I haven't tried it for a long time. Now that I'm an expert in Dark Souls 2 (still suck at killing bosses), I think I can play Dark Souls 1 on PC easier.

You can beat Dark Souls II a hundred times, but you're not a badass until you've beaten Dark Souls on PC with mouse and keyboard. Combine tough enemies and Dark Souls gameplay with controls that actively fight and try to kill you, you get a true test of skill.

Dark Souls is bound to agitate people. The Difficulty level and lack of handholding can be a major barrier for many.

On a similar note, Fallout 2 was probably the most painful game I've played. The combat wasn't as frustrating in the original, but combining the constant random encounters and quest/map backtracking(Vault City), I just hated getting through to the story sections. The lack of control in avoiding combat hurt the experience.

It's a great game and a terrible one.

I'm not really the biggest fan of Souls either, though to call it a worst game ever is a complete joke.

It's got some really cool things but it's also pretty grindy at times, just sawing through a neverending stream of mobs without enough breaks in the action, IMO.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Some of the spots like Darkroot Basin, Ash Lake, and a few others are a bit more exploratory, but it's still a very combat-heavy game. You can also just run past mobs to the next bonfire if you want, especially if you're trying to get to a boss.

Most of the storyline is covered either through optional descriptions or very brief moments in the games, so anyone going into Dark Souls without an interest in that type of gameplay is a byad idea.

- Mindjack

- War Z

- Big Riggs

- Terminator: Salvation

- Dead or Alive

- Ride to Hell

- Revelations 2012

Just to name a few. I understand when you get frustrated by the game or when it's not your cup of tea, i don't blame you. I stand up for a lot of terrible games myself. But how can people say stuff like Witcher or Dark Souls with so many other crap out there is beyond me.

Didn't like Dark Souls, too tough at my gamer point in life.  Back in my 20's years ago when there was a fierce competitiveness between myself and friends I could have played it but not now.  I found I was grinding like crazy just with the hope of beating the next boss and the loss dynamic if you died sucked.  Many people liked the challenge but not me.  Having said all that it in no way belongs in the worst game thread  (along with many other games mentioned).

My crystal ball says "No", but I really have no clue as I never played it.

Here is what Wikipedia has to say about the game's reception:

The game received mostly mixed reviews. Some praised it as an enjoyable side-scrolling shooter game, while others criticized it for its relentless difficulty, as a single hit would kill the character immediately, even from seemingly harmless things such as rubber ducks, and even from simply touching the walls, ceiling, or the floor.

The music of the game, however, is highly praised for its composition and technical accomplishments.[6][7]

In April 2013, GamesRadar ranked it as the 47th worst game ever made, as the staff felt that the game didn't do the character of Silver Surfer justice.[8]

It was bad enough to be ranked the 47th worst game of all time by someone though.

I knew rubber ducks were some of the most dangerous entities on this planet.

Sadly the Silver Surfer rubber duck turned to drug use after the failure of its game. It's a little more angry, ugly, and bitter in recent years.

Did anybody mention Aliens: Colonial Marines yet? Sure there are games that are worse, but none can match the level of betrayal.

It was an OK game. It was fun killing aliens and go around the solar systems "Commander Shepard style". Sadly there was a glitch/bug at one of the latest missions, where I couldn't kill a boss with any weapon...

I'm not sure if Colonial Marines could be considered a game. It's about as much of a real game as Big Rigs or Bad Rats are.

Ok, now that I've read this all and I'm filled with a sufficient amount of hate, I have to list one game:

spaceships_space_station_x_rebirth_1920x

This miserable pile of buggy, dumbed-down code was the biggest disappointment ever. Worse than DA2, worse than the ME3 ending. Ughh.

*shakes fist at Egosoft*

Almost bought it on release. Never played it myself, so there is no personal relationship to the game. Yet  I too hate it. World, including myself is starvin for a new space 'sim'. Everybody wanted this to be an awesome game. Everybody got..not a controversial love it vs hate it game, not an average game, but utterly dysfunctional piece of trash. : (

Funny fact: Up until Elite and SC get released, Galactic Starfighter attachment to The Old Republic is actually best and most atmospheric  space shooter available on market. Nobody knows this.  You can actually play SWTOR as a  Starfighter game, as opposed to touch stale talking heads&dialog wheels game.
