I'll admit I've never put Alistair on the throne by himself. If he's on the throne, he's either on it with my Cousland beside him or with Anora. I almost always do the Dark Ritual too (I've done the US once and sacrificed Alistair/Loghain once for the achievements).

 

But I've found myself wondering, if Alistair is put on the throne alone and Anora is locked up, what happens if Alistair sacrifices himself to kill the Archdemon? Obviously Anora becomes queen, but how does she treat the PC? Is she cold and unpleasant because the PC didn't put her on the throne? Does she make any comments regarding Alistair's sacrifice or her imprisonment?

 

Also, how does Anora react if she was all set to marry Alistair, and Alistair sacrifices himself? What comments does she make?

I do not remember how she treats the PC. I do know she speaks very nicely about Alistair if he dies fighting the Archdemon.

Anora as queen holds the same 'placeholder' as Alistair if he ruled alone (or with a queen Cousland) so her dialogue is almost identical to his, right down to the little chuckle when talking about the Warden's adoring public awaiting to see him/her.  No mention is made of her imprisonment or Loghain's execution (though she will ask how her father died if he killed the archdemon).  For Anora, being queen by default was a win/win for her.  She gets to rule alone.

Of course, that pissed me off on the WC run when I thought "Oh I see how it is, my lover dies fighting the dragon, saves the damn nation and you throw a party and have a good old time".  B*tch.

My second playthrough I was just purposefully wrecking things, partially though not entirely because this was before Awakening and I wanted to unlock two specs that basically require you to spoil the world. And as part of this I chose to allow Alistair to die after crowning him solo king.

 

I seem to recall wondering if Anora was flirting with me during the endgame, oddly enough. (Though that might have been one of the other playthroughs.)
