Briala is a city elf fighting for city elves, she is willing to work with the dalish, but she is not dalish

And? Not all Dalish consider City Elves to be some different race entirely. You could play one like that in DA:O, and I suspect the option will be perfectly valid in DA:I. Role playing game.

@Willowhugger:  To me, Hawke is a coward BECAUSE he can kill an ogre and a million darkspawn... and still runs.

It's just an opinion... please don't demand I see things in your world view as I would never ask you to do so.

Why is it that people have to ruin things for others?  Do they enjoy being a-holes?  Do they feel like they are entitled to be douches to others?  Or do they just have no life and feel like making everyone else feel as miserable as they do?

Simple solution: you don't like a thread?  Ignore it and move on.  Let people talk about what they want to talk about.  By purposefully clicking on a thread you don't like and complaining about how much you don't like it, you make yourself look like an idiot that has to have something to complain about.

P.S.: Just to be clear, this is not- I repeat: not- directed at anyone specifically.  I get that you're voicing your opinion, but that doesn't give you the right to bash others for their opinions.  If you are that person, get out now and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves.

I think you lose the coward definition when you kill an Ogre.

True, this where you gain the idiot definition where you watch an ogre kill your sibling and then run away from Ferelden, never thinking of ever returning outside of a few dialogue branches.

I wonder why we're playing Dalish.

I would have played an Elf if I was a City Elf.

Couple thoughts:

-If elves are given a homeland, it'll dissolve into infighting and incompetence from its government, unless it is a strictly Dalish nation, in which case it would just wither in isolation or start another war. If they are given a nation that is a vassal state, then they have a chance to at least start the groundwork for a stable nation.

-If city elves want to have rights, they need to stop encouraging their children to live isolated in the ghettos and discouraging them from trying to break out. In Origins, all we saw was elves mocking the elves who tried to live outside the alienage, who tried to live with humans... how can they expect to be on the same footing as humans when they put up their own obstacles on top of humans placing obstacles on them?

I would like to support Briala and Gaspard in order for Gaspard to honor the help of the elves by either improving the alienages or, as farfetched as it is, setting up a vassal elf state.

I wasn't planning on playing an elf, but the elf pictures that have been posted look pretty neat... maybe I'll try out a Dalish elf with xenophobic issues that he/she will grow out of.

Still elves.

but do you know that you will be able to voice solidarity with them?

Seems to me that it could possibly be the reason we can't be a City Elf

We weren't forced to take a 'Dalish master race' view point in Origins. I see no reason to think we will in Inquisition.

I never said master race option, it could just be as simple as not having an option to voice solidarity with city elves

that level of railroading is hardly unknown in BioWare games

It would rather require one of the writers to be rather solidly anti-elf that not only would every Inquisitor be against Briala's rebellion from the human, Qunari, and Dwarven races but the Dalish too.

Briala's rebellion, I point out, happening IN THE FORMER DALES.

Do you think it's at all likely that is going to happen?

I would totally support an entire game made for the elves of DA.

But only if I got a game made solely for the dwarves of Orzamaar.

You guys can even get your game first... not sure if I'd play it, but that's hardly the point (and I probably would end up playing it since it's a Bioware game).

It fits with the Inquisition's stated goal of restoring order  Aiding a rebel who is attempting to carve out a chunk of Orlais is not going to be promoting stability.

So yes, I'd say I do think it is fairly likely that we will be railroaded into siding against Briala

*sighs in disappointment* why are you people bringing in the politics? it's about elves, support and love for them.

I'm starting to regret making this thread.I just started it for innocent discussions about the Elves -_-

People liked my Dwarf support thread,so I thought this would be good too.

If you're going to be this pessimistic about DA:I, don't buy it.  DA:I is going to be bigger than any BW game that I've played and it's going to have 40 endings, so I'm assuming that we're going to get a lot more choices than in previous DA games.  But then, we'll know for sure when it launches.

I think there's a valid rebuttal to this in Leliana talks all about how elves who live as servants to humans are so lucky....and it comes off as one of the most unintentionally racist things I've ever heard.

How they were lucky to be pretty dolls.

I liked that. It was a good bit of storytelling on Bioware's part.

In short, the elves are aware that humans want to destroy the elven race by disintegrating them as a culture.

Because on BSN people reallllly hate or reallly love elves. Also trolls. It can't go well.

And Dwarves aren't mainstream enough to get much a negative reaction.

who said anything about pessimism?

also LOL @40 endings

BioWare has some nerve talking about multiple endings

@Ladylionhart:  I know I'm not one of the people bringing the love to your thread.

But threads are like mages... and forumites are like demons - and your topic draws a particular crowd of demon.

I will only say - the dwarves only have your support thread... the elves invade every thread about the Chantry, Orlais, Gaspard, Celene, etc. etc. there is.

This may come as a surprise to you, but forums are for sharing your opinions. If you want to hear your opinion and yours alone, make a group. So while this thread may be named, "Elven Support Thread," it does not mean that you have to support elves to post in it, regardless of what the OP thinks. Otherwise, Id' make a thread called, "Your Origin Account's Wallet," and say only come in this thread if you want to post your credit card and social security numbers.

We also know we can side with the Mages.

So I'm guessing that there's multiple ways to "restore order."

Mine is going to be weakening the major powers whenever I get the chance, particularly the Orlesians.

BTW - one of our Companions is a City Elf.

So, I don't think "Destroying Briala's Rebellion" is going to go over well with Sera.

Because she's one with the Common Folk.

Or did you not think we could side with them too over the nobility?
