If orlais falls the either 3 things happen
A) fereldan and other states war for dominance
B) qunari begin their alledge conquest
C) orlais has a rough patch but bounces back

My dream would be for Alistair and Anora have a daughter who marries an Orlesian imperial heir and they create a new empire in Thedas absorbing Nevarra and wage a bloody war with the Qun and Tevinter Imperium. XD haha.

But again thats a dream. but i doubt we will see too much world changing events. i doubt a country will just disappear off the map.

that was just my attempt at satire of how some fans see worse case senarios. I agree that tje most we change is circle regulation and who sits on orlais' throne

Yeah, let's homogenize all the different nations and cultures of Thedas into one Orlesian knock off. It'll be so much more boring interesting that way!!

What could possibly go wrong? I'm sure create a new empire in Thedas that represent humanity and absorbing other nations with diverse culture will be that simple. They all will understand that the common threat like Qunari or Tevinter Imperium threaten them all, and thus they will work together...oh wait.

For one you don't need to dis everyone's opinion and two and unified thedas is only a good thing. and culture melding would bring both ferelden and orlesian things together. you see a big example of this in New Orleans. which has heavy french and spanish influence and has create a new culture out of that wish dishes and music influenced heavenly by both.

Culture changes. Ash warrior being Vanguard for Chevaliers. now that's a scary sight.

Orlesian university accepting ferelden scholars to bring knowledge in and bring knowledge back to ferelden to then use to better more peoples life. doesn't sound like that bad of a dream. and again it is just a dream. i could also dream ferelden wasn't so isolationist and would actually attempt to help thedas. but that doesn't mean it will happen.

and do remember i said IT WAS A DREAM and it was also joke i was making to a friend. do you think i believe its possible? of course not. if it did happen would it help thedas? yes. but i dont think its possible one bit. before trying to make a counter argument know what i speak of and the mood i say it in.

How about it's their different diverse cultures that actually makes Thedas an interesting place. Creating an Anti-Qunari Human Empire means a bunch of Fereldans, Marchers, and Nevarrans acting like Orlesians. You'd be basically trading three root cultures for one.

You've convinced me....

that you're the most naive person on this forum. No offense. Naiveté has the upside of not being tarnished by cynicism.

Lets play nice guys lol homogenization is a popular opinion here. Naive? Depends on the reader. But humans have tried for centuries and yet to succeed. We have free will which makes it impossible

Concerning Briala - I know elf fans will refute me, but she says, and I quote:  "...for the elves of Orlais."

Even if the Eluvians aren't magically binding - meaning only Orlesian city elves can use the Eluvians... it states VERY CLEARLY her mindset for her revolution.

Not only does she not include the Dalish - but that she still considers the elves of Orlais part of Orlais is very relevant.

While I won't care if she goes full rebel maiden elf representative - I think a lot of elf lovers are going to feel rage when/if she doesn't fit their exact mold.

If you're looking for a serious answer culture and religion is not always synonymous. A Fereldan Andrastian would live his or her life relatively different from an Rivaini Andrastian or Nevarran Andrastian. Their God and beliefs may have a lot of similarities, but their culture and customs would vary greatly. Empires on the other hand try to instill a sense of 'national identity' out of self-interest if nothing else.

@monkey:  And considering Thedas has sapient races that are incompatible - homogenization is doubly impossible.

There is no reality where two sapient species will ever get along for long as equals.. it's just not going to happen (and if our Overlords ever do show up in their shiny ships - we all better get ready to be food or slaves).

The Federation (or the Citadel - to keep it Bioware ) is a ludicrous myth... and I'm glad Dragon Age seems to agree.

i was trying to make a joke.(humor is like edi's unless its a dirty joke) and im aware the difference. I personally dont approve of uniformity primarly each culture brings something to the table be it magic or customs

Fereldan is weak and barbaric...the problem with fereldan is its full of fereldans.

A newly powerful Tevinter Imperium will end the chaos.

At the very least a dead/deposed Celene and a new ruler Gaspard De Chalons will right Orlais.

I have never understood the love of Fereldan and hate of Orlais. Fereldan is a backwater dump. Orlais is prosperous and civilized. I much prefer the intrigue of Val Royeaux to the barbarity and drabness of Denerim. Of course Minrathous is better than all. :)

Of course, let's draw borders completely ignoring the wishes of the lay people.  Because who gives a crap about the peasants when the nobility are vile.

It's best for the most people if Orlais doesn't collapse.  Ferelden is in no position to be exerting influence, it's too poor and still recovering.  Orlais is probably the most populous nation on Thedas.  It would be disastrous to simply annex huge territories because what would happen would be all of a sudden, most Nevarrans are Orlesian.  As long as Orlais has more people, they can just pull a Revolutionary France and open a can of whoopass on your sorry asses.  You'll be overwhelmed by sheer numbers  Unless, that is, you're fine with ethnic cleansing, in which case I won't waste my time with you.

Orlais is likely to have it's fangs chipped of a bit... maybe a lot, combine that with the major hit the Chantry has taken and Orlesian imperialism is likely to suffer, and that's a good thing. Let those masked pompous nobles face a crisis, might teach some humility.

Ferelden? They ended a Blight on record time and kicked the most powerful nation in the nuts, all in the same century. What is a hellmouth in the sky spitting demons for them? Nothing, they'll be fine.
