Dalish = Stupid morons who summon demons and then whine when it frees itself.
You mean when Michel frees it? Because that's what happened.

Given it was the Demon that allowed Ser Michel to reach it in the first place, I'd say the it freed itself.
But it was still Michel's idea to mess to crap which he knew he has no idea about. Imshael was trapped until Michel smashed the spirit trap. Of course Felessan was right there and did know better. And summoning him in the first place was a stupid idea too. There's plenty of blame to go around but I'd say it's the fault of mostly Felessan, Michel and Thelhen, in that order.
When it comes to magical incidents humanity needs to shut up really.
I'm not willing to condemn a group of people who were under the influence of Maker knows what kind of magic the Old Gods can conjure up

I'm not really sure there's much point to assigning blame. Imshael was playing the Dalish as much as he played Ser Michel. And Felassan's...uncertain loyalties make thing even muddier.
I was not talking about Tevinter in general. Imperial chantry seems more legit on the matter when it specifically mentions the old gods and their puppets went to the golden city not all mages therefore mages are not responsible. There have been many other incidents, by human mages. So blaming the dalish for such incidents while talking human's side is a joke and fallacy.I'm not willing to condemn a group of people who were under the influence of Maker knows what kind of magic the Old Gods can conjure up

yeah, and the Dalish have their fair share of stupid moves, at least they usually end up killing themselves and not everyone else around them
sounds like cultrual suicideyeah, and the Dalish have their fair share of stupid moves, at least they usually end up killing themselves and not everyone else around them

Stupid moves as in none-magical. In general Dalish are quite careful with their magic as stated by codex and WOT. They have been doing perfectly fine without Templars.
XD
oh that was a good one
The Dalish are as careful as toddlers with scissors wrapped around a loaded gun when it comes to magic.

You know, maybe it seems that way because Bioware is feeding us all the stupid clans [kind of like how Hawke got fed every blood mage in Kirkwall] as opposed to the boring old clans that are succeeding at doing exactly what they want; leaving humans alone and being left alone in turn.
I mean there must be some of them that are actual loners and good at it right? I mean it is supposed to be their thing.
Based on what? We cannot deny what the lore says and there is no evidence of Dalish abomination rampaging around since their existence. You do realize Marethari weakened the demon by sacrificing herself right? Just because a few, who are usually kicked out of the clan, screw up it doesn't mean the Dalish are not careful.
>Dalish don't screw up
>ignore those Dalish they don't count
Zathrian, Merrill, Marethari, Thelhen, Velanna, clearly are trustworthy and able to use magic responsibly and/-
oh I can't keep a straight face with this

That's a good point. We've also been to two Circles in the games so far and both of them burned down to the point where the were or were about to be annulled. Does this mean that with a 100% negative record of our gaming experience, the entire Circle system has done nothing but constantly melt down these last 700 years or is it just more interesting visiting a Circle or a Dalish camp where something bad is going on rather than one where everybody does as they are expected and no problems are created?

To be fair to Marethari, she was usually pretty careful with magic. She only allowed herself to be possessed because she was trying to protect Merrill.

Well, after the last two games, that might make for a refreshing change of pace. Maybe Bioware will decide to let us burn down new and exciting places in DAI ![]()

I don't consider allowing Merrill to continue on her fool's errand responsible, i don't consider willingly letting yourself be possessed by a demon responsible

True, but kind of like Anders, Petrice or those idiot blood mages from act 3 that hate you no matter what, it's not like you could be allowed to nip it in the bud... after all then some actual work would have had to go into DA2 for that to happen.

I not saying it was responsible, but understandable. Marithari was trying to protect someone she loved from endangering herself. And in a way, she succeeded, because it took Marithari's death to finally convince Merrill she was wrong. (For those of us who pursued the rival path with her).

actual work into the storyline, perish the thought

it might very well be understandable, but my origianl point was that it wasn't responsible

Of course not. I'm more than happy to watch Dalish meltdown one clan at a time, and cleanse each Circle in kind.
it might very well be understandable, but my origianl point was that it wasn't responsible
I understood your point to be that that Dalish aren't responsible with magic, which is true in a number of cases. I just disagree with you citing Marithari as an example. She wasn't irresponsible, she was driven to a desperate action because Merrill was.
Yeah, parents don't start hanging out with drug addicts because their kids do. Marithari's an idiot; Merrill being one doesn't change that.
