No, i meant why would they bring that up when Sten could have easily done that?
Sten willingly put himself there. He wanted to die.
why would he try and sustain himself?

now i feel in home
I was talking with a few of my friends in a chat and I came up with an idea to have elvish nicknames for all the companions and the advisers in DA:I and headcanon that my f!Dalish, Lin'Mi, refers to them by those names. I've just finished giving everyone an elvish nickname and I will post them later. I just want to know if you were/are going to do that, what elvish nicknames would you give everyone?

He jumps at even a half assed attempt to save himself.
And by his own admission lives are precious resources.
He didn't jump at a chance to save himself. He jumped at a chance to atone for killing the farmers who had saved his life. I also believe his response to the Warden's offer was, "The darkspawn are as sure to bring my end as waiting here." meaning he doubted he'd survive the Blight in the first place. He felt that he was going to die either way and he likely preferred to go out fighting rather than waiting. If survival was the main thing on his mind, he could have bitten through the bars on his cage and escaped.
No. If you just unlock his cage without getting the Revered Mothers permission, he doesn't leave. He just tells you you have unlocked a cage but he is not truly free.He jumps at even a half assed attempt to save himself.

I would love to see some other elves that were in the previous games like Merryl, Zevran, Vellana or even the master crafter of the dalish clan.

...we don't really know what ...elf/dwarf would make
Enchantment.
Enchantment.
Eeeh, those Carta guys said he could be half human or half elf, and we know half humans aren't supposed to look full dwarf. And I barely take the whispered rumors of the Carta seriously to begin with.
Elves till the end of time.. ![]()
Technically you can have Zevran if you make a male elf and give him Jon Curry's voice.
Maybe I should name him Faendal ![]()

I'm really looking forward to making and playing a full blown Dalish Elf.
I enjoyed playing the City Elf for Origins, but now this will be a great opportunity to branch out and try something different.

Kind of disappointed that no one responded to this, but meh. Well, here are the nicknames that Lin'Mi would give everyone. ![]()
Blackwall: Suledin = 'endure'
Cassandra: Durgen'Asha = 'stone woman'
Cole: Elgar'Vhenan = 'spirit heart'
Cullen: Durgen'Elgar = 'stone spirit'
Dorian: Sulevin'Vhenan = 'certain heart'
Iron Bull: Durgen'Fen = 'stone wolf'
Josephine: Vallas'Elgar = 'writing spirit'
Leliana: Harellan = 'trickster'
Sera: Revas'San = 'freedom arrow'
Solas: Era'Shiral = 'dream journey'
Varric: Era'Dirth = 'story teller' (literal translation is 'story tell' but I tweaked it a little bit)
Vivienne: Fen'Asha = 'wolf woman'
Let me know what you guys think and if you plan on giving nicknames to everyone too. ![]()
(damn, I'm really going all out with this Dalish themed playthrough, aren't I?

In most games, I will choose to play anything but human if given the option. That said, in the Dragon Age universe, I am more drawn to humans for some reason. What does that have to do with elves? I'm getting there...
While I do not identify as an elf in this setting, I do not like the way they are treated by many. I would say that I am pro-elf, with the caveat that I am not interested in judging anyone based on their race. While there are certainly traits that tend to define people from given cultures, I think it is more important to let individuals stand on their own merits. Additionally, I like to try and see things from as many angles as possible, and tend toward a diplomatic character that is able to obtain a large amount of information before making any decisions.
There are some comments (within the Dragon Age universe) that city elves have reasons to stick together. While there is nothing wrong with that, when certain groups segregate themselves from others, it tends to breed animosity -- fear of that which you do not understand. Humans repeatedly prove that the worst within them will ultimately turn on the elves, and I do not know of a good way for the two to coexist in a city with an alienage.
With all that in mind, I am motivated to help those that want to find a homeland do so, and also help those that wish to be an integral part of human society do so -- this might require new, racially integrated villages that can build from a foundation free of prejudice; people would have to inhabit the village by choice and learn to work side-by-side with others.
The best in me wants to believe that elves and humans can learn to coexist. Unfortunately, I think it will be a very tough road, the same way that having mages and templars will always be a difficult road. Both sides have elements that maintain and spread prejudice, and these prejudices often serve to flavor the interactions between the groups, and can lead to horrible consequences for both.
We may never see elves dig their way out of the current situation(s), but I would like to help them do so if I am able.
I'm disappointed I can't play a city elf but glad that I can finally play a Dalish mage. That was my only disappointment about playing an elf in Origins, if I wanted to be a mage I had to be from the Circle. I'm pleased that at least I can romance an elf with my female character, though somewhat disappointed that a male elf has no such option. I'm thrilled about Solas because he is intelligent and apparently points out any elven artifacts that are there for the taking, which means there will be more of these in the game. Also hoping for lots of elven lore owing to his history of lying around in elven ruins and the fact that we are going to be spending some of our time in the Dales.
I love elves. I always play elves if I can, preferably mages. The ideal combo in D&D was fighter/elf and my only regret in the Dragon Age is that we can't multi-class. For this reason, I loved arcane warrior as it meant I could use those lovely swords and armour on my mage. It was so annoying in DA2 that I couldn't use the blood dragon armour on mage Hawke and a great deal of other cool armour was wasted because it couldn't be used on the companions either.
I'm really hoping with such emphasis on the elves in Masked Empire that we will actually be allowed to do something about their conditions. It was always a bit disappointing that the Warden could win a boon for their people, whether Dalish or City, but then in either the epilogue or DA2 you are told it didn't work out, so apparently the status quo was restored.
Love the fact there is a elven support thread. Hope there will be even more to discuss after the game comes out: 9 weeks tomorrow in Europe. It's like counting down to Christmas, only better since Santa keeps giving little hints about what we'll be getting!
By pressing do mean casual mention of being a warden?
I left behind twice, on my first and second playthrough. He never expressed any disappointment in that decision to my human or elf. He even asked me to leave him alone and thanked me for doing it.
Unless you think he's specifically trying to use reverse psychology on you, he doesn't demonstrate a desire to have the Warden get him out until they ask him to come along. He even says that "Death will be my atonement."
Only seems fitting...
Halla halla halla, heh heh Play on Words.
I wanted to also include Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl, but, I'd prefer that be done with a Gif saying Hallaback Girl... but im to lazy to do that. lol ![]()

Uh..the humans turn on them as soon as they try and not segregate themselves as well. They aren't segregating themselves from others by choice.
From the Codex on alienages: "We don't have to live here, you know. Sometimes a family gets a good break, and they buy a house in the docks, or the outskirts of town. If they're lucky, they come back to the alienage after the looters have burned their house down. The unlucky ones just go to the paupers' field."
When they try and de-segregate humans burn their houses down and kill them.
