They killed people to live forever. That's the definition of a parasite. Saying, "How's that a parasite. They just used the Fade," is wrong. They didn't. They summoned demons and killed each other. As much or worse than Orlais. Parasites.
As far as I know, it was only the dreamers that lived forever and they did it by siphoning off the fade, hence why there was that funky test about with the honey water on the lips or what not.
I'm going to use the definition presented to me instead of your opinions, if you don't mind. We know the Taint doesn't sustain Grey Wardens. We know Avernus is a Grey Warden. He clearly states what he did. His opinion is above yours in every way.
Except it's not, by any stretch of the imagination besides your own words.
Except we have direct evidence its not just my words. That dwarf chick following the architect around has been alive since before Alistair was born and does not seem particularly aged. We know the taint has the ability to sustain life and we know it doesn't directly kill the wardens. The wardens go on the calling to get themselves killed before they fully succumb to the taint and become ghouls proper.
Your acting as if Tevinter isn't a cesspit or corruption, persecution, slavery, and duels in the streets. These things happen all the time. And yet Tevinter goes on. But you know, the elves had powerful magic, so they didn't do these things and really lived forever. Do you honestly believe elven dreamers would be the only ones to discover such things?
I fully realise what Tevinter is, and yet it is still supposed to be functional society. We're not talking drow levels of derp-evil here. If it was as singularly deadly as you seem to think it is it would have completely collapsed on itself ages ago, regardless of the amount of slaves imported or what not. The magisters would be killing each other faster than they could reproduce. We've had plenty of brutal societies and yet it never prevented some people from making it to a ripe old age. Same would apply to Tevinter, doubly so given the society is predicated on furthering the interests of magisters.
Um, what? If the Fade was keeping him alive, why would he die instantly from releasing the curse? No spirit has ever been able to sustain anything before, even Justice using his body until it became a rotting corpse. Much more than it was before.
Justice's body was already a rotting corpse when he got it, Kristoff had been dead for a bit before we found him. Sustaining a living body and resurrecting/restoring the dead are two different things. As for being able to sustain living things we actually know they can. The desire daemon from the Shale DLC was trapped in a cat for decades and kept its host alive.
In my opinion, which doesn't contradict things said in game because I believe that they make no sense to me, Zathrian bound himself the spell he cast. Well that's sort of my opinion, but mostly what was said in game.
I'm not disputing that, Zathrian bound himself to the spell that was cast, but there's more to it than that, he wasn't constantly reinforcing it with new blood magic, he didn't even sacrifice a bunch of people as far as we know to get the spell going and yet the curse kept him at a seemingly fit middle age. Similarly even after you kill the lady and the werewolves he keeps his immortality, it means he must be tapping into something more to sustain himself. Its not a Bathory type scenario where he needs to regularly bath in the blood of virgins to keep his girlish good looks.
I support human apex race 100%.
Maker willing, we can crush our racial enemies the dalish knife ears and the oxmen in DAI with the help of city elf auxiliaries, the dwarves and mages who've been brought to heel.
I've heard a rumour that the Qunari racual bonus has been changed from 50 points of health to a mere 10% melee defense. Here's hoping no one changes our extra ability point.
I doubt it but the Qunari one was terrible compare to the rest.
Things have been a bit quiet on this thread. I hope no one has forgotten about humanity.
lets livin it up;post inq backgroundsThings have been a bit quiet on this thread. I hope no one has forgotten about humanity.
Given that Melee attacks are much more common, the changes easily makes Qunari warrior the best one. (though only slightly but its still the best buff for a warrior who is always in melee range and taking hits)
This would make sense if there were only melee enemies.
Not "only". If for example out of every ten enemies we face and if we make an average scale, 1/10 is mage, 3/10 is archer and 6/10 is melee then the Qunari racial is very good for a warrior. Even 5/10 is good. As long as the number of melee enemies is either half or more Qunari racial is best for warriors. This would make sense if there were only melee enemies.

Yeah, pulling arbitrary numbers from arbitrary enemies doesn't really help your argument. Best we wait until we actually see them.
Human Male Mage Inquisitor: Rodrigo Trevelyan
Bio: Born into the prominent Trevelyan family in Ostwick, Rodrigo was expected to live a life devoted to the Maker, until his magic was discovered. Sent to the Circle in Ostwick, Rodrigo reveled in his power, yet was resentful that he would never have a life beyond being a mage. He read extensively on the Tevinter Imperium and wished that he had been born there instead of the Free Marches. He was extremely impressed and admired the Hero of Ferelden, Saruman Amell and the Champion of Kirkwall, Horus Hawke, two great heroic mages, convinced that mages could influence the world for the better, unrestrained by the Chantry. Appalled when he heard how the Templars nearly wiped out the Circle in Kirkwall for the crimes of a single apostate, Rodrigo became convinced that the Chantry would never truly accept mages no matter what they did, he joined his fellow mages in rebellion. He is unwillingly brought along to the peace conference, even though he believes it is futile. The only way to win the war is to completely crush the Templars. Despite himself, he is happy to come along, as a major historian he looks forward to examining the Temple of Sacred Ashes and maybe see them for himself. Then the Breach happened....
Personality: Rodrigo has never felt shame in being a mage. While he does believe in the Maker and Andraste somewhat, his views are more similar to the Imperial than Orleasian Chantry. Of course, he keeps quiet in front of Templars. He is witty, sarcastic, a little bit cynical but he firmly believes in mage liberation, but doesn't let it rule his life.
Companions and Advisors: Varric: Rodrigo loves listening to Varric's stories, especially those concerning Hawke. He views him a s the fun loving big brother he always wanted. Their sense of humor being the same, they get along just fine.
Cole: Rodrigo is fascinated by Cole. The spirit looks human yet is clearly not from this side of the Veil. He defends him from the xenophobes and is determined to uncover what he is.
Sera: Rodrigo is a bit perplexed by Sera. The elf's chaotic lifestyle is a stark contrast to the orderly world he knew in the Circle. Personally he finds her quirky, and enjoyable. He doesn't agree with her in regards to decision making, but they have fun all the same.
Solas: Rodrigo admires Solas. His views on the Fade are a topic of great interest for him and enjoys discussing the nature of the realm of dreams with him.
Blackwall: Rodrigo sees Blackwall as a mentor figure. The legendary Grey Wardens have always been a soft spot for him and he regularly asks the veteran for advice .
Iron Bull: Rodrigo is suspicious of Bull. Having heard of the Qunari attack of Kirkwall, and hearing on their views of magic, he is reluctant to place too much faith in the Qunari spy. He tries to keep a close eye on him, when it doesn't look creepy.
Vivienne: Rodrigo is neutral when it comes to Vivienne. On the one hand she's a smart, ambitious and powerful mage who has managed to make a position for herself in the the most powerful nation in Thedas. On the other hand she's a snarky, arrogant, b**** who does nothing but comment on everyone's attire. It's going to be tough to like her.
Dorian: Rodrigo is curious to learn more about Tevinter from an actual native and not a biased account from the Chantry. He is also envious of his mustache and has vowed to grow one like his.
Cullen: Rodrigo is uneasy and often critical of the former Templar, however he has earned Rodrigo's respect for surviving what he did. He sometimes comes to him to ask more about the Templars. In order to defeat the enemy, you need to know him.
Josephine: Rodrigo enjoys Josephine and loves to talk to her regarding politics and other nations. He has developed a small crush on the diplomat but he's hesitant to act on it. Mixing pleasure and business usually, never turns out well.
Leliana: Like Varric, Rodrigo goes to Leliana to hear her stories, particularly her adventures with the Hero of Ferelden. He is careful due to her history as a spy, but upon hearing of her role in the White Spire uprising, grows to warm up to her.
Cassandra: Last but not least. The Seeker. Not exactly love at first sight. Having your sword at someone's throat is a poor way to make a first impression. He respects the Seeker and her many accomplishments, but dislikes her bias towards mages, although she refuses to elaborate why beyond the usual Chantry jargon. He is determined to find out more about her and he hates to admit it, he finds her incredible attractive. He hasn't told anyone yet and always maintains a serious look when speaking with her.
Goals: Close the Breach. End the Mage Templar war with the mages victorious. Bring an end to the Orlesian Civil War supporting Empress Celene. Uncover more information regarding the Fade. Romance Cassandra. Stop/Join the Elder One.(Depends on his plan. Might even replace him)

Amazing how everyone is jealous of Tevinter isn't it?
Amazing how everyone is jealous of Tevinter isn't it?
They are the oldest humans on Thedas and their capital has never fallen. It was besieged by men, qunari and Andraste herself and never fallen, in fact utterly defeating the attackers.
Those numbers accurately show the type of enemies we face in DA2. 10% were mages, 30% were ranged physical damage dealers and 60% were melee enemies. We have to see how different DA:I is.
Which is the point. And actually, those numbers don't accurately reflect every enemy type in DA2, so I'm still not sure what your point is. Considering it's also a vastly different type of game to this one, pulling up old numbers would be useless regardless.
Because Tevinters are bad-***
They certainly have a "bad" government. I am looking forward to hear more about it from Dorian, apparently there are people who want to make Tevinter better.
I support this thread and humans. A lot of my friends are human and some of them are all right.
