So go with Josie.  She seems to be the more classically beautiful and demure type, if you're more inclined to that sort.  The game can't give everyone what they want on an individual level.  Myself, I wanted Solas, who happens to be early-to-mid forties in age, at least five to ten years older than my Inquisitor would be.  But he's off-limits to my male elf, and that's just how it is.

Though sometimes I think Cass is wasted on the "straight male" demographic.  -_-

I wouldn't call Cassandra a waste. I mean I liked Aveline in DA2, she was in my party for a lot of the time. I liked having Aria as a temporary follower. Both are strong women.

Brushing aside Cassandra's age because you can make the argument that this is a fantasy game with magic, with alchemy and Cassandra is a trained warrior so aging can be mitigated or it does not matter so much, I suspect the primary issue I will have with Cassandra as a woman that my Inquisitor can romance in DA:I is the primary issue I had with Leliana in DA:O which is her religious belief, her Chantry alignment, her faith in the Maker and her Andrastianism.

Religious women and me, of all ages, never and I mean never got along well.

I will say it out here that if Leliana was not religious and instead remained the cute deadly storytelling bard she truly is, I would have dropped Morrigan for her in a heartbeat.

Aveline in DA2 also at one point in the game says that there might not be a Maker which shows her willingness to doubt.

Somehow I don't see Cassandra to be like that though.

ANOTHER CASSANDRA'S NOT GOOD LOOKING THREAD?

I think Solas looks like a freaking Nosferatu but I think we got a whooping 2 threads (that were weeks apart at that) about Solas looks. Meanwhile Cass seems to get a thread every day.

Good grief. Her looks aren't going to change. If it bothers you...romance someone else.

I'm not even surprised anymore.

This is the 5654685679th thread about Cass. Let's wait for the next one.

Aveline was gorgeous. If I had a choice between her and Isabela (whose romance I really enjoyed) it would be Aveline, without question.

Don't assume all straight males think of Cassandra in such a way, it's a rather unfair genralization for those of us who are absolutely stoked she is an option for us and are looking forward to seeing how it plays out in the game.

To quote Cassandra's writer, David Gaider:

[DG]: What we find in Inquisition is a Cassandra who's realizing the world doesn't work like she believed it does. Her duty is not absolute, and perhaps neither is her faith. Having doubt need not make either of those things weaker, however, and that's the path that Cassandra has to now walk.

We'll see.  I'm planning on trying to romance her with a Dalish elf who has his own beliefs and not the shiniest view of the Chantry, so I've had some concerns. But she doesn't appear to be a zealot, and as long as there can be a place halfway they can meet, that will be more than enough.

That statement was mostly tongue-in-cheek, no worries.  Though it does get a little frustrating when guys keep complaining about her being old and ugly when I would have loved to romance her with a female Inquisitor, and I know many others would have as well.

I agree OP she looked very beautiful in DA 2 but sadly she looks horrible iN DA:I

I mean I understand that she is a warrior but that doesn't mean she can't be a good looking woman

Meanwhile Cullen looks better than ever but thats Bioware logic for you

In DA2, all the women almost had the same faces except Aveline. The engine was like that, so yeah we can't really count that game (same for DAO).

DAI finally gets the change to have unique faces and they don't look similar anymore, thankfully.

but did she really have to look so masculine? I'm ok with female characters not looking like hot models (TW2) but

it wouldn't hurt if she looked a bit more feminine

That is really a matter of personal taste. I think she looks gorgeous.

She has very interesting eyebrows. Thick at the start, fine at the end. Notice the left one (your left) has a gap in it. A scar perhaps?

Her nose is tiny! It's so cute! In fact, her bone structure in general seems delicate.

yeah...Even i find cullen much more attractive and I'm a straight male. Maybe I should start question myself if I'm really straight....

I really don't understand why Bioware decided at least 50% of the romance options for straight males have to be unattractive.(100% in my opinion) Why didn't they give us a "conventional" attractive li like leliana  when we only have 2 options (her being bi would also give gay people another option) and straight female players get someone like cullen? And why wasn't cullen  made uglier the same way lthey did it with cassandra? While cassandra was made more and more unattractive between dawn of the seeker and dragon age inquisition the opposite happended with cullen between dragon age origins and inuqisition. And why are strong woman (not man) warriors not allowed to look attractive? so many questions....

She doesn't look like masculine to me. She's perfect.

Have you noticed her left earlobe (her left) has a funny sort of pointed shape in the middle? It's just begging to be nibbled on. :D

Femine qualities? Cassandra is romantic under her harder exterior and her armor has hearts. Or are you just talking about her face and how "manly" it is?

Dawn of the Seeker occurs 20 years before Dragon Age Inquisition. In that movie, we see Cassandra as a young woman. Idealistically speaking, she could be 18 years old in DoTS. However, realistically speaking, she would be in her early 20s, probably 23 or 25 years old. Which means that idealistically, she will be 38 years old in DA:I and realistically, she will be 43 - 45 years old in DA:I.

Straight men of all ages usually go for young females ranging from mid 20s to their early 30s. If this is not the case, we would see a lot more cougar marriage and cougar relationships going on. Plus, 45 years old, that's my mother's age. I am not into MILFs, I know there are other straight men that are into MILFs but that just creeps me off.

All in all, Cassandra is a old butch female with more sword than sense. I prefer intelligent and ladylike women and Cassandra is neither one of those.

So its either Josephine Montilyet or no romance for me.

It was an anime movie. She was probably closer to 16, in the typical anime "child prodigy" fashion.  ;)

My guess is that DA:I's Cassandra is in her mid to late thirties, I'm guessing 34-38. (or even early thirties, depending on what they do with DotS)

Alas, Gaider and the entirety of the DA team is known for their retcons and brushing things off under the proverbial carpet.

This happened with Leliana. Her possible death at Haven notwithstanding, regardless of what you with Leliana, by that I mean, regardless of whether you harden her or not which translates to making her less religious to embrace her bard / spy-ness (harden) or more religious (not hardened), Leliana behaves the same way.

So that is the thing I am worried about Cassandra. We might be able to persuade her to not be religious or to be less religious but dat' retcon hammer is around....

Nah, Aveline is way more resonable then Cassandra, and prettier. I would romance Aveline over Cassandra any time, day or night.

Dawn of the Seeker took place in 9:22.  DA2 ended on 9:40.  That's 18 years so do try to get your timeline right.

Remember Dragon Age takes place in a more medieval setting with some modern ideas thrown into their culture so seeing a 15 year old being considered an adult isn't that strange.  Really, I'm leaning more towards Cassandra being 18 in Dawn of the Seeker but if she was 15 then it wouldn't surprise me at all.

it seems like some kind of "payback" because straight males are everywhere in games/tv shows etc.

With DA:I they decided to give straight females more options and then they went on and made Cassandra ugly and extremly unattractive

and don't say its because she is a warrior who participated in many battles because like you said what about Cullen?

that dude looks better than ever before and he has seen some crazy stuff

Sure I will find another romance option but I'm just really pissed with what they did to Cassandra and I was really looking forward to romance her since DA 2...

If I had to have any kind of quibble about Cassandra's looks, it would be the hair, but then again Bioware doesn't really do good work with hair in the first place and it's usually up to modders to fix the problems with hair.

As a straight male, Cassandra is gorgeous. As far as pixel ladies go, anyway.
She doesn't need to conform to the traditional sense of 'teh hawtness' to be attractive.

Also, Aveline would have been my first choice for romance, if she were available. I have a thing for strong women with defined facial features, I suppose.

God no. I hated Aveline.

It's not that she was a strong, capable fighter. Didn't have a problem with that.

I had a problem with the fact that she was a self righteous, judgmental busybody who made a point of getting into everyone's business and telling them how to live their lives.

Could not stand that ****.

I'm aware the blonde girl wasn't her. She was even younger than Cassie.

And since you compared her to Mikasa yourself earlier... guess how old that one is.
