I've been so caught up in freckles, customizable ears, that lady elf's hair, etc. that I just realized how much I liked the looks of their lips, miss elf's are so...I think plush is the word?

I like the addition of the freckles, scars (on Cass, for example; don't know if we'll have this option in CC), etc.  I find these additions much more appealing that the plasticky look of past games.  Sure, it can creep into the realm of the uncanny valley, but what are you going to do?  Whatever the case, I always appreciate more options.

To be fair, even in Dragon Age 1, you could make some elves who looked vaguely like DA2 ones.

 

My sole elf runthrough features one! ...I quite like her and her eyes and high nose. So I'm sure with character creator tweaks, you can get an elf at your prefered level of otherness. Solas does a pretty good job of looking nonhuman, but humanesque. Sera not so much, IMO, but that might change when we get some profile shots.

 

I really like the chins. And I do feel like the faces have some solid weight. I hope the creator's pretty robust, because I do fear that I'll make mutant cheekbones and regret everything at least once. It's traditional!

No mirror to change the face this time .

One trick I use for cheekbones , is to turn the face at a 3/4 view , from this angle you can see if you've been a bit crazy with the sliders.

I'm not too happy. They don't look bad, but they just look human. I got some people thought the DA2 look was extreme and they weren't wrong. But I'd rather Bioware had attempted to modify that design rather than just disregard it completely and make them look human.

Awesome that freckles have been added this time around, although i don't plan on using them it's nice to have that option. So far, the character creator is looking nifty

I hope we can use the old vallaslin designs from Origins in DAI, that tattoo looks really cheap.

 

I'm also hoping the original vallaslin are an option for the elven Inquisitor. I don't like any of the new vallaslin that have been shown so far.

I'd like to know this myself as I've no idea. I mean it stands to reason the odd warrior would be good looking and would be in good shape due to training/fighting. 

But for some reason you have people believing their idea of what their warrior looks like is somehow more realistic. Ugly warriors are no more realistic than attractive ones. Both have certainly existed throughout history. 

People just have different tastes when it comes to the look of their main character IMO. Simple as that.

It's there, just really faint - look very, very carefully next to his ear, along the cheekbone and forehead.
