The blue crushing prison move he has comes up with no warning all the time. If he cast it the first time I see the blue ring and have time to run out of it, but he'll cast it again before the first one is gone. When he does it comes up with no waring my party is already in it before the blue ring even shows up.

My question is if it's suppose to be like this?

That thing's nasty.  It's why most high-level Hybris strategies on higher difficulties rely very heavily on one tank and a party full of ranged and healing.  Even still, I die a fair bit on it.

Hybris is voiced by Mark Meer, a.k.a, male commander Shepard from Mass Effect.  I have no idea what the rings are called, but I tend to refer to them as his biotics now.

Hahahaha damn biotics! I read on the wiki that there is suppose to be a warning before it goes off but if he cast them right after it just starts up with my dudes traped. He also seems to get caught in it as well which the wiki says shouldn't happen post v1.3 but I have v1.4.

I remember his hands glowing before he used it, but it wasn't much.  I tended to run a lot - harder when playing on melee, easier when it was just Aveline tanking.

I find that battle tough, and glad to know it's not just me.  I find it helps hugely if I stack the nature protection (a lot of what he throws at you is poison) and fire damage (he's weak to it).  I tend to do it just before I run off to Orlais and MArk of Assassin, since stacking nature protection is very helpful when fighting wyverns too.

I do not recall having trouble with this, but may be seeing something else than described here. I have large blue rings that appear well before any effect is shown, and can move any of the Party out of range in time as desired.

But I also have the entire party well away from each other, so it is rare when more than one will be trapped together if that is the case. And I use Spells and Talents that offer rapid transport on characters when possible to help vacate quickly when needed (eg; Back to Back, Stone's Throw, etc).

An good strategy for hybris is to bring Merrill, who can use dispel and horror. Just use dispel when hybris is about to cast the spell, and then horror to leave it vulnerable. This fight is easiest with an rogue assassin Hawke.
