Oh goody, they look like humans with pointy ears.

Yes, Elves are humans with pointy ears, Dwarves look like short humans and Qunari are just tall humans with horns...right?

It's all rather simplistic when you ignore the cultural differences that make them different.

I very much enjoyed seeing a couple of elf appearance options. Kudos for the freckles!

I hope we can use the old vallaslin designs from Origins in DAI, that tattoo looks really cheap.

I'm sure everyone has their favorites, but I hope I'll be forgiven for saying I like the new ones better already.  Hopefully full-face tattoos will be available for those that want them, but I like to see the inquisitor's face if I'm going to spend more time than I'd admit to on it.

Does the eye tattoo look like a Norse/Celtic representation of a snake to anyone else?  Cool.

I think it looks like someone tried to draw some musical notes on their face when they were really really drunk.

I like the new ones better too, even though we haven't seen that many of them yet. I bet there will be more complex ones too.

The thing I'm wondering is... will we be able to change the position of the vallaslin too? It looked like we could place scars in our Quizzie's face according to the short first look we got at the CC. Could it be the same with the vallaslin? 'Cause that'd be cool!

I don't understand why so many people are going gaga over some freckles. If real life was like this, there would be a lot fewer single people.

I think they both look great, and for me it is yet another reminder of why I love to spend so much time in the initial character customization stage of RPGs

Aye Neverwinter Knight aye. I personally like freckles on a person.

As for the "so we're back to humans with pointy ears?" comment, there was never anything unique about the DA2 elves. Excreting all over the elves and deforming their facial features and then going "aha! now they look unique!" is a class A joke. They still looked like humans, just humans with bigger pointer ears and faces that were of unrealistic proportions. Elves look like humans (just with pointy ears) just like dwarves look like humans (just shorter and with stocky features). If its uniqueness Bioware wanted then they'd create new races rather than going with fantasy stereotypes.

The second one is supposed to be female? I honestly thought it was a man the first time around, even now 'she' still looks rather masculine to me. I'm also not a fan of the freckles to be perfectly honest - very off-putting. Each to their own, I guess.

Where is the face tattoo for that male elf inquisitor? I thought that all elf inquisitors would have mandatory face tattoos because they are Dalish?

Nobody has answered this. If the first picture is supposed to be the Inquisitor, then where is his facial tattoo? Bioware confirmed that Dalish Inquisitors will have to have face tattoos and yet this "Inquisitor" does not.

Some of the most talked about actresses of all time have had freckles. There are loads of current stars who are well known for their freckles.

Emma Watson is probably the most well known, but others include:

Emma Stone.

Eva Green.

Gemma Arterton.

Anna Popplewell.

Rose Leslie.

The idea that someone with freckles is unattractive to anybody is quite frankly wrong.

I don't see any Dalish tattoos on your Inquisitor... are they now optional?

Ryan Treadwell ‏@Ryan_Treadwell
They are actually there. You just can't see them in this shot. Elves have tattoos.

A'koss ‏@Megin_Akoss
Cool - thanks! So, it's just something that will be implemented in the final game?

Ryan Treadwell ‏@Ryan_Treadwell
Yep. You will see it on the final game. If you look very closely at the hairline right above his ear you can see where they are

Łukasz Krawczyk ‏@IlidanDA
Where is Vallaslin? Dalish tattoo.

Ryan Treadwell ‏@Ryan_Treadwell
It's there, just not visible in this shot because I made it a light color. You'll see them in the final game.

Zoom in by the characters ears. There is a crisscross wavy pattern that is almost the same colour as his hair. This is his tattoo.

I like freckles and have them myself, but those on that elf look more like a bad rash, LOL. The tattoo should have been a bit more solid, I think. Other than that the facial textures look good.

I also thought the second was a very pretty guy, and was slightly disappointed that I couldn't make a panty-dropper gorgeous boy in the CC, lol.

Actually, they answered. It's near the ears.
Bioware also said that it'd be possible to make them very faint, so that they might not be visible/very visible.

It's mostly because they've been annoyingly absent.  And they're an expected part of the "cute redhead" look that's kind of popular with some people.

(Fortunately, I had access to mods)

I wonder if Qunari are able to have freckles...

I think it'd be pretty awesome/cute  but I would understant if they don't.

I think they're very pretty, but they backslid a bit too much from the DA2 designs.  I liked the fact that elven faces were visually different from humans - now they just look like pointy-eared humans, so dependent upon our hair or helm coverings we could look entirely indistinguishable.
