Clearly Bioware is pushing a bisexual female elf agenda. I call shenanigans!

I agree. Fenris calling Hawke "capable" as in skilled at killing, doesn't sound like a flirt to me. More like a nonsexual compliment. But Hawke is supposed to interpret that as a flirt.
Now if he was like Shale.... "I was watching the light play on your muscles as you ended lives left and right..." that would be another matter.
I think you can choose to see it as a flirt. Not necesssarily expected to. (But Fenris little cough and blush makes me squee so I usually hit the flirt there. Plus the "work on my flattery" line makes me melt).
Wait what.

It's no wonder why Fenris is one of my favorite DA2 LIs,less whiny than Anders and a much more emotional romance.

Yeah I know. But if it weren't for the giant glowing heart button I wouldn't have thought it flirty at all. I also enjoy all the rare times I can make Fenris smile, and that is one of them.

I've just made an observation which may hint at a reason why the two extra LIs added benefit female Inquisitors:
Consider a straight female human or elf Inquisitor. Without the additional options, she would have....Blackwall and Iron Bull as options. The problem is that one of them is an exotic. Which means that without the additional options, there would be a similar situation as in ME3, where if you weren't into aliens you'd be limited to one option (Kaidan) as a femShep, and you'd be completely stumped if you had a strong preference for younger men, which is rather common. Meanwhile, straight male human or elf Inquisitors have two human options (Cassandra and Josephine) of unproblematic age. I think that as opposed to elves, Iron Bull is exotic enough to put a significant amount of players off because of his appearance, and Blackwall old enough to put a significant amount of players off because of his age. It makes sense to add a more conventionally good-looking option. And Solas is the token male elf to balance the female elf.

That doesn't make sense for straight female dwarf and qunari though ^^; They are stuck with BW and Bull who are both quite similar in my eyes.. very masculine and muscular.
Sigh, I had hoped they would have distributed LI's better and more equally, both race- and gendergating.

HIs rivalrymance also is really good because yes while they do argue you get plenty of opportunities to make Fenris blush and laugh and actually feel like he is falling in love with Hawke despite the arguing.

The one where he calls Hawke capable and you flirt back, then when he says he'll practice his flattery for your next visit he gives a cute little smile.

Oh yeah I don't see that as a flirt just Fenris as someone without any friends gave an awkward turtle compliment. But Hawke decided to take it as a flirt and Fenris awkwardly flirted back XD

If Cassandra isn't your type (which I can understand. She isn't mine either) you still have Josephine. Anyway, as I see it I have 8 LI options. If I'm unwilling to adapt my game or my character in order to romance them, that's my problem. RP games provide a unique opportunity to project ourselves into a fictional world as characters who aren't like we are. I suggest we take full advantage of that. Likely few people will be willing to play the whole range, but somewhere beyond "Just like me" can reasonably be expected I think.
I usually play female protagonists. In ME2, I went beyond my habit in order to romance Miranda, and the resulting character became my favorite and most fully developed Shepard. Really, it doesn't hurt to try something different.

Having your work rejected because it wasn't specifically what someone wanted is reality for every creative person. Being on the arse end of it all can be tough, "everyone" and "happy" just aren't roommates, no matter how hard you try. Better to just do your thing and smile when you’re appreciated. Cassandra I think is an excellent example of that. The artists working on her did a fantastic job, she looks very strong and beautiful. But will everyone think like me? Hell. No.
But these threads don't bother me, I'm not working on the game; everyone’s aloud to say their piece.
Still, I'll be plaguing the place with positivity whenever I can.
As for this being a complaint to haunt the game… I don’t think so. And if it is, shame on everyone who perpetuates it.

If you don't say anything then it's your own fault if nothing changes. Women had to remind developers that they play games too. Then LGB players had to point out that playing straight or gender-swapping to have a romance with their preferred gender every time was disapointing. The developers didn't jump to this conclusion on thier own.
I'm concerned the writers' have decided the focus on their female players when it comes to Romances. This, in and of itself, is fine and within their rights and maybe makes the best sense. But if, in doing so, less and less resources are allocated to something I do like in the game (female romances), then I should probably point out that I like the romances too. I have to say I don't want one of my two options to be a character who you can't take in your party, especially because the other designated straight female is usually the one I never like (The Morrigan/Miranda Lawson "hot chick" with the frosty personality). If I don't, then the next game could have even less content for me because "the complaints were minimal".

I really do hope Josephine being an advisor and not a companion is not super disappointing in practice. I've heard the whole "same word budget" speech but it doesn't sway me as Romance scenes take up less than ten minutes of play anyway.
Beyond "just like me" has a range. Past a certain point it breaks immersion. I can and do play those types of characters on second and third play-troughs, of course. They aren't as fun, but i will try them.

Um, well if you play a gay male your options are one human and one "exotic," which is even "worse" than ME3 (I say worse because I don't think there's anything wrong with Bull, but in ME3 at least your two options were human.)

We lose the companion banter with advisors. In DA2 that has been a significant contribution to characterization. I am somewhat concerned but it's quite possible the writers have ideas to balance that lack.
Beyond "like me" has a range for me, too. I am gender-adaptable, so man or woman doesn't make a difference in my ability to play them, but I'm not orientation adaptable, f/f feels odd to me and m/m completely alien. Which still leaves me with 6 LIs I could romance with no problem at all in terms of roleplaying ability. In any case, personality and individual attractiveness are far greater limitations than gender plus orientation could ever be, cutting off about half of these 6 options, unless one or the other manages to surprise me.
