Best Dragon Age Horror Story was, "The Chronicles of Racist Dalish Warden."

* Doesn't help Redcliffe village so more Shems are killed.
* Kills Isolde with Blood Magic then hands over Jowan to maximize the causalties

* Kills Leliana and Wynne to spite the Chantry and pollute their relic

* Kills Genetivi then claims it's to hide the secret.

* Annuls the Circle to weaken the Shems of Magic

* Sides with Branka so more Golems will make it more likely dwarves will kill humans in the future. Sides with Bhelen because he seems to likely bring conflict to humans.
* Kills Loghain and has Alistair executed.
* Sacrifices self so they don't have to live in a world with Shem.

I believe you would have to spare Loghain to execute Alistair, so feed one to the Archdemon I suppose.

Dalish live pretty well I think. Nomadic wise, they seem much better off than most humans.

Nomadic life has a certain romanticism to it I suppose, me I prefer my hole in the ground

there's a reason historically that hunter gatherers end up replaced by a sedentary lifestyle

and because of that independence, it is their fault they live in such conditions, they cannot blame humans for it, they cannot blame city elves for it

Pretty much this. ^

True, that would be the best option.

SOMEONE has to kill Shems in Awakening after all.

Sadly, Velanna isn't a romance option.

She has the right attitude at least.

Plus, no competition after you execute the Shem Nathaniel.

The Chronicles of Racist Dalish Continue

* Execute Nathaniel
* Execute Anders
* Burn Amaranthine

* Leave Vigil's Keep unupgraded to maximize casualties

Tis a good expansion!

Perhaps you saw something I didn't. Where in DA2 could Hawke be against the Chantry, or show disbelief in Andraste and the Maker?

There are a few times you can when talking with Elthina.

Ferelden is an Andrastian nation. Being culturally Andrastian doesn't necessitate that one is religiously Andrastian, or that one supports the Chantry of Andraste; DragonFlight and I made it clear we were addressing the cultural aspect, not the religious aspect.

And I disagree with there being such a thing as culturally Andrastrian. Anything Andrastrian in the nations we've been to has been religious in nature.

no that's not what I said, the Dalish are to blame for their current living conditions by virtue of their independence

City elves don't get a say unless they leave

But the same principle applies to both. If both could just decide to stop and do something else, surrender or leave and become like the other, how is anything more the fault of one or the other?

Anyway, I still don't really know how one would blame either. It's the laws and hostile environment created by humans that are the root of the problem. Any choices that the City Elves or Dalish Elves have are all in response to that.

and because of that independence, it is their fault they live in such conditions, they cannot blame humans for it, they cannot blame city elves for it

Why not? The humans won't like them settle and build something better. Just like the humans won't let the City Elves have better conditions

yes, that's my point.  The Dalish get a choice in the matter, for the most part as far as we've seen city elves don't

Pol left the city elves and joined the Sabrae clan. He had a choice.

The City Elf Warden was given the choice by Vaughn to leave Denerim during the Origin. My answer is a sword to his gut, and then choose to leave.

City elves have just as many choices as the Dalish. It's the racism of humans that cause problems for both groups.

Andrastianism is the belief in Andraste and the Maker.

Hawke, will in natural dialogue without any options, talk of the Maker. Like when Merrill comes to comfort him/her after Leandra's death.

its like saying culturally Christian

there's far too much variance in what makes up the Christian faith to call it a cultural unit

Yeah, I was surprised at how much vitriol Hawke being "Default" a Maker believer got.

I said for the most part, not exclusively

City elves are subject to the whims of their human lords, the Dalish are not, well assuming they can avoid getting caught.

Dalish remain on the move so they won't get caught. If they do, they are just at the whims as the City Elves are. Even more so as they are seen as heathen.

So it is a religion, not a culture.

I don't recall Hawke bringing up the Maker unless I was playing a Hawke who was. If you mean them saying things like "Maker be with you", that could be just a saying. Not everyone who says 'godspeed' believes in God.

and it is their choice to remain on the move

from what we see in lore, City Elves are serfs on a good day, there is little opportunity for them to leave their life or improve it.  Obviously there are exceptions

City Elves aren't prisoners. Conceivably they could leave anytime they want. But generally they don't because in practice it's the best place for them most of the time.

most people don't say godspeed these days anyways

perhaps "Oh my god" would be more relevant

A culture is a standard set of beliefs, ethics, and morals within a community. The White Chantry has spread so far across Thedas that they have turned their religion into a culture.

Theoretically they could, but realistically they are tied to the alieange for the most part, not only because its the best place for them, but because it is the only place for them.

They can't usually join the Dalish because of their Andrastian faith

Because of the racism of humans.

Just like Dalish can feel free to join human settlements, but often don't because of that same racism.

Also, didn't TME more or less made it clear Zathrian and Merrill's clan are LIBERAL Dalish clans regarding City Elves.

Most consider City Elves little more than EINO.

And each nation's beliefs, ethics, and morals are vastly different from the others. The only thing they share is a religion. Or are you saying that Ferelden and Orlais for example are culturally the same?

But there are still varied cultures in White Thedas

Orlesians are in the habit of wearing masks, Fereldens keep mabaris, the Navarrans have different funeral rites

there is no cultural homogeneity based on their faith.

Honestly I'd say the entire Chantry has done that, everywhere they believe in the Maker, Andraste was his prophet etc. and both Black and White Chantries teamed up to face the greatest 'heathen' threat, the Qun.
