Meant to say half of eastern Europe, don't how I didn't type eastern. Regardless those areas was quite safe while Byzantine still stood. Balkans, Hungary and some other eastern parts fell, Vienna is part of west so my argument still stands. Byzantine Kept ottomans in check and Tevinter is doing the same. There analogy doesn't have to be perfect.

no they weren't, the Hungarian crusade was butchered by the Ottomans in the 1530's.

Byzantium had neither the resources or manpower to be anything more than a nuisance to the Ottomans by 1453.  "The Shield of Europe" fell long before Constantinople did.

You mean qunari.

I'm sorry. I don't respect walking-and-talking hamburgers anymore than I do the rest of the cattle. The fact that they're a bunch of dogmatic, backward, and totalitarian idiots doesn't help either. Their only redeeming quality is their technology, and we'll have that soon enough.

Going by flashbacks, human technology hasn't advanced in several centuries.

That gives me an idea, it wouldn't be considered cannibalism to eat the oxmen or for that matter elves now would it? Human cuisine is about to become more varied if I have my way.

I don't think it is. Humans eat monkeys, chimps, and other anthropoids. That's not cannibalism.

Everyone over the age of 10 knows what the Modest Proposal is. That's like linking the Christmas Carol because you thought someone has never heard of it.

Most people in my college class don't.
It's a tragedy.

For all Warhammer 40K fans I've found the funniest YouTube videos called the emperor uses a text to speech device. It is hilarious. The Emperor finds out about the current state of his Imperium, and he isn't entirely happy about what he learns.

Only Tevinter is not weak like the Byzantine Romans. If anything we are getting stronger. Those horned beasts are no match for us.

No, they're getting weaker. The Tevinter Imperium is smaller now than it's been at any time since the Fall of Arlathan. Maybe even including then.

Having a smaller territory is not necessarily a bad thing either, certainly when you're looking to hold off an invasion. It means you have a greater concentration of force, stronger supply lines and aren't completely over-extended.

Tevinter might be smaller than in any time since Arlathan. But they are also probably better defended than in anytime since Arlathan given they are no longer trying to hold together the entire continent. Tevinter got as big as it did in part because there was nothing to there that could challenge them until the Blight and Andraste came along.

It's also a sign they aren't able to defend or hold the territory they once could.

Prior to the blight they never really had to hold or defend those territories against any concerted attacks. The Tevinter Imperium was likely bloated for centuries and remained as large as it did because there was no organised force to challenge them. Part of the reason Andraste did as well as she did is because she actually managed to cobble together a proper army.

What is up, my fellow humans? As you can see from my baby-smooth face, I am definitely not a dwarf. I'm also not wearing lifts. Please, continue talking about human supremacy.

But even since Andraste's Exalted March they've been steadily loosing ground over the centuries and haven't been able to recover lost territory. A hundred years after Andraste's death Rivain freed itself from Tevinter rule after a long a rebellion. 50 years after that the Imperium abandoned the Anderfels in the Second Blight. And unlike the first time they lost it, they have never been able to reconquer it. Now they've lost Seheron to the Qunari for the second time, probably for good.

That only proves what I said, Tevinter was bloated. Now that they don't have to defend colonies they're in a stronger position to defend Tevinter itself as they can more properly concentrate their forces.

Now they've lost Seheron to the Qunari for the second time, probably for good.

Seheron is an active warzone. The Qunari have yet to actually take it and establish proper control and that's despite the fact that Seheron is an island the Qunari have a superior navy. The cows are fighting at an advantage in what was a dubiously entrenched/controlled part of Tevinter and they are still just barely winning.
