Yes, finally some rogue love.
Rogues are my favorite, and I know I am in the minority for that. Are rogue players as rare as dwarf players?
My Dwarf Inquisitor will be a dual dagger rogue.
Rogue will be my second play through. And I tend to prefer duel wielding to ranged, but I've been enjoying my current rogue archer playthrough in Origins so I may just change it up. We'll see.
Do the tiny little diamonds mean something? Mind Blast had one too, as does Whirlwind and another Warrior ability previewed.
I like that they give positional bonuses to abilities. Deathblow sounds nice too, but I'm not sure if situational abilities are that useful when you're limited to 8.
I don't understand the description of Deathblow, does it reset the cooldown when you kill an enemy?
Hopefully ingame tooltips will have more clarity.

Good eye! I checked and the Mighty Blow skill also has one, but it's darkened due to the fist being a lighter shade... in any case, all of those abilities are on this list: http://forum.bioware...0#entry17259755
A poster called "themageguy" identified them as being "impact" and "edlritch" detonators... therefore the diamonds on Twin Blades and Deathblow must mean that they are rogue-type detonator abilities.
As someone who is going to play a rogue in DAI, finally some info about dual daggers!
Twin Fangs was probably my favourite ability in DA2. That.

Rogues are most definitely my favourite class archetype in any game that allows it. My Warden was a rogue, though my Hawke and Inquisitor are mages and warriors respectively just for the sake of diversity in my canon. :S
Second playthrough will be a rogue fo sho.
I'd sign up for an ability that let me use a damned longsword/shortsword combo, but alas. Every rogue on the face of Thedas seems to have forgotten how.

Execute Deathblow is most definitely not a situational ability. It will make killing swarms of enemies easier (synergizing very well with AoE abilities). And it will be very useful towards the end of boss fights. As anyone who's ever wiped on a boss at 2% in an MMORPG will tell you, executes are lifesavers.
Dual Dagger rogue Dwarf FTW! ![]()

It does look like positioning will be important again. We've seen that in gameplay videos where they try to stealth their rogues behind their opponents before attacking.
But Flank Attack does sound a lot like DA2's Backstab.
I can't wait to down enemies with my huge, bulky Qunari rogue!
I thought Rogues were pretty popular myself... Dual-Dagger Rogues are definitely my go-to class in DA!
Same here. ![]()
I love playing as a rogue, mostly because I hate not being able to open stuff, but also because of the crazy amounts of damage they can do. The last time I played rogue Hawke was the easiest Arishok duel I ever had. Plus, stealth.
It also means I have 3 wide open companion slots since I don't need to leave room for a rogue. Of course, I would still usually take Varric with me everywhere anyway, but if for whatever reason I didn't want to, I wasn't gimping myself. I don't think anything was more annoying in DA2 then having high level chests to unlock in Sebastian's personal quests and him not having enough points in cunning to open them.
(emphasis added)
For this reason alone I started carrying a couple Maker's Sigh potions with me at all times.
Having fought with two swords before, it really isn't that cool. You have to spend so much time keeping yourself from locking your blades that anyone with one sword or even two daggers has a massive advantage over you. If they can close on you just a little, your swords lock up and you're dead.
IMO, two swords is even worse than using an offhand cloak. Cloaks are useless unless you're really good at using them, but at least they don't make your fighting worse.
On the other hand, double daggers is even more fun than it looks like in videogames. I highly recommend it.
I just liked having actual, you know, choice.

Wow, how do you pull that trick where you turn invisible and teleport behind your foe?
How much upper body strength and coordination does it take for you to harpoon a person with a knife on a rope and then pull yourself over to them
Because those seem like absolutely INHUMAN feats of coordination, skill and strength.
But since those are all such realistic martial techniques, I suppose dual daggers really are much more reasonable then dual swords.
So I can stab someone twice, stab them from behind, or stab them once and maybe once again?
I wonder what kinds of things the other five abilities will let me do.
Daggers? No thanks. I'd rather duel wield hand axes.
I will definitely play rogue but that will be in my second playthrough, however for my first one I will be a Female Qunari Mage and the Rogue will be a Elf/Human ![]()

The problem I have with dual swords is not that they're unrealistic, it's that they are profoundly not fun to use. Daggers are fun, a single sword is fun. Training with double swords is an awful, clunky chore that you slog through to gain better blade awareness.
You say you don't care when they're unrealistic... but that's exactly when they're very, VERY fun to use.

Also, I propose to you a simple fact: using two swords is always better than using one of that same sword, because you cut them twice as much
this is simple mathematics ![]()
