I like how despite the negativity and arguments, this thread has managed to endure. Much like the elves have endured for centuries. ![]()
As for my f!Dalish's personality, I'm thinking either Chaotic Good or Chaotic Neutral. Definitely going to try for being humorous. Chaotic alignments, FTW! ![]()

Your rebuttal is 'I have decided that reality is no longer applicable, please ignore and use this new one in which we are awesome.'
Humans also did nothing until Andraste had her 'Divine Inspiration' Neither group along could have overthrown Magister rule, you knew it we knew it. Both sides needed to work together, for you it was your god, for us it was the potential reclaim our lost culture. It was Shorten who was among the first to come to your ladies' aid, a fact you erased when it was no longer convenient. I understand that you don't want to let yourself feel responsible for the atrocities your ancestors and revered heroes committed. But you cannot honestly expect us to submit, like lambs to the slaughter, so you might sleep more peacefully at night.
A. You aren't an elf, you can drop the I and we and us
B. The Dalish don't need to submit, at their current rate they'll be extinct inside an Age

love his character development over the years. With young justice i saw lot of myself in my teens in him. Lost but with friends that looked put for me.... plus his temper was a nice change from the mainstream universeYou get a like for mentioning Superboy, one of my favorite superheroes.

Aren't they producing less and less mages?
Wonder what would happen to them if there weren't enough Keepers to go around...

My main ones usually end up bouncing between that and Neutral Good. Or, close to that. DnD alignments aren't always accurate. :S

No clue on that, though mages as a whole seem to be increasing
They'd either start combining the clans, or just do without

Hm could've sworn Merrill said something about dalish elves with magic become less common.
Most likely.

True.
All my jerkwad characters end up chaotic evil. ![]()

I thought it was only Merill's clan that had a shortage of mages. Lanaya had to compete for her position as First indicating her clan likely had more than a few with magical talent. Actually that's another question, what do they do with the other elves who have magic but can't be First? [Are Keepers just too lazy to take on more than one apprentice?]

IKR? Superboy used to be a breath of fresh air back when I read comics... always good for a laugh, although he did become much more mature over the years (but still fun). Back when he was starting out, he spent most of his time using his X-ray goggles watching womens' volleyball games! ![]()
Any character based on him has a lot of potential... here's to hoping the humorous dialogue options fit with the character you have in mind. A less serious Dalish elf sounds like it could be fun... maybe I'll try that myself some day.

Hm...that also would work.
You'd think they'd give them to the clans that probably don't have mages capable of being first if anything.

If people can identify as Andrastian human I can dam well identify as a Dalish Elf.A. You aren't an elf, you can drop the I and we and us
B. The Dalish don't need to submit, at their current rate they'll be extinct inside an Age
Because interactions with humans ruins the maintained equilibrium.
Origins Dalish would survive, though at reduced numbers if the Warden doesn't convince the resolves to attack
Merrill wouldn't have been able to keep working if Hawke hadn't come along
THE had a human free a demon that was kept imprisoned
And Awakening saw the loss of a part of a clan due to humans and elves being set at eachother.

I'd call them out on it as well, but I'm not going to go digging for examples. Alternatively they could have been using we as a pronoun for humanity in general, or the Inquisition, or PCs, in which case it would be justified.
Maintained Equilibrium? Don't give me that nonsense. Cultures grow and evolve from contact with others, this evolution can be violent, peaceful, etc.. trying to stop it is a fool's errand.
Merrill should have stopped working on the Eluvian long before she met Hawke.
A Demon the Dalish summoned, so much for "lets not deal with demons", but Zathrian and Merrill also deal with demons, so I suppose that brand of stupidity isn't unheard of.

Including oneself inn a humanity they are not part of gives me, I feel, just as much right to include myself in a group I feel more attatched to. They see themselves and argue from the point of an Andrastian, I see myself and argue from the view of a Dalish elf.
All I meant by equilibrium was that they aren't dying out, despite what it may seem. Yes they ar evolving, but there is no reason to suspect the next age will be free of Dalish.
And if they had captured a bear and captured it, imprisoned it securely, and then someone else had released it, that wouldn't be the Dalish's fault. I don't think it was a good idea, but it was due to other people's interference that they died, not thier own negligence.

They are still humans, as are you. You are not an elf, but they are humans.
I'd argue that they are indeed responsible in part because they summoned the damn thing

I have more in common with Dalish elves than I do Thedasan humans. To expect me to consider mysef one of their kind merely on account of a visual similarity is absurd.
I'm not claiming they're innocent victims. But they had the demon held. there are volatile chemicals in my house. If someone comes in and mixes them, yes I should have kept them more secured, but they shouldn't have gone around mucking with things that weren't theirs.

This is great. You're a human with Dalish ideals. You can refer to humans as "we" without agreeing with everything they do, and you can refer to elves as "they" while agreeing with most of the things they do. Referring to yourself as an elf makes you look like a basket case.
I'm also not sure if you can compare a bottle of bleach to a demon.

You live a nomadic lifestyle, while worshiping a polytheistic religion, no access to any form of urban amenities in any way, in addition to belonging to a different species than the rest of us, while being hounded by religious and secular authorities? lol
Chemicals don't have free will and the ability to trick, beguile, etc.. it was a stupid idea from the start and I'm tempted to dismiss it as natural selection in Thedas
