Well, regardless of race if the glowing figure is Andraste and she is the one who gives you your powers then the title is accurate.
I think it's up to the protagonist to determine who he (or she) believes the figure to be.

I doubt they will make it that black and white. I seriously don't think they will ever confirm that the figure is Andraste even if it is meant to be.
I maintain it's very likely the Inquisitor is a Hope Abomination.
\o/ we are already dead!
Zombinquisition!
It's a useful political tool. It might be galling, but we have to start somewhere.
I have green power from my hand . I don't need a title to make me who I'm .
Why would you want to turn down that title? I think it would go perfectly with the Tal-Vashoth Mage I plan on making.
I'm planning on my mage be the kind of 'grunt grunt' and zap left and right . The no-intellectual one since she is just a mere mercenary forced into a situation of not her making . Having green goo from my hand , wouldn't change her to become a super hero .
some people here are super anti-chantry and find offense to even the slightest bit of religious trappings being forced on their character.
I don't know if that was mean toward me , no , an rpg is all about choices . So yeah , this is my choice and it is my right to want to play a Qunari Mage that doesn't give a damn about religion , or titles .
It isn't about RELIGION as such . I explained above how I felt already . But I believe that I don't need a title to do what must be done . Sure if a title strike my fancy , I gladly wear it . In this case I feel I will not . But in general , I believe I really don't need a title to do right or wrong . Being called a Sith or a Jedi for exemple is just to show where you stand . In the end your action will reveal if you are truly a sith or a true jedi or something in between . (and I played a sith Light side
) .
I don't see why someone would necessarily embrace that title, particularly if the main character follows another faith. I don't see my Dalish, Dwarven, or Vashoth accepting the religious connotations associated with a religion none of them believe in.
Well, I rather think I like the roleplaying opportunities being named such will provide. With my character dazed and confused from the whole explosion at the start, I think he might be inclined to just go along with it at first.
That really seems the best way to start off.

Unless you are Dalish. The very thought would be insulting. Even though Andraste herself was good to elves it was her "followers" that screwed over the elves due to their refusal to accept her religion. To then be forced to embrace said religion is betrayal to your own people and history.

"What? That's ridiculous!"

"Quiet, Smooples!"
Liliana: What have you done to smooples!
I think if anything it'll be like that scene in Redcliffe from DA:O, where you can choose to stay silent during the Chantry priestess' invoking of the Maker, or actively participate. I doubt they would force you to accept the title. BioWare hasn't shied away from allowing non-Andrastian PCs to voice their dislike of the Chantry to others before. It wouldn't make any sense if you couldn't decline the title when you could sass that Chantry priestess in DA:O at Ostagar when she tries to confer a blessing onto you. We've been told that we can embrace or shy away from the title anyhow, so I don't really see any reason to worry about being forced into it. ![]()

Except you aren't the "Herald of the Chantry", you are the Herald of Andraste. She is almost as respected as much by the Dalish as by the humans. You're like a modern day Shartan. ![]()

That was Schmooples this is Smooples.

"Believed or not, some things must be accepted."

Andraste was simply a secular war leader to the Dalish, and personal opinion can vary on Andraste; Velanna certainly admired her, but the elven protagonist is capable of expressing she simply used their ancestors for her own ends, so it's possible the main character will have the same option to like or dislike her. Either way, the Dalish don't view Andraste as a divine figure, and wouldn't automatically assume she was the mysterious figure in the Beyond.

I don't wanna be the Herald of Andraste! I wanna be the Voice of The Ancestors, or Dumat Reborn, or Favored of Mythal!
What did I say?! You gonna be the Herald and your gonna like it our I'll turn this Inquisition around!

You are just trying to assume direct control
Just say it!

That would be too predictable.
Doubtful... I mean word will spread and the masses will need something to go on about, but I doubt we'll have to own it. Whatever helps them sleep at night. If a companion/friend starts calling me that though, I'll have to ask them to stop. pls.
Harby I miss your random ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL moments T~T

Andraste used the elves for her own ends? Either way, she's responsible for the elves being free of slavery. They should respect the woman if not the religion that she inspired. But, that's up to the individual PC I suppose, even if I don't see the rationale behind the disdain... It's not my place to decide what another players PC should think, after all.
if so i would be so delighted.I maintain it's very likely the Inquisitor is a Hope Abomination.
