Super Drone, come back in a few months and tell me you hated Cassie after grouping with her.

Also, no! hetero males will not loose LIs when 2 is the normal for them in last two titles, now three titles. There are plenty of straight males within Bioware to keep straight male LIs going just fine.  Also, you are prejudging characters without talking to them first. Cassie wasn't in full light of showing who she is/was in Dawn of Seeker, and hardly got to see much of her in DA2, she is a romantic, she doesn't take sh*t from anyone. She doesn't let people walk all over her. There is a lot more than this we don't know yet. Cant say know everything about her.

My thing is, wait and see.  I am not going to be surprised when many of these Cassie haters end up loving her.

*shrug* I will try, but I'm not optimistic. I tried Morrigan on my second play-through of Origins (Leliana was, of course, my first). God she was vile.

David Gaider writes some awesome characters. Sadly, while I've liked some of the male Romances, of all the females romances he's written , I've liked one (I think, Aerie from BG2 was Gaider, right?)

Personally I think I know enough about the characters already to know if they are attractive to me or not. I know how they look and I know about their personalities as well. Dorian, Cullen, Cassandra and Iron Bull are the attractive one's for me. Iron Bull not physically so but I like his personality. I'll give Solas and Josephine some leeway, I'm not sure about them. In other hand I know that Sera and Blackwall aren't the one's for me.

I didn't follow who wrote which characters in previous games back then. One Dev is saying he is having a blast with Cassie.

I know a straight man loves Dorian and a gay man loves Sera.   devs as well.  :)

I get that the character archetype may not be to your liking but stating they have ‘nothing going for them’ seems a bit farcical to me.

Yeah well, I could put the qualifier "according to present, incomplete knowledge" in front of everything I say, but that I don't doesn't mean that I'm not aware of the fact. I thought it was accepted implicitly that everything we say here is preliminary. But if you insist: according to present, incomplete knowledge, he has nothing going for him. There is the theoretical possibility that this might change but I consider that unlikely given my dislike for the archetype.

And since my refusal to consider him for romance is based on the degree of physical non-humanness, that is also very unlikely to change.

Umm.....different preferences. *Really* different preferences... that romance challenged my roleplaying ability.

Cassandra's just not going to do it for some people. Enough, it seems, to make it one of the complaints that will haunt this game...

I too am finding it quite difficult to be attracted to her. Believe me I've tried but I don't know if it's her face or the short hair, I just don't feel any attraction at all. Josie on the other hand, looks gorgeous but the fact that she can't accompany me on missions is a disappointment. I only hope it's true that the advisor romance content is on par with that of the companions. Otherwise, well... let's just say I'm going to be sad  :(

Considering that many here have been very specific about what they definitely don't want you'll pardon me if I took what you said as anything other than precursory. Stating your choices as static prior to gameplay seems to be a BSN thing.

I can say with relative confidence that I won't like IB or Sera because I don't like brash, "fun" characters as LIs because I end up feeling like I have to babysit them. I tend to play serious and responsible types.

Cullen leaves me cold. There's nothing wrong with him and he's perfect on paper, so this could change. But there's just no spark.

I was very interested in Dorian before his sexuality was revealed. Less so now because nothing is standing between me and a British female Inquisitor on first playthrough. But he's a charming aristocrat with a great voice. I'll get around to him in time.

Solas...I don't know. I don't find him attractive. But he has a great voice. But he's highly gated. But his concept intrigues. This one will depend on in-game impressions and if I can come up with a good female elf.

I need more data on Josephine. I like her concept, but the "nice girl" LIs tend not to work for me and I hated ME3 Liara.

Cassandra reminds me of Miranda in all the ways that matter. If she were bisexual, I might be torn for first playthrough. As is, there's an elf mage with her name on it.

I've been hoping for Blackwall since he was announced. Handsome and I like what little we know of him. My human female rogue is ready to go.

So Blackwall first and then I'll decide who's next after actually meeting them.

I have to say that it's kind of refreshing to not be sure who I'm going to romance on my first playthrough. In DA: O, I only had Zev, so it was set for me. In DA 2, I knew I was going to go with Anders because I liked him so much from DA: A (little did I know.....) and have a bias against skinny elf LIs. In ME 3, NOTHING was going to convince me to romance Steve before Kaidan, who I had been waiting for through two previous games.

But in DA: I, it could go either way. I think Dorian will be first because he's pretty damned handsome and I tend to like 'dashing' guys. But body type wise, IB is what I've really been waiting for and he's also supposed to be pretty charming too.

Cassandra has two things going against her: I don't find her attractive and she works for the Chantry. That she's possibly quite interesting is not enough to balance that. I don't dislike her and definitely want to know her better, I just don't want her as an LI, as of now

Cullen, yeah, he is quite attractive but he's fixed in my mind as DAI's pretty-boy AND he's a templar on top of it. Yet again, I don't dislike him but I don't want him as an LI.

Iron Bull, well, he's an alien. You know what I thought about interspecies romance in ME. Here the biology is not an issue but on my side, there is a degree of non-humanness beyond which I find characters unattractive to the point of being repulsive. Friendship is very much OK with them as long as they're interesting enough, but sex? Unthinkable. On top of that, the Iron Bull is the type of character I find completely boring and uninteresting. Really, he has absolutely nothing going for him. He'll probably be my least-used companion in all three DA games. Well, maybe except for Oghren, who would be good competition except that he's required for DAA. You have no idea how much I resented that my least favorite DAO companion made a return as a required one in DAA.

Anyway, I do have Blackwall, who I find interesting as well as attractive-by-proxy in an altogether weird manner, Josephine, whose role as diplomat hints that she may somewhat fit my preferences personality-wise and who I also find attractive, and Solas who is a foregone conclusion because of his unique views on magic and knowledge of the Fade. He takes, so to say, Miranda's slot in that.

I feel the same about the "Bull", while I was all over Garrus in ME, because he was just that awesome. And Garrus looked... weird, but at least he was normal compared to all the other Turians. Even among the Qunari Iron Bull is an ugly freak. One eye, scars, okay. But a tiny head, ridiculously large horns sticking out to the side of his head instead of to the back and so muscular it is not even close to being attractive... what the frig? And then the defining characteristic I keep hearing about him is that he "humps everything that moves and won't break". Wow. Even Zevran and Isabela had SOME standards.

I know this will probably be dismissed as me being shallow and only wanting pretty boys, but I feel there's a difference here between a character that is not handsome (Garrus) or has some serious scars (Zaeed), and a character that just looks weird. As in, proportions are all wrong and the character no longer looks like something believable. Some part about Bull's character might surprise me in the game itself, but so far everything I hear and see gets a "no, no, no, NO" from me.

But yay, Blackwall! :D

I had the same view you know , with mass effect . I got it later , way late . The ending raging boat had sailed and wasn't part of it . All the squad you had were all written in the Wiki with pictures . So while waiting , I looked up the class , the story , the alignement (if there were any) and who the hell I get to smooche .

I remember how I viewed them from their pictures alone . Both Kaidan and Ashley looked asian (no they really do lol) , Liara was blue and Talis looked hidden .

Then looked at Mass effect 2 cast , more weirdo great . Garrus looked Eww..what was that ? Samara and morinth (mother and daughter? no Thanx) , Jacob and Miranda looked too perfect . Thane was green and looked like a bug .

Then played the game , and...I loved some and hated some . Ashley and Kaidan sucked and were a great dissapointement (in their belief ) . Loved and become best bud with Garrus , heck I even think if I were hetero..he be my man .

Liara , Samara ...and all the Asari ? become my main new obsession . Samara was and is my chosen romance .

Thane still creep me out though  I saw his romance with a femshep and I did find it sad , but he is certainly not my type . I don't go for 'about to die....' .

Jacob..let just say...he never survive in my playtrough . Miranda growth surprised me so did Jack and wish I could romance them both . Talis made me proud so many time , and I see her as a little Sister and nothing more .

the Kelly chambers.....I still think she must be a droid with human skin

Morinth isn't something I call a romance or anything like that . Even my scariest evil toon..wouldn't go near her .

So yeah..love that in game you change your mind . I'm really hoping for the same in DAI . Although , I do not find any of them ugly as such . Merely there is alot of unknown and I'm hoping they be full of surprises .  ;)

Well, my other option was Jaheira. The shrewy grump who b*tches at you right up to the point where she spends the rest of the game using her dead husband to kinda-sorta come on to you. You, the person that was born when she was already a full-grown adult. Do not want.

Oh, and Viconia, who I never once considered taking with me. I've read transcripts of the romance content, though. Both Ice Queen and vindictive and mean-Spirited? Desperately Do Not Want. Like the Anti-Matter Version of Want.

Yeah, this is how I feel about him, too lol Unfortunately, I dislike my other option even more. But I'm buying the game on PC in hopes of there being a few "surface" aesthetic mods, even though the engine is supposedly impossible to mod. But what can you do?

I'm usually only interested in the nice girls. Liara acually proved to me there was such a thing as too nice. For a bit there I nicknamed her "Princess Peach", she felt that bland.

Then Tali as available in ME2 and I just stopped caring... :)

Please. The Ice Queens, Femme Fatales and Mean Girls are always straight. I wish for once the archetypes were spread around. And that's not just because I want a game where those types of romances aren't always one of my options because I hate them. Honestly.

Advisors will have some scenes and dialogue that companions won't have. Also it seems like they will be part of missions at sometimes, like Leliana was part of the Redcliffe mission and had even badass cutscenes.

Not necessarily. She could accompany us on missions that are less combat-heavy and more about dialogue. Like for example meeting various factions.
