They don't just lose their powers, they go insane. (p.267 Asunder). It takes a couple of months for the full effects to set in but it happens eventually. It wasn't just the mages that the Chantry were controlling. Luckily for the Templars they were able to tap into the illegal smuggling route to get their fix. Probably why the Carta is spying on the peace conference; they are afraid they might lose their new customers.
Which NPC do you want to see live after the peace summit explosion?

Okay guys, please take the mage/templar debate to it's own thread.

Let's keep this one debate free. This is a positive thread. ![]()

Given the mages need Lyrium like bazookas need ammunition, I wonder if they're selling to both sides equally.

I was under the impression that everyone at the Summit dies, save for the Inquisitor-to-be.

Everyone dies who is there. Which is why I was querying where Cassandra and Leliana were when it happened. It is more a case of who you hope wasn't actually there. They Devs have said that it was a peace conference involving the leaders of both sides but that could be one or two individuals or a whole group. Considering they are employing mercenaries to keep the peace, I would imagine that it involves more than one or two individuals. Part of the chaos could result from nobody knowing exactly who died. The bodies in the trailer look pretty unrecognisable to that can lead you to hope that may be even those who were meant to be there might not have actually been within blast range or still travelling to the venue. I'm pretty certain that the Divine would be dead though, since the peace conference was her idea, so she would have to be there. Other people might be in hiding because they are afraid of being blamed for it, particularly if they should have been there but weren't. The assumption would be that either they were tipped off or they knew something was going to happen because they planned it.

Seems like a waste to resurrect Evangeline with the Faith spirit and then just microwave her as soon as the game starts.
... Though it is kind of hilarious, in a rather morbid way.

They got lost in the woods on their way there.

I know that.
The purpose of this thread is, in other words, was to ask one of the NPCs that didn't make it to the Summit did the posters wish to live. I'm sure not every kingdom/free state is going to have their primary rulers there. That's what ambassadors and other such representatives are for.
I noticed that the Divine is a pretty popular choice.

"It is difficult to bear....what happened here. You walked out of the Fade.... and our soldiers found you. The only one who escaped a blast that killed thousands."
Looks grim for anyone who isn't the Inquisitor.

Circle mage Bethany. Bioware better not dare to fry her with everyone else. I hope she is just not there entirely.

Anyway, who do you want to see live? I'm going with Divine Justina, because frankly I'd like to get to know her better first. I'd like to meet her on screen and interact with her some rather than having her die in the first 2-10 minutes or so of the game.
You might get the chance to talk to her
, I hope so atleast

Well... maybe Bann Teagan wasn't important enough to get an invitation. Or... he called in sick? ![]()

I think only Chantry, Templar, and Mage Rebellion are only there

ALL OF THEM ![]()
Divine Justinia, Fiona, Rhys, Evangeline, I don't want ANY of them to die before I actually get to meet them in-game!
I'm hoping against hope that the very beginning of the game will take place before the Breach, and depending on your class/race choice, you might be in the Temple of Sacred Ashes and get to speak with some of these characters.

I don't want any of the characters from Asunder to die there. That would be such a waste of some great characters.

Fiona.
I want to kill her myself.
But seriously, Rhys and Evangeline seem cool. I'd hope at least one of them lives.

If this is true I will be happy. The death of Bann Teagan would be more heartbreaking than the no marriage option with Bann Teagan. Well, I won't be happy because I really don't want anyone to have to die...but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles.

This. The Summit was to end the Templar/Mage war. The leaders of Fereldan and Orlais or wherever would not be there.

They might be considering its spilling over their lands.

After November 18th, I can come back and say which I preferred living, as I am unsure who is all there. Important people yes, but are they those we already know? I can only assume names. Divine might or might not be there, assuming she would be, I would say her. I don't think Bethany would be there, which not sure she could be as she can be busy with Warden stuff 50% of the choices. I tend to make siblings Wardens instead myself. Warden Bethany isn't as suppressed as a Mage Bethany is.
