I have DAI pre-ordered, and will be purchasing an Xbox One during either a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale. I also want to get The Master Chief Collection and the remastered GTA V - but I've already played all of the games in the Halo collection on previous consoles, and I've already played GTA V on my Xbox 360. That means that DAI takes priority for me, since it's a brand-new game. I wouldn't be surprised if a decent number of other players prioritize based on similar reasoning (though of course The Master Chief Collection will be far and away the choice for pro gamers and multiplayer-focused gamers on the Xbox platform).

Christmas would be right around the corner at that time anyway, so I'll just ask for one of those other titles as a Christmas present.   :P

Witcher 3 is getting hyped, because it promises to give the best of the two combined (and I sincerely believe, they can pull that off - so far only Fallout: NV was close to achieving that - it was far from perfect, but it come closest). It is also getting hyped for very good visuals and dynamic combat system. And also because (sorry to say that) CD Projekt RED treats it's customers far better than EA (or Ubisoft, Activision...) does - and it's being recognized.

Additionally as ambitious as Witcher 3 is, CDPR has allready shown with Witcher 2 that they can pull of incredibly ambitious projects.

Certainly a busy time.

That's pretty much a year's worth of gaming released in a three week period.

This is the list I'd probably play at some point...

30 Sep: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (P4, XBO)

24 Oct: Civilization: Beyond Earth (Win, Mac, Lin)

28 Oct: Lords of the Fallen (Win, PS4, XBO)

04 Nov: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Win, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO)

11 Nov: Assassin's Creed Rogue (PS3, X360)

11 Nov: Assassin's Creed Unity (Win, PS4, XBO)

11 Nov: Halo: The Master Chief Collection (XBO)

18 Nov: Dragon Age: Inquisition (Win, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO)

18 Nov: Far Cry 4 (Win, PS3, PS4, X360, XBO)

18 Nov: Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO)

What to do?

Shadow of Mordor finished by Nov 18.

DAI - lot's of it from the 18th.

AC next (both flavours)

More DAI MP...

I'm annoyed a bit, since I'll have Assassin's Creed Unity, the Halo MCC, and Inquisition all out at around the same time.

My plan is to play Inquisition first, then go through Unity or the MCC followed by the other.

That's like six games all out at around the same time, considering the MCC is Halos 1, 2, 3, and 4(the last one being one I've never played before).

But for me, Inquisition still takes priority.

I found the Witcher 2 to be a weaker product than the first just as with DAO versus DA 2. Both games suffered from a short development time.

I'm sure there are also some people who think Dragon Age 2 is better than origins. But the big majority thinks otherwise, just like witcher 2 is considered as a big improvement over witcher 1.And comparing Da 2 to Witcher 2 ist a big insult for the later and I'm saying this as someone who actually enjoyed Dragon Age 2.( I still think it has a better combat and story (at least the idea behing it, the execution is another matter´) than origins.

@topic

I think Dragon Age Inquisition will be fine. Almost everything i have heard about the game sounds great. Like other people have mentioned, there are targeting at different audiences. Just look into a GtA or CoD forum. There is barely any interest in Dragon Age Inquisition. There will be some people, who may buy another game instead beacause of the release of so many AA titles but I don't think their number is high enough to be really relevant. Dragon Age has it's own fanbase and while it's much smaller than the fanbase from games like GTA, COD and Assassins Creed, it should be still big enough to sell this game 3-5 million times if it deserves these sales.

This being said, I still think biowares/ea's marketing is subpar. They focus too much on romances. Most people outside this forum (which doesn't even represent 0.5% of the Inquzisition purchasers) just don't care if they will be able to romance anybody. But reading new infos about DA I on mainstream gaming sites, 30-40% of these news seems to be somehow related to romances and their sexuality.

When it was October 7th people were claiming that it was a hard release week because of Shadows of Mordor.  It's fall, it's going to be a competitive release schedule no matter what.  Everyone wants their product out there for Christmas sales.  I think that is the other thing that people are forgetting, even if the first week sales are low (which I doubt but I'll play devil's advocate) they have the holiday season where gamers will be asking for multiple games. So if they are salivating to get all the games the OP mentioned they very well could. Also, while some gamers may only be able to buy one game every few months there are many gamers who can buy multiple new games at a time.

While I might not be a fan of the FPS and GTAs out there I recognize that lots of folk are.  However, if it was between a new game or an old game I've played with a fresh coat of paint I think most people would side with new game and go back by the remasters later.  I don't believe it's as dire as the OP makes it sound.  Of course DLC and future games depend on sales but I doubt that DA:I will fail.  The only release date they could have picked in 2014 and avoid competition would have been during the summer drought.  I'd rather they take the time and release the game when they think it's ready even if that means it will have competition.

I've always hated that all the new games come out during the Christmas shopping season. What are we supposed to do at the other parts of the year, hm? Twiddle our thumbs?

Well then it certainly didn't show in the content available if you compare it with the Witcher 1 or other RPGs. Heck, they even had to scrap an entire region, not to mention the extremely short final act.

I have nothing against CDPR, I actually like the Witcher but I certainly felt the last game wasn't an improvement and I felt they rushed the game or they mainly focused on better graphics.

Play the games that came out during the Christmas season. With the amount of games coming out around that time you can easily spread out those games over many months without ever having to twiddle your thumbs.

It is not the fault of marketing if the mainstream gaming sites want to mostly talk about romances in the articles they themselves create. The marketing of EA/BioWare hardly ever even spends any time on discussing the romances and at the conventions it has been mainly about gameplay. The only times BioWare actually talked about romances has been during cosplay and at Gaymerx but otherwise they don't even focus on it at all.

I like the posts that treat EA as some kind of singular unthinking monolith instead of a company made up of people that probably know what they're doing.

They don't care what you do for the rest of the year, so long as they can market games to non gamers to buy for their loved ones as gifts for Christmas and make a **** load of money, lol.

I will play AC:U until the end of November at least then I'll look at the reviews of SoM and DA:I and see what I want to play next.

Edit

I'll have to fit AC:R in there as well.

Gonna be a busy couple of months.

I was going to buy The Master Chief Collection, GTA V and Dragon Age: Inquisition on launch day, but since I'm just a filthy casual who doesn't have the mental capacity to understand a game with the complexities of Dragon Age: Inquisition, I guess I'll just pass.

I wasn't implying that someone who enjoys one type of game, can't enjoy the other. And nowhere did I imply that someone who enjoys shooters was a 'filthy casual'. What I meant to say, was that shooters are more fast paced and action oriented. Usually, but not always, more than an RPG. While RPG's can take longer to progress through the game, and may not have all the action or combat that some look for in a game. People who like one, or the other, would more likely buy that type of game before the other.

That's all I meant. Perhaps I worded it poorly, but I did not mean to offend anyone.

I agree to some extent. They should be focusing on the political intrigue and war elements and pitch it at the Game of Thrones audience. GoT has shown there is a massive audience out there for dark fantasy and DA is a perfect franchise to tap into it.

I don't think this is quite right. The trailers and gameplay trailers have focused on the combat and the story.

I randomly opened the last 40 googled news items on DAI and romance focused items accounted for 10-15% of news items.

As 'sex sells' on a gaming site, I think the perception that game sites are talking about it may over-represent the level of information

that BioWare themselves are putting out there.

They mainly need to worry about other RPGs releasing at the same time.

All those mentioned games mean nothing to me.

I don't know if it has already been said and it probably wont affect too many people here, but the 3ds remakes of Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby are being released around the same time.

Both RPGS but both very different types.

Still.

OP have a little faith. GTA V is a Port, Halo and COD are just rehash's. I'm sure DAI can hold its own against them, It is a AAA game after all.

I thought so too for both dates.

Release in October would have actually put me in a way tighter spot thought - still would have prefered it, but hey...

Now that's in November I actually can look at the list and simply pick the only game I'm interested in - DA:I.

I'm not sure if its been pointed out, but Pokemon comes out on the 21st of November~

I had no idea GTA or Halo had anything coming out, lol... Till GTA has a female lead, I won't bother to care about the series.
