1. Opulent? Dude, these guys own a datapad, a commlink, a lightsaber, and like three robes. What more do you want them to give up?

Their Hangar Bay was paid for by the Republic, Their Temple? Paid for by the republic, Their security? Contracted and paid for...by the republic, Their food, electricity, all the resources they need, paid for by the republic.

Oh and don't even get me started on their bloody starfighters.

2. Nothing, because they can't. Jedi have never ruled over anything. They have always been subservient to the Galactic Republic, which has in turn endowed them with their authority and power.

Tell that to the Jedi who mediate in disputes and their opinion overruling the law then, It happened long before the clone wars before you toss in that excuse of "war time powers"

Beyond that what authority? What Power? They aren't a militant body affiliated with the republic in any official capacity, they are not subject to rules and regulation, they aren't subject to anything beyond their own hypocritical little backwater of an order.

3. I assume you've never played KOTOR? The Sith lie to themselves more than anyone. They think the Dark Side is all about freedom and independence and never having to take orders from anyone, when really it's about childish rebellion, petty cruelty, and mindless hatred.

Many,Many times.

You obviously misconstrue the Darkside then.

It isn't senseless destruction or petty cruelty or mindless hatred.

It is ultimately about the power of the individual and bending the will of others and ultimately the galaxy to the individual, it is about not submitting to restriction and embracing the sensation that come along with life, its about relishing in what it is to be alive.

Emotions are but a tool, they are not meant to dominate the Sith but to be dominated by them. It is about harnessing them for power, to embrace what makes a person truly alive, what they experience, what they feel and what they are.

It's about accepting the reality of the universe.

The Strong dictate the weak.

I don't view it inaccurate when i compare it to a social Darwinist order.

Needless to say, I disagree with everything you said, but we're in the Dragon Age forums, so we best get back on topic.

That's kind of a nihilistic viewpoint. I can't really argue against that. Do you think the Darkspawn are morally the same as everyone else?

What do you mean by morally same as everyone else? Even humans aren't morally same as morality is what humans came up and it only exist in their head.I would simple say that darkspawn are amoral and they are just driven by own nature like any other species including humans.

._.

Everything?

Even the things that aren't opinion?

I admit my interpretation of the darkside is just that, but everything i mentioned about the Jedi did occur in lore.

So, you think that darkspawn=everybody else, for all intents and purposes?

Getting back on topic, character wise I really liked the depiction of the templars in current time. Their was a hanizing element after DA2 and Asunder.

Personally I thought Gaharel was awesome. His charismatic nonchalance about anything to stop the blight could have been more developed but it was nice.

To be honest the blight was the real star of the story in its way, the author did a great job of showing what a blight really does. Much better then DAO.

If by that you mean they are creatures with own nature and goals like other species yes.

I agree with your entire post.

Especially the Templar part

Darkspawn literally have no morality because they're not thinking beings for the most part. They're basically Orc-Borg-Zombies.

Heh..My Dalish Warden would disagree. I was prepared for being dragged kicking and screaming all the way to Ostagar.

So your character preferred to become a ghoul?

Not really they just hated the idea of choices being made for you. Would have liked the suicidal option.

Game over man, Game over!

It is strange, though, but it's always the Dalish Origin people hate the Wardens the most on.

The only thing I didn't like about not liking the Wardens was that I was pretty much the only person in the whole party who (had the option to) voice those opinions. Everyone around you thinks it's great. In that respect, the DAO party isn't very diverse. Compared to DA2, which had a wide variety of squadmate opinions on Hawke.

Well when you get in character some human wants to take you away from your clan to be used to fight legions of Monsters.

Yeah, it comes off worse than others. Not sure any other origin compares really.

They could have played up that.

Dalish: I WILL NEVER HELP SOME SHEM!

Keeper: I'm so proud of you! A Grey Warden! Congratulations.

Dalish: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!

Merrill: Good luck! Write! I'm going to work on the Eluvian while you're gone.

Keeper: Oh being a Grey Warden is for life. You have a new clan now.

Dalish: NO I DON'T!

Keeper: Goodbye!

Dalish: HELP!

*elves help drag the Dalish Warden off to Ostagar*

You can imagine that right? Feeling of betrayal being sent away by those who you thought were your family especially after if you asked about your mother and father but you were content to at least have your clan but then this happens  regardless if it for your own good being forced to fight some war on behalf of Human King. It can make a person resentful. Perhaps even vengeful enough to side with Werewolves and murder fellow Dalish.

The same goes for the Cousland, probably, though I never interpret it in that way myself.

The darkspwan killed my friend, and tainted me. My character wanted revenge.
And the taint would've taken you from your clan regardless.
I'm not saying you shouldn't hate the idea (or even Duncan). Just explaining the thoughts of my own dalish.

And no, there was hate for the Cousland origin as well.

Never had an issue with the Cousland Origin. It's my canon playthrough

The Blight can potentially destroy the all world. I much prefer to work with the human king then let them destroy world.
Though the perspective of your character is very interesting.

No one likes owing anyone, it seems.

Duncan agrees to rescue you for eternal service.

Awkward, that.

It's mine as well :).
I read people hating Duncan because he forced the Cousland to go with him and not let him die with his family.

Well you could die with your family but that's the end of the game.

I don't have much problem myself with this.
My canon Cousland is Thankful to Duncan. Being a Warden saved him from madness, and gave him the option to take revenge on Howe.

I guess people are fond of the Deathseeker trope.
