My graphics card has hit a snag so that it'll restart my computer when I run games high graphics.

Unfortunately, this includes Nwn2's toolset.

I used it fine a min ago, but then once I turned on shadows for a split second and zoomed in on some lighting, it crashed my computer.

I thought I knew where the options were but was mistaken. Where can I reduce the toolsets graphics if possible?

Not in my VM at the moment so can't look, but once run into a problem with toolset option causing a problem and i had to delete the ini created by the toolset to reset everything.

Forget where it is, either under Local Settings or Application Data or something, look for a folder called NWN2 Toolset or something, and in there should be an INI.

But running Toolset in low graphics mode... well, technically it is, but it sucks everything it can from your processor and GPU when you have an area open regardless of what your hardware is capable of.

Yeah, I used to play a game on Max graphics, now I cant without it restarting my pc. I have to play it on low detail, just curious if theres an option for the toolset (and yes, they are worse graphics already lol)

Do you guys vacuum out your PC's fan vents? It almost sounds like a heating issue--accumulated dust can clog up the air flow, causing a hardware fault when the temperature gets too high.

I've cleaned my graphics and psu out a lot (took it apart and cleaned it fully). Guess I need a pressure can to fully clean my cpu.

But is there an alternative? I can't work on my modules at all xD

if you want to do some stuff on your module while you get your computer sorted go for interior areas and conversations they don't take much power.

Is your GPU driver up to date?

It crashs when I'm even in an interior

Hopefully you don't have a bad card then. I had one once that was a total PoS... had to keep opening and shutting the case just to get the box just to boot properly....

My external fans broke few months ago so I took the case off. It got dusty faster but was fine. Took it off but ill keep it cleaner.

Game I was just playing (this happened 10 mins ago), my screen froze, so I had to emergency shut down.

The fans are there to pull air past the CPU/GPU for cooling. Just leaving the case open is relying on ambient air circulation, which likely isn't sufficient. Without fan cooling the chips will run hot and may eventually be permanently damaged.

Have you tried tinkering with the toolset renderer resoloution? (via view, options in the toolset)

A drastic mesaure if you are running default settings already, as anything less makes it hard to appreciate the aesthetics. If you were running it in high res, this may reduce the burden perhaps.

Ah, just found it. Its not a single ini file, its a collection of XML files that control the toolset config.

If you are on Win 7/8 you should find the files here: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\NWN2 Toolset

You can either try finding the options there and changing them in the XML, or just delete the files then reset your preferences in the toolset again once its up and running.

I have another fan on the case, but my case is open, right by my window so it's quite cool.

My cpu/gpu/psu fans are running fine as well.

I've had my toolset open in a small packed interior for over 1hour now and nothing has happened (I'm doing nothing, I just left the toolset open). I'll play around with it later, but the last time it turned my pc off was because I turned shadows on when looking at a numerous of lights which gave shadows.
