Hey all.

 

I am considering playing through the ME3 demo, (to tide me over until I have enough for ME3,) and I was wondering if the single-player missions progress in the demo carries over to the core game, or if I'll be able to just use my character from ME2.

It doesn't. You still need to complete the First Mission in the Core game, even if you did complete it in the Demo.
