It is ironic yet quite revelatory that when someone raises a concern about lack of options for heterosexual males, most of the responses that they receive are shaming and dismissal whereas when there is a concern raised about the lack of option for those who are not heterosexual males, everyone is expected to empathize, to sympathize, to care, to grieve and to support them.

To there people I would just say :- "How very compassionate of you, how very equality driven of you, how very egalitarian of you and how very pro-more options of you to behave in this fashion. Next time, don't call yourself equalists or egalitarians or humanists. Next time, call yourself hypocrites for that is what you are."

As for the numbers, straight males have always gotten two in all Dragon Age games so far. The only issue I see now is that one of them is a more-sword-than-sense, religious, old and butch female which means most straight male would go for the intelligent, feminine, diplomatic and sophisticated female option.

Heterosexual male inquisitors get only two romance options in Cassandra & Josie while heterosexual female inquisitors get four options in Blackwall, Solas, Iron Bull & Cullen.

So much for balance. There better be a damn goox plot reason for why Vivi is not romanceable.

Where are we meeting up?  Whose yard are we going to burn the crosses in?

Surprised Vivienne isn't an option. I usually romance a female mage first time around in a Dragon Age game (Morrigan and Merril) for whatever reason, looks like that's not happening this time around. Actually fairly intrigued by the reason not to have her be an option.

There's always been two hetro male options every game until now anyway.

Whoa there . Now hold a sec !!

Look at the title of this topic ! This isn't a 'Why men have no romance' but why Someone else have MORE then ME!

Before you throw the word hypocrite...maybe you should look at the context of the title huh?

when there is a concern raised about the lack of option for those who are not heterosexual males, everyone is expected to empathize, to sympathize, to care, to grieve and to support them.

Because outside of Bioware , those OPTIONS DON'T EXIST !

"How very compassionate of you, how very equality driven of you, how very egalitarian of you and how very pro-more options of you to behave in this fashion.

I'm a women and a Lesbian . Where is your compassion when I had to play games since the Atari represented as a MALE? Where is it when I had to play as Mario ? Then Mario and Luigi ? and finaly in the 3rd Game , I'm stuck with a Pink princess whose power are simple raise your hand and float a little ?

Rightt....

I always find it ironic*and kinda sad really* when a catered to majority straight male whines about inequality and sexism when someone else*be they straight women or gays* gets extra content once in a blue moon.

It's neither ironic nor revelatory, nor does it implicate people who choose to support those with very little representation anywhere over those with all the representation ever. Like, does it occur to you that gay people who play these games are experiencing something rare and wonderful in being able to play a GLBT character in a s/s relationship and not feel castigated, shamed, or denied privileges because of it? The reason why we care so much is because this is pretty much all we have, and if this fails us, then we can't rely on other gaming companies, or even other media, to treat us with the same respect.

Now, if you were arguing about placing all of our expectations on BW and whether or not that is fair, then I might be inclined to agree with you. But acting like there's not a massive gulf between the group who usually gets the most being sad that they're suddenly not kings of the mountain anymore and a group who is perpetually shorted being upset that things didn't shake out the way they'd hope is disingenuous at best.

Yeah, I'm just poppin' in to add that, if you want equality you don't turn around and go "neener neener nee!" when the shoe is on someone else's foot. Even IF that is the usually privileged foot. Inequality is wrong no matter who it affects. That being said I see no inequality here cuz inequality is not purely about numbers which seems to be something a lot of people struggle with.

The man's gotta point. Imagine the outrage if the straight male demographic were 'catered to' and we responded with a flurry of 'deal with it' memes and attitude. It is more than a little hypocritical. Luckily romances and love interests are neither here nor there for me personally. Something of a bonus.

Cassandra's old?

Age is relative and so yes, to some (like me) Cass is old. She's like what? Mid 40's? This is obviously not old as in decrepit-shouldn't-be-lifting-things old but it is cougar old.

They have a reason, but I don't know if you'll like it. BioWare is trying to force you to be gay. You should probably stop playing their games and delete your account before it's too late.

I'm a straight male and I really don't care that straight male Inquisitors get less options than straight female human and elf Inquisitors.  And I say straight male Inquisitors because you as the gamer are not romancing anyone, your Inquisitor is.  Here's a simple fix to a simple 'problem': play as different sexuality/gender/race.

You really think that a gay player who complained about straight female PCs getting too many romances would get any more sympathy?

We could test this proposition, I guess. I'd give it a shot myself but I don't think I can credibly masquerade as gay on this board. Anyone else care to give it a shot?

That was my impression. I wouldn't call that old myself. Then again, I'm 50.

How old are the other companions? I don't think any of them are teenagers this time around, which is a refreshing change for Bio.

What? Surely you don't expect him to *roleplay* in an RPG? D:

I find it a bit odd Vivienne can't be romanced, but I don't really see why Human and Elf females getting more romances than straight males is a big deal.

Then again I don't see why these forums are as obsessed with romances are they are.
