Um...no? Nothing about Seb paints him as the type to do it. He was upset. People say stupid crap when they're upset.

I like Sebastian well enough, till the chantry blows up. That's when he screams... OMG... that is one of the most horrible screams ever. It just sounds fake and apathetic. Like there is no emotion behind it.

I really wanted to punch his face in when he starts ... " Oh noooo... Elethinnaa... Nooooooooo!!!..."

Just freaking irritating.

For some players, including me, one of the earlier breaking points was when he talked about turning in Anders and Merrill.  I'm sure some players wish they could have done that on their own (especially after beating the game the first time.)  I still feel it wasn't his call to make.  That should have been left up to the player.  Talk about an interesting turn of events that could have been.   :P

Anyway, while hindsight is 20-20, even my hardcore pro-Templar warrior was angry at that one.  Someone that I barely know wants to lock up my friends/allies?  It would be one thing if it were, say, Aveline.  I still wouldn't agree, but she would have at least known them for about 6 years by Act III.  She also knows that Anders is unstable at this point, and that Merrill could end up accidentally hurting someone with her blood magic.  That would have been fair.

However, Sebastian was still pretty new the party, didn't really invest that much interest in the other party members (except to talk about his beliefs,) and while I didn't mind his faith at all (a very strong bit of writing from the writers imho,) he had no right threatening to lock up Hawke's allies.  In front of Hawke, no less.

I personally don't like how he really seems to have a lack of conviction in the game.  Even on the Rivarly path, which is almost always what I take with him.  Between that and his offer to lock up her friends, (bonus points that the first time I got the DLC with him in it, it was during my first romance session with Anders) I ended up instantly disliking him.

I also don't like him from a gameplay perspective at all.  His starting stats are atrocious for a rogue, but thankfully the Black Emporium takes care of that.  Also, I generally play archers. With two other rogues in the party already in the party, Seb ended up getting benched.   In many of my playthroughs, he became the dumping ground for my second-hand weapons and trinkets.   His tree is very nice to activate for Hawke via console commands though.

I will say this much: If you're ever feeling froggy, make an archer Hawke (grab Seb's tree if you can,) then put Seb/Varric/Anders in the party.  The damage output was crazy and it actually redeemed Sebastian a bit in my eyes.

That's just my two coppers, anyhow.

*sigh* still wish I could've told him to for once stand on his own two feet and kill Anders with his own damn hands.

The waffling was annoying.

If he could've made it a headshot like that Qunari did to Peatrice I probably would've brofisted him.

I wish that had been at least an option, like in Mass Effect* with

Spoiler

That would have been fitting and there is a lot of players that would have appreciated that.  I usually don't go pro-Templar, but I would have picked that sort of option had it come up for those game sessions.

*In ME1, there is a part where you can ask a party member to shoot and kill another companion.

Where does he say that ? man...I never heard him say that . Then again....I never use him  save for doing his mission then I rush back to my favorite group (aveline+Varric+bela) .

Hum I agree . And Aveline is a guard , so from that view she has a duty to protect the townpeoples . As for Merrill , I think a good alternative (which I would have chosen ) is to tell Merril to either go back to the dalish , leave and go whever you want...or face being locked up . BUT at least to give her a choice (which to me its fair) , since..I think she isnt even a citizen to begin with...

Take Varric, Fenris and Seb with you during Act 3.  It should come up.  I keep running into it at the Gallows, but I think it's random like with the rest of the banter.  The conversation is between Seb and Fenris.

Sebastian: It's our duty to tell the templars.

Fenris: Then why haven't you done it?

Sebastian: I guess I was hoping they'd come to it on their own.

Fenris: And then you wouldn't have to betray Hawke's friends, right?

Sebastian: That's not reason enough to allow a maleficar to walk free.

(If Anders is in the party)

Anders: You think the templars don't know I'm here? They just haven't caught me yet.

(If Merrill is in the party)

Merrill: Are you talking about me?

Sebastian: Which of us should do it? Shall we draw lots? (personal note, he says it with an amused tone)

Fenris: Uh-uh. You want to turn them in, you work it out with Hawke.

I also cannot forget the fact that Alain was being raped in his quarters.

It's vaguely implied and it can be taken many ways, he could have been beating the snot out of Alain, not raping him and whatever it is only occurs if Karras survives.

Not to mention Alain was a blood mage and deserved worse, he deserved execution.

Alain only used it once to help Hawke out, but to say Alain deserved to be raped if that is what happened is LOW. Even if it is fictional.

That you see, that sort of magic does not exist in a vacuum, i do believe DA 2 made that very clear.

._. Blood Mages are evil and do need to be executed.

Then how else would you save the one they captured? Just leave them like that? Besides, if all blood mages should die, then any Templars who abuse their position for their own pleasures should die too.

In Z's defense, if we followed his "Kill all Blood Mages" policy we would never have been in that position since Grace would have died six years earlier.

Helloooooo!!! It's a "Sebastian Threat" topic, not "I Hate Anders", "Why I Think All Maleficars Should Burn", "A Dog Ate My Homework" topics! Can we not start these discussions here?

As for the topic - I really hope we can see Sebastian and whether he was romanced and which path (friendship/rivalry) was taken and whether we killed Anders would have some influence. I personally think that Sebastian possibly can raise an army and take over Starkhaven (but only if rivaled). And even if he does, it still doesn't mean he'll have enough forces to 1) retake Starkhaven; 2) maintain his position; 3) burn Kirkwall to the ground; 4) go and hunt Anders.

I'd really like him to appear just so I have an option to kill him. Or an option to deny him whatever he is asking of Inquisition (it seems likely that after we restore the Inquisition an heir of Starkhaven decides to ask us of support). And I really hope that his romance with Hawke gets mentioned somewhere. If it has some impact I'm even going to create a world state where mage Hawke friendmanced Seb and didn't kill Anders and sided with the mages.

And if he does attack Kirkwall, can the Inquisiion do something about it? Does it happen before the events of the game and we can only comment on it? If it happens sometime in game, can we lend him troops? Can we try to stop him? Sooo many possibilities!

I don't care about Grace, but Alain wanted nothing to do with the blood magic. That's why I always spared him because he wanted to do the right thing and not dabble in it.

But I will say nothing more on the topic.

Well...back with Sebestian, I hope he comes back, especially if you did choose Anders. And since Inquisitor is a different person, he/she might talk him out of it.

I for one would give Anders to Sebastian and go on my merry way.
