Qunari are as much a "people" as a horde locusts or darkspawn would be.

Dwarves aren't people obviously but they are a sapient cognitive race with a much better grasp of the situation then the elves.

The Tal-Vashoth prove that qunari do not share a hive mind.  As for the rest... like I said, winning a few wars doesn't mean that humans are the only race worth consideration.  I consider everyone on Thedas a "person," regardless of their race or philosophy.  I guess I could just use the term "sentient," but IMO there is no need for humans to have multiple descriptors, but every other race has to be called by the race's name...

The solution is just ignore bating by the trolls. Next time the thread gets overrun with pages talking about nothing by how great it is to murder dalish or something just pretend it's all:

winning a few wars

A few?

Don't you mean every war ever that was to decide the dominant race of Thedas?

._.

Humans rule because they won those wars.

That doesn't mean the losers aren't people.

After finally playing through as a City Elf, I'm far more sympathetic to them. They are no different than human or dwarf subjects of the ruling authorities and should be treated as such. It's time for reconciliation but not through revolution because that will bring the hammer down.

But the useless Dalish can get eaten by Harvesters as far as I'm concerned.

I completely agree with this statement.

a revolution or mass exodus would probably just cause more anger and hatred and would probably destroy the economy of every nation that uses Elven workers.

So, with luck, the Dalish should be getting a more interesting treatment in this game than in the previous, especially if the devs deliberately chose to have a Dalish Inquisitor background over a city elf one, despite the possible hook that could have arisen from the Orlesian conflict.

It appears that Solas enjoys burning things.  Sounds good... I was already planning to spec him as a pyromancer with Spirit as a secondary focus.

That doesn't mean the losers aren't people.

Why?

They aren't contributing to the advancement of humanity, elves have actually tried to hinder human progress, qunari have tried to hinder human progress, Dwarves are about the only race wise enough not to **** with Humanity and that has more to do with greed then sense.

So what should they be to Humanity if not a enemy?

Tbh, I don't think we are going by the same definition of "person."  I see the word as synonymous with "sentient," not as having any specific relevance to the human race.  When looking at a fictional world, I tend to view all thinking creatrues in the same general terms unless they are intrinsically different, like the Geth for example.  Continuing the ME comparison, I'd consider Mordin and Wrex "people" as well as Kelly or Joker.  I suppose I could just as easily call them "organics," but I see no reason why "person" should be limited to humans.  We aren't even talking about something strange like the Elcor... these are all humanoids we're talking about.

To support this point, elves have been called people in the game - "the People," specifically, by Flemeth.  I also feel obligated to mention "people" is a general way to refer to a group and does not necessarily speak to the human species as a whole.  Were that the case I believe we would be called people and not humans.  It's not exclusive to humanity in fantasy settings because we typically aren't the only sapient beings.

Agreed!  Solas lobbing fireballs at demons is something I really need in my life.

This is my last ME related post since I hate being off topic, but from what I've heard, ME4 is supposed to take place during the original trilogy... in that case it'll just be the original "Cerberus," since they won't have been ruined by that point.  If not, there's always Miranda and Jacob in ME2.

Ahem... if ME4 takes place during the same time frame as ME1-3, we could even have Blasto as a party member...

But yeah... how about those elves?  They're a lot of fun, right?  I expect good things from both Sera and Solas.

More interesting in what way?

Instead of being cardboard semi-antagonists who never do anything of note, as in DA2.

But they are cardboard cutout semi antagonists... as President Johnson said: "That's their role!"
