Height doesn't bother me at all. The only race and gender combination I can't play is male dwarf, but that's because I don't like playing characters with full beards and any dwarves I try to make without beards look stupid. Varric is the only dwarf that can get away with being beardless, but that's because he's so sexy anyway.

Im assuming with the new character creation system and engine, making a beardless dwarf wont be an issue

About as much as gender, little to none.

I like playing Dwarves for the lore. Their height doesn't really matter to me.

Aside from wanting a dwarf to romance Iron Bull... not at all.

Height is a little bit of a factor for me when playing dwarfs, I admit. Though usually I avoid male dwarfs cos of the beards since I'm not a bit beard fan (with exceptions). But those are superficial nonsense that keeps me from enjoying my game, so in DAI I plan to play both male and female dwarfs and I'm sure I'd love it.

Damn, OP. That short thing? Yeah, that is pretty shallow. I can't help saying that - I'm 5'1". I'm looked down on all the time. And honestly? I'm fine with it. I'm travel/fun sized. I'm cute. So are dwarves.

And as for romance, height difference + race difference is usually an absolute must for me.

If it meant I could FINALLY romance a female Qunari as a human male, fugg it, would not care.

Not at all. I don't care. I'm just as excited to play the short, stout dwarf as I am to play the tall, buff vashoth. I find it very petty and shallow to say no to a race over something as ridiculous as height.

I'm tall in real life, but I kind of like playing average height heroes. Here, it's humans and elves, I guess.

Also, this is only my personal guideline, but I like the giant of the group to just be the Muscle and asskicker. They come off as too dominant as leaders.

Petty and shallow... wow, that's pretty strong language.  Some people don't feel comfortable playing as characters who are extremely short or extremely tall.  *shrugs*  I don't see what the big deal is.

It doesn't, but I do prefer being the average height. Regardless, I've rolled elves and dwarves, and I'll roll a qunari this time as well.

God forbid someone has some personal preference in the character THEY want to make. Thats like calling someone shallow because they like a more muscled body type, im not saying they are inferior for being short, im saying its not my style.

Eh I don't play dwarves. Too short. I feel awkward.

Probably wouldn't stop me from romancing one though.

Yeah, I think the "petty and shallow" argument might be a bit more acceptable if we were refusing to date a dwarf or qunari in game, but not wanting to play as one is completely different.  Extremes in height are disorienting for me... I don't want to have to look up at people constantly nor do I want to be towering over the rest of the team.  It's more than a superficial distaste for the races and I'm not going to feel bad about feeling that way.

Yeah I tried to play a lady dwarf to romance Alistair in origins but the constant craning of her neck to look at everyone after her origin was over made me wanna throw something. I don't mind towering though ;)

But yeah it's just personal preference *shrug*

Well since you are already tall then I'm sure it wouldn't seem odd... :P

I'll be hanging out in the elf-human range. ^_^

XD nope I always wanted to be taller.

Elf just barely scrapes my tolerance for being shorter than everyone. Just barely.

Tall is overrated. You'll hit your head on light fixtures, grow up with never quite the right waist and length for pants to feel comfortable.. and it's harder in general to build muscle mass. Among other things. :)

edit: Oh yeah, I think drunks start more crap with me. Like I'm a big target to challenge. Seriously.

:0  I see... well then I don't get it at all because I'm 5'11'' and would not want to be an inch taller...  neither irl nor in a game.

But see, this is what I mean when I say that people can have complex reasons for why they do or do not feel comfortable playing as different types of PCs.  To look only at the most superficial of the potential explanations is an oversimplification...

I like playing as dwarves just because of their height/build. I really don't care for the dwarven lore. On the lore front, I vastly prefer the elves over everything else.

We're the same height :P (screw me feet though. They're freaking tugboats I swear).

True I want to play the female towering over most males :3 it's why I was so looking forward to femqunari (*grumbles*)

I tend to flee from drunks...worst I had was some dude who refused to let go of my wrist til I got an intervention. that was discomforting.

I don't find it petty or shallow. People have different preferences when it comes to dating/romancing/bumping bellies, etc. Just how it is.

Are you a guy or girl? Because I suppose girls have it worst when it comes to drunks and belligerents.

I'm a guy, so it's not that bad. I just think I might be somewhat of a drama magnet if someone is looking for a fight.
