Z Nation is a joint production of the Syfy Network and Production house The Asylum, who once again show off their ability to make something similar to an already existing work. That being AMCs The Walking Dead, with a tiny bit of The Last of Us thrown in for good measure.

It, as the title would suggest is a series dealing with the Zombie Apocalypse. Though where it stands apart from The Walking Dead is it's plot is more about transporting a person immune to the Zombie virus from New York to California.

Z Nation premiered yesterday on September 12th 2014 and will run through until Halloween.

For my initial thoughts, given this is a series worked on by The Asylum, or as you might know them, the people behind Transmorphers, Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, Almighty Thor, Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, Atlantic Rim, and the Sharknado movies. I wasn't going in expecting anything grand. For what it's worth, it's ok. Acting was pretty alright, makeup effects weren't godawful, and some of the ideas were well implemented. It is very much a cornier show than The Walking Dead is however. The pilot kept my interest enough to keep watching until The Walking Dead comes back. But it fails to break away from the mold of other Zombie works.

Oh and there was a Zombie Baby...that was pretty dumb...

It's also really reliant on jumpscares. So expect the same level of horror as this kid.

As long as it's really campy.

Ok...well amazing turnout for this show I can clearly see...

So Episode 2. Zombie Dogs. That happened, and I think with the baby from last episode we're trying to go for a little variety in Zombies, which is commendable. I'm excited for the Zombie Bears straight outta Undead Nightmare.

Some bad CG this time around (Zombie Dog, and the scene where a pipe burst and an Oil tanker exploded). But The Asylum have done worse. Trust me.

Show's a campy affair, but it's not awful so far (Though the sooner they off the one lady carrying a dumb biker subplot the better. She's the worst actor of the lot).

I'd say give it a watch at least.
