Foe heavens sake, get over it.

BioWare is just a little overcompensating for ME3, when a straight female Shepard could end up with zero LIs, while lesbian Shepards always got two full options, and male Shepards of all orientations had at least one full LI.

Every single other game out there caters to straight males. Can we not just be happy for everyone and get over it?

Try to look at it from a different perspective:

Number of male LIs from DAO that couldn't be disgraced or killed for plot reasons: 0

Number of male LIs from DA2 that couldn't be disgraced or killed for plot reasons: 0

Let's not try to rain on other fans' parades for a change.

Don't get me wrong, I agree the OP is ridiculous, but I'm trying to see your point here.

DAO:

Alistair can get disgraced and or killed? (But why would you if you romanced him?)

Zevran can get killed (If you didn't romance him and/or didn't get his approval up)

Leliana can be killed regardless of romancing

Morrigan leaves regardless of romancing.

DA2:

Fenris can be killed if you didn't get approval high enough, and one other spoilery thing, but if romanced he already has approval up (or rivalry)

Anders can be killed for spoilery reasons regardless of romance

Isabela can be gone for spoilery reasons if not enough approval

Merril has plot armour regardless of romancing. I assume she can leave? EDIT Apparently Merril can be killed too. Thanks Zehealingman

It seems any ending where the LI leaves/dies/is disgraced is entirely the players fault/choice except Morrigan's.

Mass Effect, on the other hand, is a whole other matter.

You can also kill Merril during the Last Straw.

But eh, look at if from this side: If you combine ME3 romances and DAIs, it is a probally balanced. :D

Please don't begin to argue with me over a joke.

Patrick and Karin Weekes are secretly elves and they want to shoehorn their elven agenda on you. Play as elven female PC, or else they will destroy you.

Seriously, it was discussed to death. Wait for the game and see what reasons writers of Vivienne and Solas had for creating them that way.

So long as you're getting two LIs to choose between, I don't see the problem...  If you don't like either of them, welcome to reality: people don't always have the same tastes in LIs.  Either rp as a character who is interested in another one of the characters or don't complete a romance questline.  It's pretty simple.  Also, this isn't the first time that Bioware has made a game in which one of the female party members wasn't an LI, so the fact that Vivienne is isn't one shouldn't be that hard to accept.  I'll just leave it at that since I don't get the OP's complaints at all and have already spent too much time talking about this with other people.

I thought they were trying to fix their average from the earlier fantasy games. In BG males got three, females got 1, and in NWN-HotU males got 2, females got 1.

I don't want to imply that I'm taking the OP's concerns seriously, but I agree it's a little odd that they prioritized Solas over Vivienne. A Cullen romance had a lot of fan support, so I can see how that got added.

Jeez...why is it people complain that others get more romance options?Straight players still get Cassandra,Ironbull,Blackwall,Solas, and Cullen.

I think this is really fitting for this kind of thread:

No, some people just theorize that Vivienne's "true agenda" might result in her betraying the Inquisition.

Not really.  The voice-over of a trailer just asked about Vivienne's "true agenda" and everyone ran with it.

Every single other game out there caters to straight males.

This, in my opinion.

I think it's great that female characters get more romance options. It fights back against the inequality across games.

So much for balance. There better be a damn goox plot reason for why Vivi is not romanceable.

It's you! She just doesn't love you!

Sorry. I know the truth must hurt.

I like the fact that the distribution of romances isn't "balanced".  It makes them seem less game-y.  It suggests the writers wrote the characters and provided romances where they fit, rather than providing romances as a gameplay element, and then writing characters around them.

This precisely.

Straight males get 2 options, just as we did in Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. We're not getting any less than we had in previosu games. Female Qunari and Female Dwarves also get two straight options. Female Humans and Female Elves are the only two to get more than two straight options. I have no problem with this. It serves the story and the characters within it.

Plus, we get Cassandra. The presence of Cassandra as an option automatically renders your point moot.
We also get Josephine. Josephine looks awesome.
