Will you play as a Rogue with Double Daggers? #DAI pic.twitter.com/tDe9MPflzT
Backstab FTW ![]()
Are proper backstabs back then?
I think 'backstab' is just 'flank attack' now.

The rest will be just upgrades in the skilltree then?

It does look like positioning will be important again. We've seen that in gameplay videos where they try to stealth their rogues behind their opponents before attacking.
But Flank Attack does sound a lot like DA2's Backstab.

I hope there are special animations for backstabs like in DAO. It made being tactical and trying to position your rogue behind enemies a lot more rewarding.

Here's a view of the Skill Tree...

I do like that Twin Fangs gets a damage bonus if you attack from behind... geez... now that I think about it, Flank Attack followed by Twin Fangs sounds pretty lethal.
Yes, finally some rogue love.
Rogues are my favorite, and I know I am in the minority for that. Are rogue players as rare as dwarf players?
I thought Rogues were pretty popular myself... Dual-Dagger Rogues are definitely my go-to class in DA!

All of these sound great!

Huh, I thought that the large majority of players prefer either warriors or mages.
I remember reading a dev post in a romance thread that more people played through a S/S romance than people who played as a rogue. Something along those lines.
I feel the same as you though. Dual dagger rogues are my favorite by a mile.
I love playing as a rogue, mostly because I hate not being able to open stuff, but also because of the crazy amounts of damage they can do. The last time I played rogue Hawke was the easiest Arishok duel I ever had. Plus, stealth.
It also means I have 3 wide open companion slots since I don't need to leave room for a rogue. Of course, I would still usually take Varric with me everywhere anyway, but if for whatever reason I didn't want to, I wasn't gimping myself. I don't think anything was more annoying in DA2 then having high level chests to unlock in Sebastian's personal quests and him not having enough points in cunning to open them.

Yes! I kept hearing about how difficult/long the Arishok battle was, and how people spent the fight running away from him while the dog bit his ankles, but he was not difficult at all for my assassin rogue Hawke.

Rogues were great in DA:O, but the acrobatic moves in DA2 kind of ruined it for me... kind of. I still liked how powerful they were, but didn't play as a rogue Hawke all that often. DA:I seems to have removed that, so now there's more stabbing, less jumping. I can see myself playing as a rogue Inquisitor in the future, but 2 handed warrior will come first.

Rogues are always my favorite class. I hate coming to a chest I can't unlock. Plus in both games they did the most consistent damage when built right. Nothing owned like an archer in DAO and in DA2 the dagger rogue obliterated just about everything pretty easy once you got the last ability in the assassin spec. I hope I can blow people up similarly with a rogue in DAI.
deathblow, though I will use the others as well.
Meh...
Mage master race ftw !

I used to play snarky Hawke then bring Isabella and Varric with me. I would then either put in Aveline or Fenris depending on whose banter I was in the mood for.
Skills still sound generic. But I suppose coming up with something original would also sonud pretentious.
Rouges in DA2 made the game fun for me. I look forward to play as one in DAI
Longswords? PULEASE? I don't need two, I just need a primary hand longsword and dagger in my offhand. There is NO reason (aside from game mechanics) why "rogues" in Thedas shouldn't be able to pick up one of these and be able to use it with proper training.
Loved rogues in previous da games well defitenly have try it in dai maybe on my 1st run.
