G'day guys from Australia here, first topic, first post. How are you all?
I have always been a huge fan of Mass Effect taking a huge interest in its universe even before I played the actual game (It was released when I was in High School.) I think that the best thing about it for me is how the story arc relates to a fictional future of including the universe that we actually live in and not something completely different like in Star Wars for instance, So it directly relates to us a lot more than other fictionalized science fiction plots I have seen in media outside of books.
For me I really enjoy more about the complexities of the setting, aesthetics and story more than anything else in this game, I study courses in Globalization at University so it is quite interesting for me regarding on how the galactic civilization may evolve in the next game. (hoping that it will be set much later than the last trilogy.)
Will cultures blend into a meta-globalized culture and societies? Will we be seeing a lot more of a homogeneous society evolve after the Reapers? Relevant examples including:
-Ships crewed by more multicultural servicemen enlisted in multi-species professional armies,
-Planets with more equalized threshold demographic of different species, even on the home worlds (New York City being only 60% Human 40% non-human as a superficial example)
-Multicultural societies as nation states instead of species-centralized states? (It would be interesting to see how these societies will have to work in order to legislate policy to a vast array of different types of people. Drinking age: Humans, Turians and Asari: 18, Salarians: 8... XD )
-Subcultures and splinters within these cultures.
It would be interesting to see how humans in particular have settled into together with other species a lot more than was demonstrated in the trilogy and how our culture has changed because of it. The old games tended to still have a sense of segregation of humans with everyone else as they were still relatively young, but hopefully in the next game we will be seeing Humans in a matured state within the galactic society. I would think it would be great to see that Humans will not consist of being centralized to the core plot and just be considered as mere people within the crowd of a melting pot.
My other interest is how design will change within the next game, will architecture be far different than in the original game? It would be cool to see a Victorian apartment block on earth next to and/or consolidated with a block of flats of an alien design right next to it. also will the clothes people wear change? even adopting old fashions from the past, or even humans wearing clothes of alien design or aliens wearing clothes of human design? Facilities accommodating different arrays of people or jim crow laws (Humans Only, Asari Only) I know Bioware dipped its toes into this with the Armour and the all-elcor cast of Romeo and Juliet haha! but how much further could this go?
I am a Music Student majoring in Performance so it's obvious that music is also a large part of what interests me, though the scores in the game are already great, it would be cool to see fictional alien instruments used in conventional bar bands (Krogan Death Metal) all the way to orchestras if they were featured in the game, I know that is rather corny in regards to this being a science fiction shooter video game but still... Would be cool to add some licenced music in it as well (hopefully some power metal hahaha \m/.)
I know what I have written here may seem rather trivial to what the game is mean't to be but for me I just enjoy the worlds and immersion that are created. I hope the next Mass Effect game with be incredibly fun to play and experience.
Kind Regards to all here on the forum.
