We also know we can side with the Mages.

So I'm guessing that there's multiple ways to "restore order."

Mine is going to be weakening the major powers whenever I get the chance, particularly the Orlesians.

BTW - one of our Companions is a City Elf.

So, I don't think "Destroying Briala's Rebellion" is going to go over well with Sera.

Because she's one with the Common Folk.

Or did you not think we could side with them too over the nobility?

So your goal is to restore order, by undermining the ones most capable of enforcing it?

This is why I hope that this game has definite wrong options that will result in a failed world state.

It wouldn't be the first time companions are railroaded into taking issues with what the protagonist does

@Willowhugger:  The question is... "why" would we side with the City elves over Orlais.

Some mirrors that allow us to move.... vs.  thousands of Chevaliers, tens of thousands of soldiers, food and supplies.

Good feelings and civil rights aren't going to put the demons back in their cages.

The elves will have three options (the SAME three I'm giving everyone in my gameplay):  Assist the Inqusition, Get out of the Inquisitions way, Die if you impede the Inquisition in ANY way.

Oh well, we'll find out when the game comes out.

But yeah, I'm fairly radically to the left in my politics.

So naturally I side with the Underdog.

About the only thing to the Thedan Right is my Pro-Chantry, Pro-Andraste views.

So we'll see how that goes.

who said anything about pessimism?

also LOL @40 endings

BioWare has some nerve talking about multiple endings

Like I said: We'll see when DA:I launches.

This may come as a surprise to you, but forums are for sharing your opinions. If you want to hear your opinion and yours alone, make a group. So while this thread may be named, "Elven Support Thread," it does not mean that you have to support elves to post in it, regardless of what the OP thinks. Otherwise, Id' make a thread called, "Your Origin Account's Wallet," and say only come in this thread if you want to post your credit card and social security numbers.

I know, but people jumping onto threads just to bash other people for their opinions is not what forums are about.  Maybe the whole concept of forums should be forgotten if there are going to be so many people determined to ruin things for others.   -_-

*sighs in disappointment* why are you people bringing in the politics? it's about elves, support and love for them.

I'm starting to regret making this thread.I just started it for innocent discussions about the Elves -_-

People liked my Dwarf support thread,so I thought this would be good too.

*All*  elven threads end up like this.

For future reference.

@Gamer072196:  Why does a dissenting viewpoint "ruin" things for you?

I am comfortable in my thoughts - people disagreeing with me, especially people using names like Medhia Nox or Gamer072196, can't possibly ruin anything for me.

There are a lot of elf haters in the forums, and in the past two months, they swarmed to the elf threads to troll it, derail it, and do whatever they can to express their hate of the elves. Especially the Dalish.

These haters blame the Dalish for all the problems (or at least some of the haters do) with the bigotry between elves and humans, and have often expressed a desire to wipe out all Dalish if possible, and anything that even remotely looks like supporting elves, even for roleplay reasons, they oppose strongly.

hey, some of us like the City elves and want to be able to give them a better lot in life

I just don't think we will be able to support Briala

@dragonflight288:  What can I say... I'm a Felassan supporter.  He blames the Dalish too.

If Briala helps the Inquisition.. or at LEAST gets out of my way and doesn't raid my caravans in her efforts to destroy Orlais or something - she has my blessing.

After I closed the Breaches - I'd even genuinely help her (and not screw her over like every other human on Thedas).

why?

Use this opportunity to learn more, see what people think and why, then examine based on your own opinions and experiences

I have no problems with people expressing their opinion in a calm and relatively polite manner, but when people jump onto threads for the explicit reason to try to force their opinion on others or to bash others for their opinions, it causes my faith in humanity to go even further into the abyss.

Couple thoughts:

-If city elves want to have rights, they need to stop encouraging their children to live isolated in the ghettos and discouraging them from trying to break out. In Origins, all we saw was elves mocking the elves who tried to live outside the alienage, who tried to live with humans... how can they expect to be on the same footing as humans when they put up their own obstacles on top of humans placing obstacles on them?

If... if Elven-Human relations improved to the point where they were no longer considered second class citizens this would inevitably lead to an increase of interracial relationships. In any other situation I'd consider this a good thing, more or less. The problem with this example is that elves would cease to exist if they began interbreeding excessively with humans. I'm pretty sure alienages are as much an Elven construct as it is Human for this reason.

If Elves want to fix their problems they need to begin with learning how this genetic 'quickening' came about (implied to be magical) and combat it. Not cry about their lot in life and certainly not misegenate with Humans, Dwarves, or Qunari.

I agree with Steelcan.. forums are a place where you're not in your private little world where everyone agrees with you and all your friends are of a like mind.

That's gold - not something to be shied away from.

Though - of course - whatever you feel is necessary for you, I'm all for.

Well, if the Orelsians win then the world after the Demons will be filled with Orlesians.

My Inquisitor is quite comfortable with wrecking them if it means better conditions for the elves, mages, and Casteless.

He's not a big fan of the current state of the world.

And sometimes you have to break a few eggs....and eggs, I mean countries.

So Speaks Mageneto.

Anyway, I'm dropping the subject of siding with the elves or not.

I'll just talk about how much I love the City Elves and what I like about the Dalish elves.

And Elf Mages.

And? Not all Dalish consider City Elves to be some different race entirely. You could play one like that in DA:O, and I suspect the option will be perfectly valid in DA:I. Role playing game.

The Dalish aren't as one-note as some people seem to believe. One of the clans adopted a human child who became Aveline the Knight, and changed things for women forever in Thedas. Zathrian's clan saved the life of Aneirin, when the young boy found him near death. Ilen talks about how the Dalish and the city elves can learn from one another. Velanna's clan will remark positively upon seeing her in the company of humans, and they will accept the word of a human that Velanna has changed for the better. Merrill was Dalish, and she saw the Kirkwall elves as elves, and thought her plight mattered. There's no reason a Dalish protagonist would necessarily have a negative view of the city elves simply because some do.

We weren't forced to take a 'Dalish master race' view point in Origins. I see no reason to think we will in Inquisition.

Not anymore than we have ever been forced to take a 'human master race' point of view as a human protagonist.

@Willowhugger:  What are the Orlesians winning... this is Dragon Age: Inquisition... we're closing Breaches not fighting the civil war in Orlais.

IF Briala even shows up in Inquisition - I can almost guarantee it isn't going to involve derailing the storyline into a war with Orlais (which would last years).

You see - this story isn't about elves to me, so making it so would be totally derailing it.  It's about stopping the demons.

As I said - I think there should be an entire game about elven liberation - I totally support it, but only if I get a game about the dwarves of Orzamaar (cause the elven one holds precious little interest to me).
