The worst thing about DA(to me)  - is their choice to deprive otherwise interesting creatures of sapience.

The mabari, the dragons and the griffons should ALL have been given sapience and the ability to communicate.

One of the things I always loved of LoTR - is that, despite the idiots who've only watched the movies - there's a very clear reason why the Eagles don't just fly into Mordor while the Dark Lord is stirring (as opposed to after his defeat).  They're NOT pack animals - and they tell Gandalf this straight away.

I think the mabari and "maybe" griffons (depending on their actual intelligence) are huge missed opportunities to make DA unique.  Dragons less so - since they are, more often than not, sapient entities.  But still, they're DRAGONS... animal dragons are so much less interesting (to me).

I think all the books released after DA2 will have some. Asunder provided the background for the mage/templar conflict, TME for the Orlesian civil war while this one shed a little light on the Wardens' problems. However, the griffons will probably be briefly mentioned at best.

I think my favorite non-spoiler line is" The Warden Commander can make sweet passionate love to an Ogre."

Is that the reason? they refuse to fly since the are not pack animals? Its serious questions since I have always wondered why they don't just fly but never found an answer.

thanks

Is this a joke or a REAL line from the book? :)

@lostforever:  No, it's more complicated than that - but it's a sticking point for them that they're not a transit system.  They're proud animals - and the reason they won't fly into Mordor while the Dark Lord is at full power is because they're birds - not gods - and the place is packed with orcs with arrows, flying wraiths and a giant flaming eyeball... and the sky is notoriously lacking in rocks to hide behind.

It would never, ever have worked and would have alerted the Enemy WAY sooner than walking did.

Wow what you posted in your first spoiler is pretty cool, a good description. I will leave now, since I plan on reading the book today. :)

I don't know how to insert the spoilers button so will try to keep this vague. A non-Warden character in the Fourth Blight storyline says this after hearing of the plans of the Warden-Commander for her from other Wardens.

The Warden Commander ordered some people to a town.(yes I'm being non-spoiler) someone not in his command and a cousin to the Prince, stated that line and went with the two elves to a fort instead.

The battle scenes are great. I am thinking of getting a hard copy also. Nice short but fun read. Can see signs of DA:I in the background.

Overall, I really like the lore set-ups that The Masked Empire and Last Flight have set up and I'm hoping to we get to interact with them in Inquisition.

Be this some dream I wake from? One of the coolest characters in DA. I wonder how he's doing in Janeka's body?

I doubt he'll be in either body. Bioware will probably make him find another host, so that the won't have to use two different VA.

I wonder what the repercussions of that will be, if the Inquisitor does encounter and defeat Corypheus. The defeat of an ancient Magister of the Imperium can be a symbolic victory, for a Chantry loyalist or a Dalish elf.

He's probably bodyhopping like crazy. He's also probably hidden in the Warden Commander of Orlais' body.

It'd certainly win some major reputation points among those loyal to the Chantry. Very, very symbolic. That said, I'm not entirely sure if he's doing his own thing or if he's working with the Elder One.

I hope its the former or atleast that he is an equal ally.

I don't want Cory to become just another pawn for the Elder One.

Corypheus was a disciple of Dumat, so I'm not sure why he would work with the Elder One (although there might be valid reasons, since we know so little about this enigmatic antagonist right now). A symbolic victory against Corypheus could be very powerful for a pro-Chantry Inquisitor who has allied with the Andrastian organization, or with a Dalish elf - given what the Imperium did to the ancestors of the People; I hope there are significant repercussions (and 'reputation points' as you say), and that the people acknowledge the defeat of this ancient Magister; I'm sure Varric would spread the story to the masses.

I now have an hilarious image of Cory literally jumping all over the place in search of new bodies in my head.
