Meh.  He still counts an option.  He might not be your cup of tea, but I'm sure that there were people who liked that romance.

Yep he's a crappy option but he's there.

Thank ra for BG romance mods though.

The thing that gets my goat about Anomen's romance, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen with ANY of the male romance options, is that there is no "right" answer to his personal drama.  If you advise him to seek vengeance for his sister's death, then he finds out that he killed the wrong people, and if you tell him not to seek vengeance, his drunken father attempts to do so and gets killed.  Either way, the "romance" is basically enduring Anomen's blame and misplaced anger towards the Bhaalspawn for giving the advice that he begged for.

Then of course, there's the way he acts when he finds out about your character's parentage.  I understand that BG2 romance arcs were limited by necessity back then, but it sure didn't feel like the male romances were about being patient while being unfairly blamed for stuff.  MEH

The men have always had 2 love interest options in all the Dragon Age games so far. Well, three if you count Queen Anora and Tallis as love interests.

We are still getting the same basic 2 in DA:I as well.

One big niggle I have is that the lack of intellectual female follower as love interest. Yes, Josephine is a diplomat, ambassador, politician. She is just an adviser though, not your follower, you can't take her out to fight or explore Thedas. She seems to be like Traynor except she is bisexual. I don't think we have even had an intellectual female love interest in Dragon Age which is strange considering we had Liara T'Soni and Tali Zorah in Mass Effect.

Also, here is a nice video for people who are talking about equality or social justice or what have you.

To be fair, we haven't really had any intellectual male LI's in DA either.  Except for Solas now.

I'd argue that Morrigan is fairly intellectual.  She might not be "bookish", but she's very smart and savvy and is worldly.  Merrill's kind of an intellectual as well.  She's fairly erudite, even if she is a bit daft socially and a terrible decision maker.  And I agree with your point that Josephine is likely going to be very intellectual as well.

I never thought Merrill was a terrible decision maker, mainly due to my refusal to blame her for the actions committed by other people; I admired her taking a proactive stance on the plight of her people, and making an informed decision on a course of action that could benefit them through painstaking efforts in her studies into lore on the Eluvian and extrapolation of information from the shard.

I really liked Morrigan and Merrill; they were two great, intellectual apostates.

Merrill is a First; I mean her whole arc centers around her being a scholar and her interest in her people's past. She is about as intellectual as it gets. By the way, have you ever met an intellectual? They get lost for hours thinking about a particular theory but don't have the social know how to engage in polite chit chat

Agreed.  Merrill is an intellectual.  I might not agree with the decisions that she made, but she was making very informed decisions based on years of research.  That sounds like an intellectual to me.

Also, HA!  "Have I ever met an intellectual?"  I'm in my fourth year in a doctoral program.......  Sometimes I lose an entire weekend day on wikipedia spirals devoted to "casual" research on European history.  Oh, and my dissertation is on science teacher education (decidedly NOT european history......)  So, I have NO idea what you are talking about with intellectuals..... ;)

Cool :D I graduated in 2012... well my dissertation was on princess culture and its influence on American girls; I would need one tiny clip from a Disney film but of course I would decide that I needed to watch the whole film again in case I missed something... or maybe re-read one of my favorite books... or play a video game, wait, that has absolutely nothing to do with my research... screw it, I'm doing it anyway

Wikipedia is a bottomless pit of possibly erroneous knowledge but nothing compares to YouTube. I have sat and watched three straight hour long documentaries on like medical mysteries and sh!t just on YouTube

I like to think of Merrill as being the classic high intelligence, low wisdom, "absent minded professor" type.  I don't agree with all of her ideas about spirits, or how she went about things with the Eluvian, but she definitely qualifies as an intellectual character.

I understand why some might not see Morrigan as "scholarly", but she definitely is intelligent, uses the things she's learned from her mother and books to further her goals, and has a philosophic and complex view of the Old God's soul when talking about her goals...that's pretty deep.

Being a straight male I am happy with the options since I play as both a straight male and a lesbian female I have 4 options in DAI, Cass and Josephine for my straight male and Sera and Josephine for my lesbian female.

Even the current split feels artificial to me. Why do lesbians have as many options as straight men? It's understandable that gay dudes have 2 options because there are more men than women our crew. But lesbians? Lesbians account for a small proportion of the population yet somehow there are 2/3 romanceable women are lesbians?

Because straight men have two options and lesbians having less options would leave them with one option, and shouldn't everyone have a choice? And one of the women who like women is bi, not a lesbian.

Like it in here with the gays eh, feels good doesn't it. :D

Also I don't know bout you but I always thought bisexual women like men too, or maybe my world view is horribly wrong.

They weren't thinking about the statistics of the real world when making this game, they were thinking about player choice and what would fit each particular character.

I don't see why some people are upset about it. obviously this has to do with the character and story reason otherwise it would be like the previous games where it was equal. So it seems to me the character you can romance are because of story reasons not because they are just there as a bonus, but as icing for the amazing cake that is DA:I. some parts of the cake has more icing than other parts. still makes it a wonderful cake.

And i am a Male gamer. who normally play exclusively male characters. just so people have context.

I really hope people stop it with the "playersexual" noise.  Josephine is bisexual, she isn't straight in one game and then magically becomes a lesbian in others.

Even if there were two lesbians and two straight women available for romance (as opposed to the actual distribution of one straight, one bisexual, and one lesbian), it wouldn't automatically be unrealistic.  Lesbians don't spread out evenly throughout the cosmos in order to be fair.  They tend to clump up unrealistically in places like homes and shopping malls.

I'm cautious when dating bisexuals.  That just means they have twice as many opportunities to cheat on you.

Can't wait for Book 4.  <3 Korra

I know it's going to be shocking, but not all real life bisexuals are Isabela and Zevran.

It's something some people actually believe unfortunately, so when it's not obvious that it's a joke it will get bad reactions. :s
