This is the first time I am actually happy with the Dragon Age elves. I absolutely hated their look in DA2. The eyes and the nose were the worst, imo.

I am just going to say it: I loved the elves in TW2 and would love to see that be a standard. I know a lot of people disagree with me, but meh. I think looking "different and alien" is overrated.

I agree about the plot related elves-- they did look better, but only slightly.

I totally agree. I think if they want to make weird completely alien races, they should! But make them new, original races. Don't suddenly make hairless blue elephants with Michael Jackson noses and call them dwarves. Don't make Na'avi ripoff starved children with lightbulb heads and call them elves.

I lol'd.

That's such a hilarious description XD

The sad thing is it might not have been so bad if they had put into the rest of the elves the amount of effort they did with Merrill and Fenris. But for the most part...they didn't.

Oh god that makeup and those cheeks.

What were they thinking.

I had to get a mod to fix that. It's creepy clown levels :o

I force myself to believe that was on purpose. Hadriana must've did it to troll.

Oh god the ME1 Shep cheeks :o

ME2 was worse though. Only because you had to go through that damn unskippable cutscene everytime you wanted to make an adjustment and you couldn't even see Shep's face til the damn thing was nearly over -_-

I've always assumed that Orana looked like that to highlight the decadence of Tevinter. "LOOK WHAT THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE DO TO THEIR ELVES!!!"

Problem is, it becomes ridicolous after I take her to work in my House, and after years of not being a slave she's still the same.

It looks like they still have the child's bodies they did in DA2 with the strangely narrow shoulders so...yay? People that like the alien look can still have that aspect and people like me can hide it under piles of clothing and armor.

Oh man, giving small, slender elves heavy armor is a lot of fun! I'm replaying DA:O with a Dalish Warden right now, and I just got him the full Juggernaut set. It's not 'this will strike fear into the hearts of his enemies' as much as 'this is downright adorable.'

Once, the game froze during the loading after the whole cutsecne.

I am glad of it. Especially the eyes. In DAO, they were small and sunken. In DA2, they looked as though they should be nocturnal and hiding in trees.

It's all to personal taste, of course. I would just rather have something "neutral" than alien. Save that for sci-fi or TES.

All bolded bits are mine.

This is funny because....

The Stolen Throne p. 70
After a time of having the strange sensation of being watched, he heard something out in the bushes. Whoever was out there--and he did think it was a who, since he doubted a predator would have spent so long stalking them--was skilled. Try as Loghain might, he could not spot anyone in the shadows.
He held up a hand, quieting Maric. "Don't look now," he muttered, "but I don't think we're alone any longer."
To Maric's credit, he didn't look. "Are you sure?"
"Well, it's difficult to hear much with you blathering on like you do."
"I'm not blathering!"
"Really? It's no wonder you nearly froze to death the way you spend all your energy moving your mouth." Their eyes glanced around nervously, without making it obvious of what they were doing.
Maric made a subtle motion to his left. Loghain followed it, not quite believing that Maric could be capable of spotting something first. Then, he saw it. Just ahead, in the deep shadows between two of the taller trees, two points of light glinted at them, like a cat's eyes as it watched you in the dark.

Like elf eyes.

:P Sorry if the format is wonky, had to write that using my phone! Whew~ Anyway, in context, those were Dalish. "Night Elves" stalking Maric and Loghain because they were too close to their camp. I felt that blurb fit waayyy too well not to be mentioned here. xD

@PlasmaCheese

Thanx for bringing in the quote, I was going to find some myself. It's 100% true that most DA novels describe elven eyes as something special and 'non-human' (so to speak).

There was also a snipped in The Calling that implied they often have eye colours that seem completely impossible from a human's point of view, if I recall.

Hopefully we can actually get some funky eye colours in the CC this time.

buzzcuts in a game set in medieval fantasy just....doesn't work.

It was like that crap with Sam Worthington in The Clash of the Titans.  He had a freaking buzzcut the entire movie and looked ridiculous.

Given that Queen Clotild when given the choice of having her Grand-children's hair cut short by their uncles, or those Grandchildren being put to death..che chose for them to be put to death rather than suffer the shame of having short hair,,....yes short hair was considered that bad. http://www.historyto...edieval-haircut

Doesn't mean a thing for the DA verse ofc, but I found it interesting.

I hope so! There are two purple-eyed Dalish that I can recall from the books.

In The Stolen Throne, a Dalish has purple eyes. I think he was a First, but I'm not sure. And in The Masked Empire, Felassan (a Dalish mage) has violet eyes.

SoOooOooOoooOo...Biowareplz.
Gimme pretty marble eyes like all the books describe. :E

I have had lots of people describe me as having "big green eyes". There is large and then there is "stepped off a U.F.O" large, which I believe catagorized the DA2 elves.

God knows that tidbit mattered little in Origins considering the eyes were tiny. I think the ears and a smaller bone structure differs them enough without having to make them completely alien. That is just my opinion and personal preference, of course. I know some disagree and that's okay. I am just happy that they have chosen this route instead of turning them into some mystical foreign object.

Those 'sample' eyes are neither 'big' nor 'large' . More like 'medium-small' to me.

This time they're the same height as humans so I doubt it will be much of a novelty (I miss my short elves lol)

In some of his earlier pictures, Solas seemed to have purple eyes, so I'm hopeful for the cc. Maybe a nice yellow colour like Morrigan's too. And turquoise, for no particular reason.

Honestly, the hair looks pretty horrible. :\

I wasn't expecting anything near Tomb Raider's level of detail when it comes to hair, but the guy's hair looks like it was applied with a sponge and black paint and the girl's hair looks like something from DA:O... but, on a positive note, the freckles are awesome and the faces are very detailed!
