If this were a thread about Dalish specifically, you'd still all be here doing this wouldn't you?

I know. I still can't tell if it's trolling at this point or some of the posters are some sort of sociopath.
But I think it's partly my on me because I can't help but equate 'elves and humans' with 'black people and white people'

one superboy young justice male and a miss martian young justice type. (Should got a 3rd season)Ah, yes... so you'll be playing the female elf romance master race? Or will you have two highly different Inquisitors?

The elves are more, I feel, spiritually akin to the Jews.

Whom would the former romance?

Gaider actually covered this once in a blog...don't recall which groups he drew inspiration from however.

The initial inspiration for the elves actually came from Jewish people—consider the lost homeland, the existence of Jewish ghettos in many medieval cities, etc. After years of development, however, the connections to those initial inspirations are tenuous at best, and I can definitely see comparisons to Native Americans as well as a number of other peoples who have experienced oppression in our history. These cultural elements evidently have many real-world analogues, which is interesting but also a bit sad.

The Inquisition, I take it?
No, my interests lie primarily in the Inquisition's transition post-breach. Existing as an arm of the Chantry will grant it enduring legitimacy, and the chaos with the Fade tears provides immense opportunity.
I'm talking claiming all the major points from western Orlais to eastern Fereldan where the flow of Lyrium reaches the surface, coastal trade, banking, lending services for the monarchs and nobles in need of coin during reconstruction... I'll need laborers, runners, and muscle to make it work.

Why not try to have it stand beside the Chantry as an equal, and not merely an arm?
And the Dalish would likely not value coin that much; you might need to pay them with something of more significance.

I'm interested in a lot of peoples and places in Thedas because I feels they have similarities with either my background or places that I'm interested in, but that doesn't mean I think they are supposed to be direct analogue for anyone or even intentionally based off them at all. Rivain kinda reminds me of Lebanon, but I doubt they specifically took any inspiration from there.
Yip, now if it was about city eves I would support all my might, because they deserve it.
My point is that trolls would always show up with the intent of bothering Dalish fans and ensuring that they can't have a normal discussion no matter what the circumstances.

I intend to stand head-and-shoulders above it. It's status as "an arm" is merely a title, meant to make comfortable anyone currently powerful enough to inhibit our progress. Of course, by the time they learn what this is all really about it will be too late.
And the Dalish would likely not value coin that much; you might need to pay them with something of more significance.
Soon, coin will matter more than one's blood. When it reaches this point, it helps to be part of the conglomerate that many human nobles just happen to be indebted to.

But the Dalish don't even operate on the same economy as the humans. I'm not completely sure how this'll help.

Don't go there broseph.
Rome didn't spit on new tech that was proven to be effective. One of their great strengths was taking what their enemies prized and not only using it against them but IMPROVING it!
It also never let technology impose weakness upon its society, it allowed technology to function at the behest of the society.
The Legion uses guns, electricity and even prewar tech, they merely do not let it weaken their society, they do not let it poison them with the pre war greed that doomed the world.
Sure you likely won't see a return of the status quo of the old world under Caesar but you also won't see it doom humanity again.
Its about i suppose what you consider predominate for the survival of the human race, overall on earth.

We can pay the Dalish in halla pelts. Luxurious!
Anyways, nuts to the Dalish. The city elves are really the ones to be more concerned about, since they are the ones that really have to deal with human oppressors and Nathaniel Howe's sarcasm.
