when would u like ME4 to happen? if it is going to have some relevance to the Trilogy, would you prefer to have it b4/after the trilogy.

Personally, I would prefer it to be b4 so that we can experience the games without any stupid retcons.

I mean how are they going to make a game when everyone is green (if you choose synthesis). And what if u never choose that? Destroy/Control are easier to 'retcon' because there can be new enemies/reapers coming back and such (Shepard can remain the Legend) but not when everyone is green! don't think they would make a game when the whole galaxy is green or not. so it would defintely be retcon if it is after the trilogy. Either everyone turns green (even if u didnt choose it) or that the green thing is actually only temporaily. The Space Wizard lied. and this will cause anger among players who make those choices. Im sure Bioware wouldnt want that.

then again, i defintely wouldnt mind some proper closure to the trilogy.

oh well..

Meh, this has been debated in a variety of forms for the past year. You won't find a general consensus of what people want either. I think that the majority of people on this board(which isn't a big majority) want ME:Next to be a sequel and to have High-EMS Destroy be the "canon" ending. The main reason behind this is if the next game takes place before or during the series, then the "big-a** Reaper invasion" will overshadow the plot of the next game.

Maybe so, but it would still make the accomplishments of the new protagonist seem pointless because the Reapers are still going to crash the party later on.

Although there is scope for stories set during that time, as pointed out it would be hard to ignore either the reaper threat or invasion, which ultimately means the game would just be a derivative of what we have.

Playing it you would be constantly wondering what shep was up to, or how it will tie into that. Not saying it wouldn't be interesting, but maybe as a dlc and not a full game.

Right now it could go either way really.

But their small scale poll resulted in people wanting a sequel. And that includes me too.

I don't care for prequels/side-quels at all. Plus they could show off some of those writing skills if they pull of something to encompass every ending without taking the easy way out.

After. Please be after. I mean, obviously, we know what's gonna happen.

Well, I suppose a prequel would still beat a reboot or even worse, a reboot dressed up as a sequel...

You know, something like "Yeah, there was a reaper war and shepard and all the other races beat them, but humanity never recovered from that. Here is your reboot. Start scavenging and looking for a new home for humanity." Makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Problem with a prequel is we know what happens before the reapers already. Also you'd have to look at cooldowns or thermal clips then there's the biotic implants and Normandy weapons/tech not invented yet yadda yadda and what you have is a bunch of people complaining that they've technically retconned the prequel before it even began and ruined the lore/universe or even rendered the original story defunct by proxy.

Just do a sequel with a few vague mentions of the original instalments bioware!

Sequel. Anything else would just be them taking the easy way out

There's no easy way. Prequel and sequel can be good or bad. It depends on how they are written.

IMO, a prequel really sucks.
