It's lauching on October folks, so don't be sad.
I personally just wished they invited the folk that applyed to the beta instead of giving codes for those who are already in the Beta.
But it's what it is.
But then how many would get in? We don't know the amount of people in each set of invites and 100k people applied.
Existing members got 5 codes. So thats lots more people than the old way

I know this probably won't happen, but If anyone still has a spare key, I would really love to have one please. I've been signed up for the beta for a really long time and still no invite. Thanks.

I doubt its 100k in the beta
.
This way is done out of marketing purposes. Not of any, "this is a better way to get people in"
. But not really suprising and i don't mind ![]()

The only issue with this approach is you severely limit the sample size of potential participants by limiting it to family and friends. At the very least, those who signed up a year ago and didn't get in should have at least had a shot, I'd think. The way BioWare has approached it, half the individuals that have got in likely never signed up for the Keep beta at all. I believe BioWare could have handled it in a much better fashion, but this was their approach.

I don't really buy the argument that this is for marketing purposes. The Dragon Age Keep is only relevant to those of us really who have played Origins and 2. It's not like this is the actual game. It's just a rehash of things we have already done to build a certain world state. I'd agree with you more if this was actually a beta of DAI.

As someone who got into the keep via the code

Perhaps, but with less then a month to go before release? It doesnt matter so much anymore.
I gave my codes to strangers.

100k applied. I don't think all those numbers are in the keep
As someone who got into the keep via the code< is my feelings for the F&F codes.

I don't disagree with you at this point. The game will be out soon. I just don't really see the point of why they allowed people to sign up for beta a year in advance when only a fraction likely got accepted, and the rest accepted got in because of either friends or they got codes via the internet. Why not just give out all the codes as a marketing ploy and not even do a sign-up process?

As with any Alpha & beta testing, at first you want small numbers so you dont get overwhelmed by feedback. Then more over time.

What I meant is they would exclusively give codes away on social media (Facebook, Twitter, BioWare Forum, etc.). They wouldn't give away all the codes. They would slowly release more and more overtime to desirable levels. A sign-up wouldn't have been necessary and it likely would have built up more hype and anticipation for the game. All BioWare did was annoy fans who didn't get in honestly. Dragon Age Keep isn't an MMO. It's a world state generator and nothing more.

Bioware games are the only ones I enjoy playing other than final fantasy on the odd occasion

I have to agree with this. I applied to the beta the first week it was available to do so, and I still haven't gotten in. It is quite annoying to realize that people who may never have even signed up for it have gotten in with codes they received from the Internet. *sigh*

I could have done what some you are doing and say "It is annoying that people who registered after I did. Got into the beta while I had to wait for a code."
But cant keep complaining all the time especially this close to release. Hopefully for you lot people will visit this thread and give codes out

This isn't about complaining. This is about having proper execution and a clear message to your fans. For this particular case, it doesn't matter as the game will be out soon. That being said, BioWare could have certainly handled this in a much more efficient manner. Beta invites are never guaranteed. However, why even have a beta application process if you are going to just give out a majority of the keys in the end? This is more of a lesson to BioWare in the future should they do something like this again.

Well I won a code yesterday on a Tumblr contest. So thats a good place to look guys! Just search 'Make me a keeper' and you should get quite a few contests. Most of them will be for entries like 'Draw your Inquisitor' (Which is how I won) or 'Write a short fic about one or more dragon age characters'. So if you have any talent for things like that, check it out!
ALSO! For those of you who have codes within the last few days and haven't gotten on (like me) they will be letting people on within in the next couple days of this week!

Is going on to Twitter/Tumblr the only way to get codes? I am horrible at following Twitter. I did post on the #MakeMeaKeeper but it seems like, unless you can follow it all day, you're kind of SOL.

If anyone has a code I'd really appreciate it. I applied when applications first opened and never got in.
