was feeling left out with all these popping up. Where's the love for us 'boring' people?

anyway how are you Trevelyan players planning on playing? Embracing your chantry roots? Fighting your upbringing at every chance and shaming your family at every possible opportunity?

I plan on making mine a womanizing scoundrel of a rogue who's basically the child that the Trevelyan family would try to hide in a closet at fancy parties, cause he would probably hit on the host and drink all the wine.

A generally upstanding human warrior, based in part on Stannis the Mannis of the House Baratheon, first of his name, King of the Andals, the First Men, and the Rhoynar, chosen of R'hollr, and protector of the Realm

Seriously though, I don't usually play as a human when I'm given some other option to dig into, but the human mage origin sounds cool. I'll give it a go eventually.

Hey now, it's not ok to go into the the Elven or Dwarven thread and just say "Ew no Elves/Dwarves are bad" so it's not ok to do it here.

I'm pretty sure we're joking.

I think.

I guess we could really all be full of self-loathing though.

Anyone else think that the humans of Thedas can in the near future completely wipe out the other races? I mean the Dalish are small in number, city elven could be taken out easy enough. The dwarves are small in number it would seem in DAI. The only race that seems to not be taken out easily are the Qunari...

I am looking forward to my human warrior playthrough. He will be a devout follower of the Chantry, and while he will publicly embrace the Herald of Andraste title to give the people hope, in private he will be uncomfortable with the mantle.

As a noble, he will be generally unconcerned about the plight of servants or bandit savages, but the dwarves and their Merchant Guild will rate his attentions.

And it should go without saying that Magic should serve Man. From the Circles. Watched carefully by the noble Templar order.

Good luck wiping out the Dalish, rag tag groups spread out across the entirety of Thedas in forests they know far better than you.

Guerilla warfare can totally shift a battle. Even for a force that is far outnumbered.

Well, in the elves' case, if they just mate too much with humans for a couple of generations, they're hooped.

Which kind of has a stigma against it on both sides, so it isn't likely to happen, but...it's a thought.

Humans don't actually have to do anything special to wipe out the Dalish. Normal expansion, turning woodlands into farmland, etc, will increasingly restrict Dalish movement. Declining population will also become a problem, since the Dalish can't replenish losses from accident or illness using extra-Dalish sources. Every Clan wiped out by a demon, Keeper abomination, or PC brings the Dalish a Clan closer to extinction.

That might work... given several centuries. at best. Technological expansion is greatly reduced in magical environments. There's less call for faster forms of communication when each circle has instantaneous communication, less call for medical treatment when mages can make potions or just wave their hand at you.
That leaves you with natural causes to exterminate the Dalish, and anything nasty enough to take out such a widespread group of individuals is almost deinfately going to wipe out most of the humans as well. Honestly the Dalish are MORE likely to survive a natural disaster.

Good luck turning forests into farmland on a large enough scale, not to mention the Dalish aren't going to just sit there and let it happen.

Oh don't listen to those Dwarf and Elf lovers. They're just mad that they're inferior compared to the master race.

I'm doing a human mage as my third or fourth playthrough I think. I'm going to play the other races first though, since I feel like humans won't get that many interesting and unique situations and dialogue options being the 'default' race.

My first playthrough will be as a human mage romancing Dorian, so it will be a rather human-centric playthrough. I like all the other races, but it's fun to play a human every once and a while.

My female human will be a templar warrior who is a chantry supporter. She will be someone who believes that mages can be a threat and that circles are therefore needed, though she would ideally prefer a better system where the mages don't feel as oppressed. She would like a peaceful solution to the conflict, one that will benefit both sides and keep the world safe. She will likely romance Sera in what I hope would be a drama free healthy relationship.

My male human will be a highly gifted knight enchanter mage who is anti-chantry, anti-circle and anti-templar. He feels extremely bitter that he was taken away from his future in nobility to live a life as a prisoner under the constant watch of the templars. He desperately wants to win the mage/templar without a lot of bloodshed, but dislikes that there doesn't seem to be a peaceful solution that will favor the mages. He will likely romance IB for the high drama factor.

They're not set in stone. I might change them.

My main will be a male Human mage who believes that mages are superior to non-mages and desires to create a new Imperium. He is extremley anti-Templar and anti-circle and hates the Chantry for denying him his noble birthright. He does not agree with the peace talks and would like to continue the war.

My 4th playthrough will be a male Human warrior he is a hedonistic fellow who cares little for the templar/mage war as he cares only for power and position in the nobility.

The human background story sounds great and is very integral to the whole mage vs templar situation.

Im playing both a mage and a templar human for these reasons.
