After all. They could just start over with a new Mass Effect game set in the parallel universe and the Reapers never exist nor does Cerberus. Remember what Casey Hudson said? "We are starting to get ready to develop another Mass Effect game and it's going to be a new thing," Hudson said. "We want to be able to give fans an opportunity to get back into the world with these things you've come to know and love about the Mass Effect experience, but start something fresh and new; a new way for you to explore the whole universe in Mass Effect." I belive the new Mass Effect has NOTHING to do with the "Reaper's"

I can not adequately express in words how utterly stupid that would be.

I mean, why not just make a new game set in an alternate universe where everyone is in highschool? Wrex is a jock, and Miranda is literally a cheerleader, ect. It'd still be the same characters, but it'd be new and exciting!

Yeah, no. Stupid. I'm fine with the next game distancing itself from the Reaper threat as much as possible, but for God's sake, if they completely butcher the universe so badly that it's literally not even the same universe anymore, count me out.

What, the Casey Hudson responsible for one of the three worst video game endings of all time?

So the same universe without the reapers is a completely butchering the universe?

Right.

The butthurt is strong with this one.

Yes. It'd be like having Attack on Titan without the Titans, or Star Wars without the Force. Those things are intrinsic to their settings, the history, the motivations of the characters, ect.

An alternate universe where the Reapers never happened? I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry. I hate the endings as much as the next person but get the **** over it already. I want more time in the ACTUAL ME universe, not some alternate reality garbage.

And by the way why does everybody hate casey hudson? i mean after all he did make Kotor,Jade empire, neverwinter nights? i think so without him Bioware would never be here today and no he didnt want a "dumbed down" mass effect 2 and 3 all he did was answer MOST of the people who wanted better gameplay. But i do agree Mass Effect 4 should go back to its roots and be more of a RPG style game like dragon age.And i would love to be a space pirate!

I dunno about the worst ending of all time you have the duke nukem ending coming in first, probably followed up by Destiny (I didn't even realise that was the end of the game) and maybe AC3 (If only because they completely fudged the delivery) maybe 5 or 6 slots lower is ME3.

On topic I think there's a good chance we'll be leaving the milky way in this one probably using either the citadel or some other method same universe new area.

This would be idiotic, if they decide to go that route. The codex says that less than 1 percent of the Milkyway has been explored by the entirety of all the different known races. You don't go and explore the mountains in the distance if you haven't even mapped your own backyard.

And the trend of this thread producing consistently stupid ideas continues.

I'm not saying I like the idea, or that I think it's a good idea, but that how it would roll.

It's not like the idea comes out of nothing.

Besides, what you think is stupid isn't necessarily stupid.

Umm, Star Wars without the Force would be more akin to Mass Effect without biotics.  Just saying.

The Reapers are not intrinsic to the setting.  infact, I'd call them (and the endings) a threat to the setting.

Then play the trilogy.

I don't want a Red, Blue, or Green galaxy to play in.

You people are hopeless. You want an ME universe where the endings didn't happen, go read a fanfic. Because I don't want to play in a universe where nothing I did across the first three games was all a bad fever dream.

If it's set in the future then it has to be based on one of the three endings, making that ending alone canon.  It could be set in another galaxy, in which case there is no Earth and no humans, all races are alien.  That's okay, but it's harder to market a game where you don't have humans in it.  They could do an alternate universe where the Reapers never happened, but you have Earth and all the races from the trilogy.  But then there are no mass relays and you have to explain how all these races have come to know each other.  And you're not building on anything from the trilogy and it doesn't feel like Mass Effect anymore. You might as well start from scratch and not call it Mass Effect.

I would go with future, except for the problem of which ending it's based on.  That's the problem of giving alternate endings if you want to do a sequel later.

Its because..................Commander Shepard and the Reapers are the part of the Mass Effect Universe - they are going to be in it anyway.

Its not that Mass Effect is a part of the Commander's and Reapers Universe that you can take it out of it anytime and put it in a parallel universe.

I hate the concept of multiverses and parallel universe with no history and legacy - it would feel like we wasted our time in the first three games.

Moreover the new game has already shown a Krogan and a N7 suit along with that explorer vehicle - they are not from the alternate universe - they are from a time after Shepard. ;)

The reapers can be gone with my vote. Good riddance. I don't need a big threat from which my character needs to save the entire galaxy. Been there and done that in too many games. I'm bored with it. I really don't care if we leave the three games behind.

They can remake it so that the MEU has its Citadel and Mass Relays made by the Protheans at the peak of their empire. Empires rise and fall. The keepers are genetically engineered creatures that maintain the Citadel. Simple. Where are the Protheans? Now that they have a model for one, they can still be around, except that like the Romans, they've been kicked out of vast areas of the galaxy by rising civilizations. They can have the Attican Traverse on the far side of the core from the Citadel. That's what they have left. It was their economy that collapsed. The Systems Alliance doesn't have to occupy nearly half the galaxy.

Now write a good story.

Not to derail topic but I'm getting kinda tired of reading about crap like this.

ME1: 2 endings Red and Blue, Save or dont Save

ME2: 2 endings Red and Blue, Save or Dont Save

ME3: 3 endings Red, Blue and Green, Save, Don't Save and Merge.

KoToR: 2 endings Red and Blue

Point is every damn bioware game has had color coded endings that either involved saving or destroying something or other.

But back on topic.

I don't want anything to do with Shepard anymore His/Her story is done. Reapers are dead, forced away or merged so no point in making them the big bad enemy.

I bet the next ME's big enemy going to be the Leviathan's and their thrall races.

But the color coding isn't the primary reason or even just one of the main reasons why the endings suck. The primary reason is that they are the worst example of ass pull space magic ever conceived of by anyone anywhere. (The synthesis ending is especially guilty.)

How? Citadel kid was right synthesis is the ultimate stage of evolution...even in real life technology is leading us to that point. in my opinion at least.

I think most of the hate actually comes from the fact that people didn't get the endings they wanted. I.E the blue babies and everything being A-okay with the defeat of the reapers. Stuff like that basically. I'm one of the rare few that had no issue with the original endings before the extended cut. I understood what they were trying to do. Even the space kid.
