More so, the City Elves.  The Dalish mostly just talk about getting screwed over by humans.  The City Elves live it.

True, but the Dalish are forced to being constantly on the move.  Whether because of Templars, bandits, aggressive human settlements, or because of a lack of food.

City Elves, absolutely.

Dalish Elves, debatable. There have been enough instances with them where human animosity is justified, just like Dalish animosity towards humans is.

Again, true.  The Dalish being stubborn about their beliefs is a double-edged sword.  On one hand, it's good that they are unwilling to let go of their beliefs, but on the other hand, it restricts their ability to see and understand differing views on the Creators.

Really, what's the difference between a city elf and a poor human other than slender bodies and pointy ears?

Genetics for one.

Culture for another.

Those tarots aren't going to represent the PC right? Or we can pick one that's actually a symbol?

Because nothing jars me more than a avatar that looks nothing like my actual PC.

As for Hawke, the Dalish were hostile in even the most minor interactions... there's really nothing positive that I can say about any member of the clan featured in DA2.  Based on how the Dalish were handled in DA:O, there is also an encounter with a group of on the Wounded Coast that is overwhelmingly negative and is usually the first experience with the Dalish in the game unless you decide to go to Sundermount early...  The Dalish in this group will immediately attack if they are interrupted in their attempt to kill a former werewolf (surprise, the Dalish hold grudges).  They will not listen to reason and are not open to discussion, they just want Hawke, his/her companions, and the former werewolf dead.

Um... no. With high diplomacy I talked them out of it, saying "Is this what your mother would want?" The leader's mother was Danyla.

But I think that the persuade options kind of sucked in DA 2. You only had certain options based on what personality tone you favored, instead of being an all-around silver tongued devil as in DA:O.

Poor humans tend to be treated a bit better than city elves.

Um... no. With high diplomacy I talked them out of it, saying "Is this what your mother would want?" kind of thing.

To be fair that requires you play a diplomacy Hawke. (Kind of like how siding with Peatrice requires an aggressive Hawke).

So it's easy to see why someone who didn't play diplo Hawke wouldn't know the option is there (as it never even comes up).

Hell the only way to get her to see reason is by playing  a professional peacekeeper Hawke says a lot really.

You know what... I'm sorry, I remember somebody telling me that.  I always use "Aggressive," so I don't get that option at all... there's no way to save the human and prevent a fight unless you have the "Diplomatic" personality.  Anyway, the Warden killed Danyla, so those elves were working on bad intel... :P

So I'll mark you down as a follower of Koslun.

You'd be inaccurate then.

I think the persuade style in DA2 was far inferior to the persuade skill in DA:O which wasn't dependent on your PC's personality.

That too but there are times you're allowed to use diplo conversation options without needing to be diplomatic. That elf wasn't trying to hear it though (which really was quite annoying and why I just kill her and move on with my day. That and threatening the heavily armed group was a darwin award move on her end).

Hell I don't even think you can get a companion to talk her down either. You have to be a diplo Hawke.

I like playing as a dalish, happy I'm getting to play as a dalish mage since I couldn't do it in DAO.

Anyways, I hope there will be some cameos from past elves in DAI, like Merrill.

I usually play elves as rogues, but I think I'll probably do Dalish Mage when I get around to it simply because that sounds the most interesting. Already played a hunter.

Personally, I'd prefer a Fenris cameo, although it might not make a whole lot of sense because he's basically an adventurer and has no bearing on the world... also I have no idea why he'd be in Ferelden or Orlais in the first place, but who knows...

Or he'd be back in Tevinter with his rightful master.

Seems more likely than Merril what with her being dead.

She's not dead in my game so what does that matter?

Don't want to derail the thread but you do realise you just described pretty much every religion, ever! I don't think you can single out the Dalish for this alone.

Still alive in my game.  Would be nice to see if my Hawke's rivalmance got her to kick her Blood Magic habit for good.

Well hopefully if my Hawke shows up Fenris will be with him. That is what Varric claimed. So *shrug*
