Hey guys lets post qunari inq backgrounds that we plan on using. Ill share mine if you do. (Would go first but self-conscience :P)

I have ... Twenty-four playthroughs "loosely" planned (includes hair, eye, skin, horns or not, romance, pref team, and concept). Six of which are qunari:

Ashkost - name meaning to seek peace
At least one parent qunari and having fled they Qun, they birthed Ashkost outside of Qunari lands and raised him near a Chantry until misfortune took its toll and once on his own, he tried to keep his morality in honor of his parent(s?) while working as a mercenary in the company of those who reminded him of his parent(s).

Asalaaban - name meaning soul of the sea (born at sea)
Two qunari parents fleeing the Qun because of a child born of passion rather than a demand of the Qun, born on the ship and expected to die, Sally ended up following her parents as they worked as Tal-Vashoth and it was never expected she would do anything but fight against them. There was no sense in believing in a tenet that declared you (or your child in her parents' case) invalid.

Sayasala - name meaning with a soul
Stolen from the Qun before he'd learned to speak, not necessarily by a birth-parent, who raised him with at least one other qunari child with whom he may or may not have lost touch. He was raised among liars and thieves, and despite being a talented mage, assisted in forwarding their way of life by means of exotic seduction. Still a virgin, Say is simply to be my uncharacteristic beauty, where if I could mod his body to be lithe and lady-like, I would. He is meant to be androgynous and angelic. Innocent and agreeable. With a soul - and without a purpose. Others would have kept him from the Chantry, no particular objection; but his terror of what the Qun demands of its mages will be part of him.

I was going to stop here, but now I'm having too much fun.

Jolene - named after Dolly Parton's song d: // my Shepard (name meaning pretty, apparently)
Born outside the Qun by at least one qunari parent who found work from a sympathetic farmer after fleeing Qunari lands when they developed magic ability far later than the norm. This magic was hidden from Jolene, and was discovered when a Templar came calling. The Templar was the only thing to keep her parent from killing themselves. Despite being sympathetic to their desire for freedom, Jolene has since sought to be as righteous as the Templar, to be able to save other mages and families. Perhaps rejected by the Templar Order, Jolene satisfies herself with mercenary work.

Sataareth - name meaning that which upholds or enforcer or defender or a sword in DA2
At least 5th generation non-Qunari qunari. She has no ties to her ancestry except some completely butchered language. She is fascinated by it, and respects those who follow the Qun, but feels it is vastly outdated and short-sighted. She fights with the Tal-Vashoth for coin and not any moral or emotional obligation. One parent of hers might be a book-keeper, and the other might work in a winery or whatever - just everyday people.

Kaaras - name meaning navigator (default name, and I loved it)
Story inspired by // stolen from Snook's idea: Pregnant mother fled the Qun because of emotional attachment to her unborn child. Born at sea or very soon after arriving elsewhere. She was able to leave with Tal-Vashoth who wanted their dues and took them from her. She had no more love for them than she did the Qunari. When Kaaras started developing magical ability, the Tal-Vashoth attempted to steal him knowing that she would not approve of them employing them in their work. They were right, a struggle ensued and she was murdered. Kaaras works with them as he has no other place and was once too young to object. Kind of a Frollo - Hunchback theme. However, he isn't all mopey, hiding everything under a layer of lust and humour like other DA characters.

Edit: I think I caught all the qunari, Qunari conflicts. @_@ Damn religion-race confusions.

edit:  The ones you have listed are pretty interesting though... I hope you enjoy the game enough to see all your concepts in action.

Lol. XD I don't know! I'm hoping to get at least 9 done (try all the specializations). If so, that would only include the first two of the mentioned qunari. The game is going to be long, but I expect to be playing it a while. I have 12 finished Origins playthroughs (an unimaginable amount of unfinished playthroughs) and 6 of DA2 (working on 7 & 8 lately (switch if I get mad at Sebastian for his painful "romance" but I've done it before and want to see if there's a difference if you're a mage)). I have 13 conceptualized World States though, and I'd be most excited to see 12 of them.

I'm sorry I'm insane.

I kinda like the idea of the Inquisitor's mother being someone who refused to give up her child to the Tamassrans when he/she was born, and fled the Qun because of it.

That's basically my headcanon atm. It would let me believably make my Adaar hold some Qunari ideals and views because, while she fled, her mother was still a Qunari who just broke one rule and got too attached to her child and wanted to raise it herself. It'd make for a decent middle ground, and I would prefer it to Adaar just being from a family of long time Tal-Vashoth and Vashoth who's completely alienated to the Qun at this point.

Lmao. Omg. I would have preferred it without the chibi lady at the end, and it amuses me that so would the Arishok.
Nice find. // Good work. (:

By the way ... if any of you wanted to make me a small image / icon of a qunari (preferably male) giving a one or two thumbs up, I would use it often. (;

I have never "made" a character before playing them personally..i tend to pick 1 character 1 build, 1 everything and just roll with it.  Many RPG players would call me a "lame" Role playing game player....I think that would be a badge I would have to wear.

If I played a female character it would be good to make a Female Rogue named Zoe Qun.  She will use the worlds most powerful weapon on all weak males (which are almost all) In order to obtain Flemeth level power.  Any man with anything large or small to offer her she will take from him.  She would of course bend everyone male to the will of the Qun.  And use all information and public sway she has to support the Qun.

We know all we need to know of magic and know we do not need it. We will earn everything we have with work and skill.  We do not take the lazy and dangerous way. The Qun will light our path.

The Maker!?  where is he?  Tell him to show himself....prove his presence.  Tell him to submit too! While he still can!

We sit on our island because the Qun demands it and we will until the Qun demands we leave it.  I have ZERO doubt the Qun could defeat all of Tevinter and all of Thedas! If you're so sure that you can make us submit...if you want the saarebas come and get them.  Show your fire.  We stay because the Qun demands it.  You stay out of fear.

3 Juggernauts?  Do the weak ever fight for themselves?  Do you always need others to do your work.  Now you know what I mean when I called magic a crutch for the weak.  Why do you live?  Why do you choose to breathe KNOWING your people are so weak...so unworthy.....can you not do anything for yourselves?  Stand on your feet.

Honor, Strength, Skill, Merit, Power.

Anaan, Asala, Talan, Ataash,Qunari!  Know these things! Learn them! Live them! Breathe them! BE THEM!

Mages are attack dogs....Saarebas are attack dogs.  Not you, not your people. No.  You are parasites.  worthless, pitiful, weak, Sucking on the teet of your magic to MAKE you strong because you never can be on your own.  All you do is take, take, take from your magic.  When its taken from you what will be left?  Anyone with any honor would not live like that.  Qunari anti magic is your future.

Disgusting.

This is your war Qunari, Tevinter has shown those that co-operate and co exist like the Dwarf's have with us that we will have long lasting peace. You have brought this war to Thedas and for all your boast's, For all the apologist cowards in the south who re write history to make you out as great conquers what do you have?

Tevinter has no need to destroy, I've said it before you will destroy yourselves, Tevinter is nought but patient. But know this you bring you armies to our shores we will once again drive you into the sea.

You look back on your pathetic invasion and think winning a few islands is all your glory. For us? it was Tuesday.

The rest of your dribble is but hot air, unless you intend to render us unconscious with your foul breath it is useless.

Hissra Adaar.

I initially conjured the name out of thin air, but it turns out it actually ended up being Qunlat, so I went with it. Hissra means "illusion," and is often used to describe deities. How apropos for the so-called Herald of Andraste. Guess it was meant to be.

Anyway, she's a mage and grew up in a small, and rather nomadic, Tal-Vashoth community. Given the situation, Hissra learned to value food, shelther, clothing and family (this includes friends, all is "family") above all else and the fact that other races have material wants is a foreign concept to her. I haven't decided the background of her parents yet, but as it stands they died during one of the many clashes her tribe has had with Qunari Arvaarad.

I have two other Adaar inquisitors--one more female and a male--but I haven't thought too much into their backgrounds as of yet. Hissra will be my first and "canon" playthrough, and as such, gets the majority of my attention.

thats a slippery slope my brother/sisters whats to stop us from taking more than is allowed aha And what defines the greater good. Good is perspective

pure propaganda of the south.

tell me do you believe the people of the south are free?

the serve their lords and masters of the land paying taxes they have no say on, being conscripted without ask, dying at the whims of the nobles?

do you believe the Qunari are free? being told your entire existence is a job? having no individuality being but a tool? being sent to labour camps or executed, for not obeying?

not to mention the absolute disgraceful conditions they all treat people by based simply on who they a born to be.

Tevinter has no such hang ups, Tevinter is honest we do not hold false freedom over people only the strongest and fairest rule. If a man is a slave we tell him so. we do not lie to his face and convince him he freedom.

none of these societies are honest they are liars and deceivers and they revel in it. Tevinter is older and wiser, Freedom can only be earnt. their will always be slaves and rulers, but slaves deserve the dignity of knowing there place. There's nothing more insulting then a man that thinks he's free while working land he does not own.

So why should Magi rule? because we have a gift from the marker himself, we are living testaments of his will. we can tap into the fade its to alter the very fabric of the world. who else can boast that but the marker himself?

It is we who fight the onslaught of demons, spirits, ghosts, the undead, the arcane we hold back the night. Mundanes? are oblivious to it all. a common misunderstanding of Mundanes is that they are safe when they sleep. but they do not understand.

Demons seek out the magi because they have turned from the maker they hate him and are envious of the living world. they hunt us because we reflect the maker himself. It is our burden to guard the world from these evils until the marker returns.

the Mundane thinks itself safe when it sleeps but listen to the teachings, a magi entering the fade "ättracts" the demons, but what prevents a demon stumbling across a mundane when they are sleeping? the answer is nothing and because they are oblivious when they sleep they are easy prey. could you imagine if the creatures of the fade ever figured this out?

not only are mundane's inherently corrupt they blind themselves to very nature of reality. none more so then the useless followers of the Qun who deny they enter the fade when dreaming.

Only tevinter is honest only tevinter knows the truth. This is because we are ruled by Magi, we can see and walk among both worlds. can a mundane mend bones? can a mudane heal rips in the fade? or truly banish a demon? can a mundane make it rain in the middle of a drought? or warm a lake to prevent it freezing or in the midst of winter? We are guardians of this world and instruments of the makers will. it is not our right to rule the mudanes, it is our duty.

Suggesting that our rule could possibly be wrong? Do you doubt the makers will? why would he give us this gift if we were not meant to use it?

First Play through: Qunari Mage;

"saarebas" Stands tall the cold snapping at his noes and mouth snow falls gently from the sky thinking back on his life: no mother no father from his earliest memory all he new was that others would hunt him living in the woods eating whatever he could catch (which ment mainly berrys, when he would sleep who would be offered food and shelter from a demon which mascaraed as a trust worthy friend, but some how instinctivelt he knew never to trust it, he hated sleeping and would often only do so at the point of exhaustion. but that was better then meeting other people.

when he was young Men in heavy armour would call in strange names like "Apostate" and attack with swords, the knife ears would shoot arrows whenever he would get close to their camps, but worst of all the Qunari those like him with large horns, he counts himself lucky to be alive. his first encounter with them saw them reveal his name (or so he thought) before they grabbed him and tried to hack off his horns. Luckily he was saved by magister who had been hunting the hunters, they never saw it coming she was ripped their bodies are apart with but a flick of her staff.

she took him in explained the world as it was, Tevinter the shining light among the darkness, those men in Armour were Templars sent by the corrupt white chantry to kill all like him, the Knife eared ones were Dalish and evil culture which once tried to annihilate all man kind until tevinter stopped them. and at last the Qunari and dangerous cult that seeks to turn all beings away from the maker, they treat people like him as animals because they are afraid and do not understand.

It was that day he learned he was a mage The magister never explained why she rescued him, Only he was now in her debt she was to be addressed as master, a slave should never even think of their masters name they were master and that was that, she explained if he served her valiantly she would teach him all she knew of magic. and both of them kept their promise. Never sent to a circle but trained by her side. He still remember fondly the own his time in her company. His time in tevinter, The very architecture of Tevinter resonates hinting at its former glory. it was the happiest time of his life, He had found a home.

That was until the Ben hassrath assassins came. For the Qun is an evil that does not sleep. 3 of them snuck into the estate at night and killed her while she slept. cowards! they set fire to the estate and slipped into the night. The other members of the house came and roused him from the slave quarters they blamed him for her death, they said they came for her because they were looking for him, That he had brought this down on their house, He left that night, part in fear they would slay him or worse sell him. Part because he new it was true. Why else would they hunt her down after all those years? consumed by hate he made a vow to make the Qunari pay.

And so he set about hunting down the Qunari agents, After many months of trying he realised he lacked the skills he needed. so he set about entering a path of those on the fringes of society (as he had always been) he joined a local merc band for a bit, before moving into Lyrium smuggling, small stuff at first. but soon to full scale international operations. his advantage of not only being big enough that no one really challenged him, but that not many people believed a Qunari was a fully trained mage often mistaking him for a rouge seeing has he never wore heavy armour and as such tried to stay out of close range........... a mistake that proved fatal for many would be interlopers. he would never admit it but he took pleasure in seeing the look of surprise on their face seconds before a fireball obliterated it.

This assumption that a Qunari walking around free could not be a mage was very useful. But inevitable like all criminals (not they he saw himself as one) he ran a foul of the authority's captured by templars he was thrown in a cell until they got word on what to do with him. Amazingly even the templars did not realise who he was, servilely out numbered (Southern templar scum always travelled in packs) he surrendered without fight.

and that is where he met his first true friend Daylan, A member of the Valo-kas mercenary company and a qunari. For the first time in years he'd found a follower of the Qun, he would have his vengence. He attacked overwhelming the opponent before he could defend him self......... until he felt the knife at his throat. Daylan Explained he was tal-vash no follower of that cult and hated it as much as he did. he explained more of politics and how not all Qunari follow the Qun. Saarebas pondered as to why his master kept this from him, did she think he'd break his vow and run off like other slaves? he'd been nothing but loyal!

after a few heated words and they settled into an state on uneasy silcence, each untrusting the other, as the hours ticked by they bot realised the only way they were getting out was to work together. still they eyed each other with suspicion.

None the less together Saarebas and daylan hatched an escape plan, He can still remember the smirk on Daylan's face when he told him his name (the same smirk most members of the Vale-Kas all show when he tell's them his name, but they never explain as to why)

Saarebas smirks himself, He remembers the look on the face of the templars they slaughtered has he brought down fire from the sky, They were caught unaware, unable to put up their wards or use cleansing magic with sword and shield in hand. they thought they were up against a rogue, they thought wrong. After that battle an unbreaking trust formed between them, fighting along side one another does that to a person, its a bond relying on another you barely know to watch your back to keep you alive and them just as dependant on you.

When they arrived back at the Valo-Kas camp and Daylan explained how an unarmed mage took out 15 templars they insisted he join them and they have been raiding ever since....... Still he has never truly felt part of them, most offer nervious look's wjn they think he's not watching. forcing smiles when its clear he is, (just like like the whores at the brothals they would vist) he he new he was never accecpted anywhere. Not like back in tevinter, Even as a servant they accepted who he was they never cared about his magic they embraced it. Of things had not gone the way they had, he may have been well on his why to being amagister by now. Or would he once the master was dead the reat turned on him in a second. NO, they were angry and upset! and they had a right to be, The Qunari agents killed because of him, He renewed his vow to make the pay for their crimes even after all these years. If they were still alive he would slay them and drag their corpses all the way back to tevinter. As proof that rvrn in exile he was true to his word.

Saarebas checks himself for allowing his mind to wonder, He knows he should be alert and on guard, He is on a mission and has a reputation to uphold. Then the smilies Wryly, One of the most feared merc bands in all of thedas guarding a meeting between warrior mages and templar generals. Oversaw by the White Divine none less.Who would be dumb enough to try and attack?

The South is corrupted by the influence of the white Chantry.

Tevinter has shown plenty of good will to the south, why even in the midst of a civil war and the 5th blight Tevinter was willing to provide vital Revenue streams by purchasing unwanted and under utilised assets from the city of Denerim.

Sadly, Violent Trade Unionists, who are opposed to globalisation. Ransacked the warehouse killing several workers and destroying stock levels and releasing some assets into the local environment.

Look what happens when mundanes are left to rule, they would hunt you down anyone raid your island. It's their nature that which they cannot control they destroy. It is our duty to protect other Magi and teach the mundanes how to be good citizens.

you poor lad the White chantry has really done a number of on you, those poor elves rot in denerim still. Basically useless no job's no skills no hope. Had they gone to tevinter they would have had the honor of working in noble houses on large estates, clothed, housed and feed at no cost and given vital life skill's, Any identified as mages would have been trained correctly and become proper citizens. They would face no racial discrimination and be protected by those that are responsible for them.

It is true that there have been some that Mistreat their slaves and this is unfortunate, However much of the stories are largely beat up's, After all slaves are expensive and vital asset required run many of the larger properties in Tevinter Injuring or harming slaves is simply not good business as it negatively affects their output.

Notice how your indoctrination by the white chantry instantly lead you to use the loaded term "slave trade" not caring about the poor workers who were looking after the slaves at all. They were Fathers, Husbands, Sons, Brothers. Their families will never see them again, This was a completely legal transaction if those.... Criminal's! had an issue with the morality of the transaction. why didn't they contact the arl and have it sorted out?

Why did innocent law abiding folk have to die to "free" some elves, who would then return to their slums to be starved and preyed upon by sexual deviants?

It is true that there have been some that Mistreat their slaves and this is unfortunate, However much of the stories are largely beat up's, After all slaves are expensive and vital asset required run many of the larger properties in Tevinter Injuring or harming slaves is simply not good business as it negatively affects their output.

true from a perspective but my qlognment with the white chantry is primarily "too lazy to change things" i dont fault any nation or politics simply trying to be a conservative voice haha
