Yes, those innocent people who were turned into monsters and couldn't return to their families and friends were 'still living their lives'.  <_<

I'm referring to the generations thereafter.

But you're right.

It's evil and they're horribly mistreated and living in pain.

Understanding Zathrian's actions aren't condoning them.

Except that war is the one for the fate of the world type in which if we fail the world will be fucked with a captial F.

So? That doesn't mean its OK to destroy them afterward for it. Tevinter did the same thing twice. Not every nation participates in every Blight.

They lived with thier family and friends, they were all other werewolves. They'd lived in that forest for thier entire lives, did you think they nipped out to the pub to meet some ladies every Saturday night?

That's more in regards to the chantry belief that spirits are fine and demons are bad. All creatures of the beyond can be corrupted, to say this is shiny it's nice, this is firey it's bad is absurd. We watch the corruption of Justice from a 'benevolent' spirit in Awakening to Vengeance who blows up a chantry killing countless innocents.

World of Thedas backs up her statements, saying that the Dalish as a whole shun spirit magic because they don't trust any spirit of the Fade, seeing them all as dangerous.

There are clearly and obvious exceptions, but WoT and Merrill both affirm the same thing, so we have two witnesses.

Yeah, still not getting the logic people want to protect themselves instead of someone else.

It's isolationism but as much as I hate the Asari for what they did, it seems odd to want to go after them for their cowardice in the Reaper Invasion.

Also, I find it hard to be especially angry with Zathrian.

Yes, he did something horrible under severe mitigating circumstances.

At the time that it happened, yes. I can understand it.

But he let it continue for a very long time, knowing that the people he had cursed to be werewolves weren't even related to the humans who raped his daughter.

No, Zatharian did something horrible under severe circumstances and then made people who had nothing to do with it suffer for years.

And of course this thread has turned into people arguing in circles. I would understand if the thread was called 'elven discussion thread' but this is the 'elven SUPPORT thread'. This is like barging into one of the romance threads only to argue about how much you dislike that romance option.

Anyway, I'm hoping we get a lot of unique dialogue options depending on our race. I always though DA:O was kind of weak in that regard.

I did say that Tevinter did deserve it, because I disagree with their entire culture of slavery and blood magic, just like I disagree with the qun, and they also deserve to have dissidents weakening them from within, at least to delay their inevitable invasion.

Nowhere in my statement did I think I ever even implied that Robin Hood and his Merry Men were what I wanted or expected.

I used Robin Hood as an example to make sure you weren't thinking the dalish in Tevinter were anything better than common criminals.  Clearly I didn't need to.

And that doesn't excuse allowing bandits to roam their territory killing whomever they wish

They didn't stop being people afterwards either. All of them also weren't descended from those werewolves.

Which is one of the reasons I avoid the "Atheist players discussing the Chantry" thread. I'm quite religious, so I know that thread isn't for me, so I don't go there.

Yep the first people he cursed were perfectly justified to me.

The letting it spiral out of hand and hurt those who had nothing to do with the crime is where he lost all sympathy.

they can say that as much as they want, but we see dalish mages dealing with demons regualrly

You're allowed to do that, and literally no one cares.

Just to be clear I wasn't trying to suggest that Zathrian was innocent of any wrongdoing. I just didn't feel that his wrongdoings were done for fundamentally racist anti-human reasons.

Popping in to say it? Sure. Derailing the entire thread until there's nothing but 10 pages of people arguing? Then we have a problem.

I think whatever place they were from got turned into werewolves.

So if they were brigands from Lothering, like the kind we meet, Zathrian turned all of Lothering into werewolves.

That's my theory, at least.

Is that why every Alienage has a giant tree growing out of it? To deny them their "elven-ness?"

I do wonder about that tree. One that size takes a long time to grow and is it a certain type of tree like Keeper staffs?

As the dalish are indifferent is the tree something the CE started when they were forced into alienages or is it a lower class Dales tradition so the dalish are ignorant because the clans are made up of the upper classes? (How did a class structure even come about in the Dales?)

No we really don't, because those threads are designed to discuss the character, not how much we like them.

tbh, I'm not sure where this thread is going now.   :?

Hmm... alright, who is your favorite elf in the DA universe (Wardens and Inquisitors excluded)?

Mine is... hmm... Lanaya, I think.  Maybe Marethari.  Hmm... might need to think on it more, tbh.

Of NPCs, Fiona.

Let me clarify. They don't see spirits as dangerous in the way that the Chantry does for demons, creatures who any exposure to is practically ground for executions. They're dangerous at best in more of the super-powered child way, they don't understand us or our frailty, dealing with them is making a deal with entites that can't understand us.

I'm referring to the people who were travelling and were attacked and cursed while passing through. Those people could never return to their families.

There's no mention of these travelers, and I doubt many people wander the Brecillian forest without reason when it's known Dalish and werewolves prowl it's dark shadows.

More like where the thread has gone.

Shianni probably, or Merrill.
