see the original release date for October, there were five games being released on the same day?
No matter when they decide to release the game there is going to be someone saying its "a bad time to released it because..." and the reasons will range from, its been running from the competition, its going against Destiny/Assassin's Creed/Borderlands/Alien Isolation/Shadows of Mordor/The Witcher/etc, its not being released for the Christmas season, etc. There are plenty of games always being released and there is always going to be competition for a game.

I no longer buy games on release and at full price (DA:I is the only exception this year with maybe Alien Isolation) so I still have to finish the games I got from sales like two years ago (PC player backlog syndrom). RL time management is an issue too so no worry on my part about the end year being crowded.
And even if I did:
People who are more interested in RPGs will favor DA:I anyway.

Spread the word about this game, because it is definitely facing some considerable opposition. That said, I think it could definitely be worse, too. If GTAV were truly a new release that would hurt it more.
This is a rough November for big-league developer estimates, but 2012 was worse IMO.

They should have released it in the summer, there are no games in the summer. ![]()
Actually, seriously, i dunno why more publishers don't release games in the summer, spread it out, it works for movies.

I hope they don't delay this game yet again. It will send so many wrong messages. There should be enough time to move the release date up a week if need be.

Actually, seriously, i dunno why more publishers don't release games in the summer, spread it out, it works for movies.
In the United States (as well as plenty of other places in the Western World) the holiday season is a time of commercialized gift-giving and video game consoles/software titles always perform strongest as a direct result. Add in things like Black Friday and it's a no-brained for publishers despite the steep competition.
Summer relentlessly proves a game sales drought and even when big games try their luck in attempted favor of that environment too many sales are lost to a lack of high-level commercial thoroughfare.
Summer's association with "going out and having fun" is just as cemented in the public consciousness. Movie theaters thrive therein just the same. It's a matter of mass social perception and marketing as an industry will look to maximize all these perceived environs rather than gambling against them.
There are exceptions; a game can do well in June, of course, and I think Avatar was a December 2009 movie. (June isn't as bad as, say, August for the games industry, and December holiday moviegoing is a thing, albeit one with a generally smaller ceiling than is seen in summer.) But this is essentially the 101 on why.

I'll let BioWare and EA worry about their competition and sales projections, that's not my problem.

They really don't spread out movies, you have Summer Action Movie Season (May to Early Aug), Drought Season (Early Aug/Sept), Awards Season (Sept to December), Drought Season (Jan to May). Video games are similar just shifted around more for its "Summer Action Season" is Sept to Early Dec when there is a push for Back to School (pre-exams) and the Holidays are coming up.

I had mulled over a move to the 11th. The X1 version of Inquisition would be up against this holiday season's biggest X1 title, Halo. Also, it is rather possible both Assassin's Creed games will be released on the 11th, given that Unity has been pushed back "by about two weeks." (Let's hope Ubisoft doesn't make that three weeks, ha!)

The data intrigues me. The potential consequences for good or ill on a beloved franchise of mine intrigue me.
What's perhaps ironic, then, is that I am very niche gamer who only purchases a few titles a year across multiple console manufacturers. But the business itself has always captivated me.

As long as you don't take it to "concern troll" level and start demanding BioWare make changes to its release schedule for its own good. ![]()
Somehow we always get marketing experts in here who think the sky is falling around Edmonton and they're just so concerned because they love BioWare so much.

Well I am a little surprised EA isn't releasing DA: I in Q1 as per there usually MO, I don't think its that big of a deal. If a game is good people will buy it. And the OP didn't mention FC4 which isn't just another re-release like the rest, well hopefully anyway.
