Sadly, my gaming PC is in a box being shipped to a new home overseas.
All I have with me is my MacBook Pro; the new 15", basic model.
Question is, is there any way I can play Dragon Age on this?
I fear using Parallels won't be up to the job; perhaps running XP on Boot Camp? Will the computer cope in any satisfying way? Or will I need to wait until my PC arrives at the other end in 6-8 weeks?
Yours,
itching to play but not sure how.
Any hope of laying this on my MacBook Pro?

I'm running this on a MBP, 2.66GHz C2D, 9600GT, boot camp, runs okay on medium-high 1650x1050, so I reckon you'll be fine.

This system will run the game, but you may need to cut graphics qualilty and/or resolution. Of course, you need to install Windows first.

do you think it would work with parallels? or should I really go for boot camp?

It depends. I do not know much about Parallels capabilities. Can it do 3D acceleration and enable full DirectX 9 support? If so, it might work, but it will be slower than using Windows on Boot Camp. A 9400GT is slow already; I assume that, when running under Windows in Boot Camp, you will be restricted to the lowest graphics settings and resolutions.

hmmm... you are probably right. all of which suggests to me that I should probably just behave myself and wait until my gaming pc arrives, and leave my mac intact as a working machine.
dang!
the temptation is strong when the fruit is so sweet. I am a game addict and not used to having to wait for my latest fix! so much for the Mac cold turkey approach (I deliberately didn't buy the better version because I told myself: this is not going to be your gaming machine)...

Hi
I am using the old Macbook pro model for this game. The one with the 8600m gt card.
It runs much better than i would have thought. Native resulotion (1440 - 900) high textures and rest on medium. If you have the 9600 gt then you should definetly be able to play the game decently.
